I'm doing a bit of early Christmas shopping.

cicatrix1 · 19/10/2020 17:05

SJP Lovely. Heard about it from mumsnet and fell in love...
I also get complimented on Liz Earle no15....beautiful perfume .

BusterGonad · 19/10/2020 17:20

On the back of this thread I've just ordered SJP Lovely, I've had it before so I know exactly what it smells like, I'm feeling like I'm homesick for the past so smelling this again will make me smile.

Bonnetdedeuce · 19/10/2020 19:08

@Puffalicious

Bonnetdedeuce Ahhh, i have such wonderful memories of Aqua de Gio: my spring/ summer perfume in my wild 20s. I'm now on a trip down memory lane.Smile

I used to have loads of scent and switch daily but as I've got older I've become a signature scent person. Like I said, and waves to PP with same, Stella is the one.

Isn’t it lovely, I’m still wearing it well into my fifties, so many compliments over the past 20 odd years! Must be the 90’s formula though. Off to Fragrantica to research Stella.

I just found a 15ml bottle of this that I had in a Liberty advent calendar a few years ago I’d never tried it Have to say, it’s gorgeous Well pleased I found it out
GlassOfPimms · 19/10/2020 19:45

What a bargain @QueenOfPain!!

Aww Aqua di Gio was my absolute favourite 90s perfume (along with Sun, Moon, Stars) I bought the PP version of it but not quite as I remembered. Never could understand why they discontinued Aqua di Gio Confused it was beautiful!

Lilac95 · 19/10/2020 19:57

Lancôme la be est belle. Every single time someone says how lovely it is

Racheyg · 19/10/2020 21:03

YSL Libre
I always get compliments on this. And a little goes along way

Puffalicious · 20/10/2020 20:15

Bonnetdedeuce Stella is not similar to Aqua de Gio in any way, just in case you were thinking it'd be similar, AdG is fresh Stella is floral. I hope you like it, though.

Bonnetdedeuce · 20/10/2020 23:09

Thank you, yes I believe Stella is a citrus floral rose, intrigued by previous posts so sample is on it’s way!
AdG apparently has vodka as a top note, probably why I like it so much.
Have dug out Escentric Molecules 01 to try again after seeing that mentioned a few times but alas it smells like fly spray on me.

GreyHare · 21/10/2020 00:07

I always wear and often get complimented on Clinique Aromatics in Black, I love it.

fibeee · 21/10/2020 00:26

Stella McCartney original. It’s the only perfume that has made strangers stop me and ask me what it is.

Timeandtune · 21/10/2020 00:29

La Vie est Belle by Lancôme. People come up and ask me what perfume I am wearing.

Runkle · 21/10/2020 01:04

Givenchy - L'interdit

Suzi888 · 21/10/2020 02:56

Givenchy Indecence.

itwaseverthus · 21/10/2020 03:19

I get compliments on Boucheron and 34 by Diptyque. Tried eccentric molecules and not a single compliment. Even asked DH to sniff my neck and he couldn't smell anything. Must react very differently on all of us.

Ruthietuthie · 21/10/2020 03:33

I always get compliments when I wear Annick Goutal's Petit Cherie. It is fresh, smells of peaches and pears, but not too sweet.

sergeilavrov · 21/10/2020 04:21

I rotate the Elie Saab lineup, lots of people asking what I am wearing. I sometimes dabble in Versace Oud.

In terms of quantity, I’m a back of the neck, earlobes, elbow pit, knee pit and cleavage person. Everyone I work with smells strongly of cologne so my perfume trail is normal. Unfortunately, DH once accidentally licked where I sprayed perfume and started gagging like a cat.

Panache - Yes, really!
Liz Earle number 15
Body Shop White Musk

TeatimeAtCloppa · 21/10/2020 07:48

Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan. Every single time. I wear Molecules sometimes and think I must be the only person never to be complimented on it.

Oh...I'm not.Grin

Girlzroolz · 21/10/2020 10:28

I’d never buy any perfumes for other people- it’s so personal and your own smell and personality affects your choices so much...

That said, there are light eau de colognes from classic perfume Houses that are delicate enough (and cheap enough) that I know they can be easily used as linen sprays or even room sprays.

Two come to mind: the range of Aqua Allegoria scents (in gorgeous Art Deco bottles) and the range of 4711 Acqua Colonia. Almost all winners, and you can check out the feedback/scent profiles on Fragrantica.com to be sure.

They’re practically unisex, delicate and (almost) universally yummy. You can layer them too.
