Indeed to all of that. And they're not even properly sized - just XS - L etc. So quite how you would guess is a mystery.
Agree re likely to go away rather than take off... Phew if so.

NoCureForLove · 08/01/2021 13:40

Here:

"Please note, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on earrings or made to order items.

Please refer to our delivery & returns policy for more information."

Saurus72 · 08/01/2021 14:06

Maybe I’m not clever enough to get it but this seems like 1. General lunacy and 2. An ill-thought through jumping on the sustainability bandwagon with the no waste push ( sentiment I totally agree with - I don’t do throwaway clothes).

But the point of Toast (for me) is that the clothes are well-made and designed to be worn for years which is surely the meaning of sustainable clothes, #confused

parttimepunk · 08/01/2021 16:36

No returns Shock. You'd want to have money to burn.

Saurus - I have that chalkboard dress. It's one of my favourites. Good choice!

Laska2Meryls · 08/01/2021 16:48

Perhaps its aimed more for shop customers... assuming that they will have some to try on before ordering from there,? However I would expect more in the way of
being able to request ones own measurements if its made to order.
My (random sale item from 2018 collection it seems) needlecord tunic arrived.. its lovely.. a bit too dark to take a photo atm..
I did manage to pounce on a S in that shirt I linked to earlier so 🤞it fits.. I have the charcoal one in M and its a bit loose, so with any luck....

.... except I didnt, ive just realised.. have ordered the wrong one !Confused

Totally agree that one very big way in which to reduce waste would be to have more consistent sizing (quality control?). I don't think you're allowed to have a no returns policy are you? distance selling regulations? Can understand the earrings - but anything else is silly!
They definitely need a focus group (us for example!) to sit down and tell them where they can improve

I also quite like the archive section - I can go a few seasons where I don't buy much, so it's always a nice surprise to find things from a year or so ago

Laska2Meryls · 08/01/2021 19:56

Faustina Am I missing something? Where is the Archive section?

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 08/01/2021 19:58

is it different from the sale?

OP posts:
faustina · 08/01/2021 20:54

@Laska2Meryls - someone up the thread said they didn't like the archive sales, that's all - I don't think there's one right now Smile

AmethystMoonShine · 08/01/2021 22:31

Well all our chat about whether the IDE PJs in Size M would fit me were wasted @Laska2Meryls as they’ve sent me a pair of size S with a size M label attached! As I put them on I thought they seemed a wee bit tight Confused
So they’ve gone back. I did nab a 12 in the slate Anja cord shirt though which I’m hoping fits. A few worrying reviews about the fit, but thought I’d try it and see. I went for 12 even thought Toast suggested a 10 as it says it’s a neat fit on the shoulders and I’m broad shouldered. Fingers crossed.

Check out the article (half way down the home page) on Nrby Clothing from The Times. I know there are a few fans and some new converts here.

Moominmammaatsea · 09/01/2021 11:17

Also, a few more Toast sale items on the JL site (Edith Chambray shirt dress & needlecord swingy dress)...

Moominmammaatsea · 09/01/2021 11:25

And a few more...the Monty Don jacket and the supremely bargainous indigo cotton twill shirt. And more!

ScottishMouse · 09/01/2021 21:07

Hi Toasties. Have been enjoying reading about all your sale purchases recently. I placed a few sale orders, but kept nothing. But I have just snapped up an ochre Mira jumper that popped up on John Lewis. It was a Small, which is the size I would usually buy in Toast knitwear, but I like boxy styles that don’t cling, and am now worried this might be a bit neat in a small. How does it fit those who have it?
I’m crossing my fingers as I just love the colour and would really like one sale pick me up.

applecatchers36 · 10/01/2021 11:29

My Toast parcel arrived and am liking the side button jeans, which were unfortunately not in the sale. High waisted, flattering cut, heavy good quality denim. Think they are keepers. Need to edit my jeans and get rid of the skinnies.

Here is the random 2018 needlecord tunic that appeared in the Toast sale briefly.. Really pleased with it. Also Pumpkin lace Alpaca jumper.. could possibly size down ..this is M, but think I am keeping (though may order a S if one reappears)

Love the Pumpkin colour and Lace knit really unusual Laska. The cord shirt looks very comfy and wearable, how lucky to find them both in the sale!

Countmeout · 10/01/2021 19:01

I really like the Lacey pumpkin knit. There was one on John Lewis this morning. Did anyone else buy it?

Greetings! I for one am swanning about in my lovely Toast treasures - yes, I spend most of my time either doing telephone therapy or video calls where all that’s visible is my face and a bit of my neckline, but it brightens my day to feel I’m dressed up.

And....I might have been far too optimistic with a denim indigo dyed jumpsuit. I’m normally an 8 in Toast but this is a 6!

Saurus72 · 11/01/2021 09:30

@Craftycorvid I agree re: feeling better for wearing nice clothes even though no-one really sees them. I’m wearing my navy jersey Franca dress today which is so comfy and cosy.

Quite a few new (returned) things on JL this morning. I ordered this which I have high hopes for to wear under my blue and black denim pinafores for a cheery touch of spring colour. Think the colour will either be a disaster or fabulous 😊.

@Saurus72 I also ordered the lilac oxford shirt this morning along with half price Annie side button jeans. Fingers crossed but I think the lilac will be lovely. I am growing out my grey hair after a long time deliberating whether to do so, and I think lilac should look nice with grey.

thedevilinablackdress · 11/01/2021 15:23

Hello, dropping back in after a long break... Parcel arrived today with the denim shirt dress from the sale. I'm thrilled with it, length, fit, quality. I'll get loads of wear, summer and winter. Also a nightdress which is 100 better than the similar M&S one I had with itchy metallic thread 🤦‍♂️
