Ochon 🤦‍♀️

BookSkark · 29/10/2020 22:32

I think there's only one solution @OchonAgusOchonO. You'll just have to order another advent calendar that you don't really need. Then it'll guarantee the LF turns up, AND you'll get the benefit of an unnecessary advent calendar. What's not to like?!

AsPerMyLastEmail · 29/10/2020 22:34

I like your thinking @BookSkark you enabler GrinGrinGrin

chloechloe · 29/10/2020 22:36

Poor Ryan and Eva, they’ll be needing a large velvetised hot chocolate with extra rum after all ochon’s emails. Surely it’d just be easier to send you another one rather than trying to get to the bottom of it! I’m sure they must have a few spares somewhere.

Kindest regards xxx

I went for the Space NK GWP despite saying I wasn't going to, so need to take others down with me to prove it's perfectly normal behaviour, not just a complete lack of willpower. But I very definitely am not buying anything else until I've at least used up my full size products - I'm going to run out of space!
OchonAgusOchonO · 29/10/2020 22:51

@BookSkark - excellent idea. I was thinking of cult beauty or birchbox as alternatives but they're out of stock now. I did consider asos but they were charging an extortionate exchange rate for delivery to Ireland and I would begrudge that too much. Any suggestions for an alternative?

I want something with a bit of a mix but more towards skin care than make-up. My preference is multi-brand.

OchonAgusOchonO · 29/10/2020 22:53

That's my strategy. Annoy them so much it's easier to satisfy me than to ignore me.

Costacoffeeplease · 29/10/2020 22:55

So is anyone doing a November advent? I’ll be doing H&B in December but I also have LF, Liberty, Lumene and Fortnums. I have to decide which for Nov, Dec and jan?

BookSkark · 29/10/2020 22:58

I ruled out Cult Beauty and went for Net A Porter for that exact reason - more skincare than make up. But it hasn't been as popular on here for some reason.

The other option is to look at one of the GWPs that are around at the moment - I think Cult Beauty and Space NK are both available. Not quite the same as an advent, but if you'll use the products you buy for the qualifying spend anyway, it's technically free - and then you just need someone to wrap them for you so you get a surprise each day and job done!

Disclaimer - I have no idea if any of these ship to Ireland.

OchonAgusOchonO · 29/10/2020 23:00

@Costacoffeeplease - So is anyone doing a November advent?

My plan was to do Lumene in November and LF in December. If LF manage to find my calendar, I'll go with that but I'm not going to start on it unless LF has shipped. I'm happy to join a November Lumene thread mid month though if I get LF within the next couple of weeks.

OchonAgusOchonO · 29/10/2020 23:01

Thanks @BookSkark. I'll have a look.

Costacoffeeplease · 29/10/2020 23:03

I feel LF and Liberty will be popular in Dec but I have to do H&b as my mum sister and cousin all have it too. So that leaves lumene maybe Nov and Fortnums Jan?

EatPrayYoga · 29/10/2020 23:05

I can't fully decide whether to do LF or H&B in December but I like the threads so will go with that. I had initially thought H&B in December but I'm pretty excited about LF and the fact I can and have just opened a few drawers (I didn't look inside the paper) is pretty tempting

But help - if you do one in December and on in Jan them you don't have anything for the week between Christmas and new year and that doesn't seem right!

But then opening from 26th December would be confusing

Pomegranatespompom · 29/10/2020 23:16

People who’ve used lumene before which brand is or most like and why do you like it?

AsPerMyLastEmail · 29/10/2020 23:19

Both my Space NK and Cult Beauty GWPs arrived today. DH opened the front door to the couriers and called “MORE boxes” up the stairs with a tone.

But I’ve very much enjoyed opening them tonight and routing around a bit, before putting all the nice little bottles and containers back. The Space NK in particular is beautifully packed abs presented, with make-your-own cardboard cracker-style boxes inside for you to gift some of the products to yourself others.

OchonAgusOchonO · 29/10/2020 23:26

@EatPrayYoga - wasn't there something up thread about a lidl or aldi one that covered the gap between Christmas and new year?

EatPrayYoga · 29/10/2020 23:35

Oh yeah Ochon a 6 or 12 day one

Butterymuffin · 30/10/2020 00:20

It's Aldi who last year did a 6-day Boxing Day to New Year calendar. No word yet on whether they will again. I wish someone else would do it if they're not going to.

I reckon there will be a healthy crop of people opening LF and also H&B in December, so we can have a thread for each, and then can come back here and be vague but indicative. 'Good day today?' 'Oh yes. Full size' .

clary · 30/10/2020 00:50

I was planning LF for December and Lumene fir January, I'm sure I'll feel more in need of a lift then. I have H&B but it's supposed to be for dd...she's away at uni tho hmmmmmmm

Butterymuffin lol at Full size (taps nose) 😂😂,

MiaN · 30/10/2020 06:19

Liberty london is sold out now too.

Caroline HIrons kits are out today. I have to say as much as I am fan of gwps/advent calendars I find spending 300gbp for 8 products that I have not selected myself but they always sell out very quick.

foilflower · 30/10/2020 07:47

I’ll be ok during the gap because I usually get my favourite moisturisers and serum for Christmas so they’ll help to bridge the gap Grin

CH kits are not for me. I went through a phase of reading the site and following the advice a number of years back when it was first mentioned on here and while it all sounded great it didn’t work for me and I became disillusioned. Would rather buy things I know I love at that price.

EatPrayYoga · 30/10/2020 08:02

CH kits?

I'm amazed at all the calendars they have on offer at Douglas in europe... wondering about shipping.

Omg! Amazing link! I love the Douglas shop. Extra hilarity giving the glamorous Douglas carrier bag to DPs mate Big Dougie 🤣🤣
MiaN · 30/10/2020 09:05

Yeah, not for me either. Even in terms of getting advice from - I prefer Nadine Baggott or Hot and Flashy. I am always amazed how quickly they sell and how people buy both kits

Bumbl · 30/10/2020 09:10

Not an advent calendar but I bought last night the Tarte 7 items for £56 offer they do a couple of times a year. I've always seen them and never bought. Haven't tried their makeup before but hopefully I like it!
