Does anyone wear these to bed every night?

These beautiful satin night gowns... we see them in movies but what I wanna know is, does anyone IRL wear them everynight?

I have a small collection of these but cannot wear them to bed. They feel uncomfortable compared to my usual cotton pajamas Blush I'm also afraid I'd feel cold in the morning. But I really want to get into the habit if it's possible as they feel so luxurious Grin

Not quite like that.
Fairly early in our marriage we decided (me and OH) that comfy pjs were for me sleeping in and 'sexy' nighties were for fun. If he wanted a bit of 'fun' and I didn't he didn't push but did sometimes look a bit hurt. This way he knew when fun was on the menu. Cuddles were always available.
Babydolls and sexy nighties aren't that comfy for sleeping (and I used to snap the straps or they'd dig in)

@Northernsoullover

True story: I wore a long silky nighty a la Dynasty once and I got into bed enthusiastically only to slide out the other side! (Single bed).

I sleep in a silk sleeping bag every night. It's lovely.

Bit random but I also like to do geography quizzes online. It's not for everyone but I like it and it makes me zone out. Over lockdown I ended up learning every capital of the world Grin

Wrong thread Blush

doadeer · 21/10/2020 10:41

Ha these replies are funny. I'm obviously in the minority finding them really comfortable!

isthismylifenow · 21/10/2020 12:04

I bought a pair of silk pajamas to wear on my wedding night. I also bought a matching pair of g-string undies to go with it.

I think I probably wore them 3 times in as many years and they got chucked out on a sort out one year. I sort of wished I had kept them now so that I could test out if I could slide around my king size bed all my own.

The g-string undies I wore once. I still have them for some reason in my undie drawer. I was married for 20 years and been separated and divorced for 5, so no, I don't know if I have been keeping them for one day that I reckon g-string suddenly become comfortable.

Aww, I used to wear full length flowing satin slips to bed when I was young and thin. I spent a lot of time travelling for work, staying in big luxury hotels, and it felt quite natural wafting around in them in that sort of environment. I was quite glamorous back then.

Not so much now! I like my soft cotton pjs these days. I just treated myself to some very pretty ones from Powell Craft actually; a new discovery and I’m delighted with them.

Aglet · 21/10/2020 18:09

My mum loves stuff like that. I can't sleep with anything on at all because I get so hot at night, even if the bedroom is Baltic when I go in.

Lynnstamford8 · 21/10/2020 18:31

I actually prefer the silk ones, of course have to go a couple of size up so that it does ride up! So soft and no constraints... of course better for warmer nights Smile

Suzi888 · 21/10/2020 18:34

I do, I don’t find them uncomfortable at all.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 21/10/2020 18:42

They not for sleeping in (bedroom attire) my friend once jumped into bed in silky pjs and skidded out the otherside and broke her leg 🤣🤣🤣

MiddlesexGirl · 21/10/2020 18:46

It is interesting. A silk or even, dare I say it, silky polyester slip/chemise/nightie is by far the most comfortable option for me. I'll only wear something with sleeves or in cotton jersey if it's chilly.
But I'd never in a million years wear a g-string. My idea of hell!

HemlockStarglimmer · 21/10/2020 18:49

I prefer to wear nothing but if I do I wear satin nightdresses as it is so much easier to turn over in bed in them. Pyjama trousers always ride up (legs and bum) and cotton binds on the sheets and I feel trapped.
Best of all would be my own duvet so I could take it with me when I turn over.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 21/10/2020 18:51

No. They are for entertaining gentlemen callers only, IMHO Grin

shinynewapple2020 · 21/10/2020 18:58

Fleecy pyjamas here Blush

MJMG2015 · 21/10/2020 19:02

I used to find the short ones comfortable whenI was young, slim & firm - it's all much less sexy these days. Mostly just an oversized birthday suit.

grassisjeweled · 21/10/2020 19:26

Surely everyone knows they're not for sleep? Just sexy time

RaininSummer · 21/10/2020 19:31

Nope. They were good for posing in a sexy way back in the days when I cared about that sort of thing.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 21/10/2020 20:10

Totally wear and love them!wear them

user1523010848 · 21/10/2020 20:31

I have several in silk but the straps annoy me. Naked in bed is best for me.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 21/10/2020 20:41

Ah well I need more coverage than that as I am always cold and DH gets too warm, so its PJs for me. However, why is ladies nightwear so naff these days? I dont want slogans, I dont want Disney Frozen or Wham pyjamas (come on TU at Sainsburys). Maybe its just me but I would like pretty pyjamas in lovely soft fabric that doesnt make me look like a 7 year old. Rant over.

marriednotdead · 21/10/2020 20:44

I used to wear them all the time when I was married as a compromise because I got too cold naked. Exh hated the more functional jersey types and I was daft enough to listen to his opinions
Now DP is my own personal radiator so I don't need anything apart from my bedsocks Grin

IceniWarrior · 21/10/2020 21:25

I pulled one out of my draw, and am wearing it. Very comfy. No idea why I don't wear them more!

Amiable · 21/10/2020 22:45

Tried ‘em, hated ‘em.

They twist round so I feel like I’m in the clutches of a boa constrictor.

Those with shaped boob bits never fit my ample bosom, and the seams irritate my nipples.

Then my boobs fall out the top while I am sleeping.

They do not stretch so if I get them to fit when I am standing up, they feel like they are going to split when I lie down.

Spaghetti straps either fall off my shoulder constantly, or dig in and hurt like hell.

Sum total of all this is that they end up being the very opposite of sexy as aI constantly swear and adjust myself!

Like so many things which look amazing in films, magazines etc, the reality of them is so very different!
