How many coats do we think she has?

Wow! Could not have imagined that a haircut could make someone as glossy and polished as Char look so frightful.

Maireas · 17/12/2020 05:58

Undercuts, pixie crops and tramlines can look edgy. This doesn't look stylish or fashion forward, just very strange and unflattering. I didn't like the fringe, now this Xmas Shock.

Agree with you @Maireas. She is giving good mask though.
Her previous pixie Bob with the shirt fringe was growing on me too. She does seem to suit a host of different hairstyles (with some exceptions!). She must have a perfectly oval face shape.

paradyning · 17/12/2020 06:57

*short

Maireas · 17/12/2020 07:14

She is beautiful! Very elegant and chic, usually. She can totally pull off a cropped hairstyle. This looks like one of those "look what happened when I did my hair in lockdown!".

Charlene is 42 now, I think she's having a last grasp at rock-chick fun!

I can't say that I like it very much, it will look horrid as it grows out. But worse still, is how uncomfortable it will be to wear a tiara with! Xmas Grin

Maireas · 17/12/2020 07:38

It is not tiara friendly hair! Ouch.

Clarence House have released Charles and Camilla's Christmas card photo. Very casual, they both look nice and relaxed.

I think she was brave to cut her hair like that, I admire her.

She probably knew the reaction she would get from people who’d say things like ‘I don’t like the half-shaved look on women’ or who think women must have hair that is ‘flattering’ by which they mean like Kate Middleton. I’m too worried about appearing feminine to ever do that - and that doesn’t make me feel proud.

Some pretty gross reactions on this thread alone.

banivani · 17/12/2020 09:00

Charlene is an example to everyone I think! Well done to her for always trying new things. It's the most original royal haircut since someone got their hair maybe bobbed in the 30s. It's the haircut of an athlete so props to her for that.

Hard to say if it suits her with the mask covering her face, so in that respect maybe it doesn't at the moment when she's wearing one so much.

AppleKatie · 17/12/2020 09:09

I’m critically analysing my own reaction now because I feel guilty for it. I’m sure it is partly socialisation and an ingrained feeling of what is ‘right’ and part of that is inherrent sexism.

I will say though that it’s the well groomed version of a similar cut a 17 year old boy of my acquaintance has and my first thought there was ‘is he quite well!’ And the second ‘I’m certain he did that to himself, I wonder what his mum said’.

banivani · 17/12/2020 09:16

From a UK/Irish perspective it's a very "masculine" hair cut I think. You're used to seeing this mostly on fellas, and if women have undercuts they also have long hair. I think.

My husband out of the blue once said that if I wanted to get a haircut like that he wouldn't mind. I think he meant that he thought it looked good and I should try it. His own hair is too measly for experiments whereas I am quite luscious. Grin I keep bringing mad experiments like this up with my hairdresser who nods and smiles and then gently gently brings the discussion back to the fact that I never style my hair ever so what's the point with elaborate haircuts that definitely need styling?

MaudTheInvincible · 17/12/2020 10:28

Some more pics of Charlene. It shows off her eyes beautifully. The look reminds me of Sinead O'Connor's shaved head in the Nothing Compares video. I think if any royal can pull off an edgy, punky look it's Charlene.

Oooh i can't get on board with that haircut. It's not because her age ect, i just don't like the look of shaved heads. It just looks sort of ... painful? Calls to mind surgical procedures ...

Each to their own though obvs! I mean if a friend got it done i'd always find something good to say :)

LadyEloise · 17/12/2020 14:42

There's a real Scandi vibe from Charlene with the new hair style- Girl with a Dragon Tatoo

Maireas · 17/12/2020 16:24

As we all know on here, taste is subjective. No doubt some people think the hair looks great. If you don't, that's ok, it's only the hairstyle being criticised not the woman. There is a lot of socialisation and perceived feminine norms, though. I once had a pixie crop and my colleagues called me "brave".
I remember Diana always had short hair, which I liked. Charlene's is a bit radical, I personally don't think it looks good, but she's a beautiful, elegant woman and no doubt she will carry it off!

MrsGrindah · 17/12/2020 17:03

Well I never thought we’d be discussing an undercut on this thread! Personally I don’t like it but good for her! Now Princess Anne on the other hand .... wouldn’t that be fab!

Maireas · 17/12/2020 17:17

That would be brilliant!! Grin
I would love Anne to do something radical with her hair!!

OP posts:
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/12/2020 17:54

That would have everyone & everything talking for years!
Anne has the most gorgeous hair though it's a shame we don't see it in all its glory. When she was younger & wore it loose it was so swishy.
I wonder if Anne borrows the horses Mane n Tail shampoos & conditioners to use on herself.
I use it on me & it's brilliant. It's a bit like Flex - remember that?

MrsGrindah · 17/12/2020 18:44

I do remember Flex! Or Kate could do the blue / green ombre?

Maireas · 17/12/2020 19:50

Mane and Tail!!! I wonder if that's what she uses! Xmas Grin

I think this the first photo I've seen of pregnant Princess Sofia. She looks great.

@paradyning

Saw pics of Chaz's hairdo, came straight in here. Ooft!!
We need a Klaxon.

Tiaras jangling or some such.

AppleKatie · 17/12/2020 20:08

Princess Sofia is glowing

paradyning · 17/12/2020 20:53

Love that pic of Sofia!
