Most stylish parka you've seen?

I can't find the right parka despite seemingly endless searching. I want something simple, with clean lines (no fur, or detachable fur), not too bulky but warm enough for winter. Water proof or water resistant.

These are examples of ones I like:
www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-winter-parka-khaki/p5099119 (sold out in my size Sad)

And

www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+coats+and+jackets/c0pcf/cotton+parka.htm?clr=C0PCF_OliveGrove_sw (dry clean only and super pricey)

Budget up to around 300... please help!

You have good taste @Endlesscoathunt!

Think that JL one will come back into stock by the way because it's part of the latest Erica Davies selection that just launched yesterday.

But I have what you're after! It's this parka from Arket. I've just bought the short version in the sale and it's fab. They sell quilted vests (in the men's section) that zip into it for warmth.

I have recently bought a Uniqlo Blocktech one and it's properly water repellent but very light, the Arket one much more robust.

Jux · 07/10/2020 00:45

I think the terms "stylish" and "parka" are mutually exclusive Gin

GrannyRoberts · 07/10/2020 08:01

I have this one www.peterstorm.com/womens/297125-ps-w-phillipa-dwn-ii.html
Warm and waterproof - the fur is detachable and the belt gives it shape. I love it.

chloechloe · 07/10/2020 08:03

Following with interest as I was planning on buying a Didrikson but am now admiring the Protected Species coats!

WiserOwl · 07/10/2020 08:05

Ive just ordered the north face brooklyn parka. Hasnt arrived yet so 😮🤓 excited and nervous.
I was tempted by fjallraven kiruna and a lulu lemon parka which were similarly unfussy.

Endlesscoathunt · 07/10/2020 08:08

Thanks so much @Zinnia!

Did you get the quilted vest too? I’m ideally looking for something warm.

And any thoughts on sizing? I’m a 10-12 and was thinking I’d go for a small...

AnotherEmma · 07/10/2020 08:13

I think the John Lewis one (from your OP) is the best, I thought "stylish parka" was an oxymoron but it seems to fit the bill! Set up an email alert as I'm sure it will come back in stock.

I had my eye on a Seasalt Janelle that was out of stock in the colour I wanted but it's available again now so I've ordered it.

@Sophoa

www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/outerwear/coats-jackets?quickView=429470

I have this. Having searched literally the entire world this is the only one I could even begin to consider wearing. I hate coats more than anything and this is about the only one which doesn’t make me feel 100% frump and it’s lovely and warm too

What's the sizing like? Would you mind please telling us what size you have and what size you normally wear?

I'm usually a 14 but a bit bigger atm (recently had a baby) and wondering whether large would be ok...

Paddingtonthebear · 07/10/2020 09:01

I find the Didrikson arms too long, I’m not very tall and I think they are designed for taller people.

Paddingtonthebear · 07/10/2020 09:01

I’ve just bought this

www.parasolstore.co.uk/product/fjallraven-womens-kiruna-padded-parka-black/

Zinnia · 07/10/2020 10:42

@Endlesscoathunt Definitely get a small - I'm a 12-14 and have an M which is oversized but I want it large enough to get a padded vest and a chunky jumper underneath so am fine with that. Not bought the underneath layer yet but it's next on my list. The outer shell is warm enough to wear at the moment but I want the extra warmth for later in the year too.

@AnotherEmma Uniqlo sizing is pretty reliable - I'm usually an L there too but often size up in outerwear for reasons above (and because I can't stand a too-tight coat). My Blocktech jacket is an XL mainly because it looked better on me than the L did!

AnotherEmma · 07/10/2020 10:46

@Zinnia
Thank you, that's helpful - if you're a 12/14 and L/XL I think I will need XL.

WiserOwl · 07/10/2020 10:51

I like that one @Paddingtonthebear I was torn between a few and that kiruna parka was one of them

@Sophoa how does the sizing come up on the Uniqlo Parka? Does it feel bulky or lightweight to wear? Thanks

OrangeSplash · 07/10/2020 14:42

Look at poetry op. I can't link as don't know how to on the phone but i bought a lovely one with detachable wool lining. They've a good selection of colours. Don't know if they are waterproof though.

MintyIguana · 07/10/2020 14:43

@AnotherEmma I just looked at that Uniqlo one and there is a really nifty sizing tool that helps you choose. I might get it in green...

AnotherEmma · 07/10/2020 15:43

Thanks, I don't know how much I weigh but put in a random guess and it told me XL which was what I thought!

I fancy it in red...

Lottapianos · 07/10/2020 15:58

Thanks mnahmnah, have just ordered that in the lightest green colour, size 14. I'm a size 12 but want a bit of room for jumper and scarf so hopefully ok

SingingSands · 07/10/2020 16:15

Protected Species are amazing. I have the Commuter in khaki and absolutely love it.
Warm, dry, stylish - it took me an age to find!

Endlesscoathunt · 07/10/2020 16:33

It looks lovely @SingingSands! Is it warm then? Doesn't say anything about a lining?

I've been looking at so many coats/parkas that I have ads in my Facebook feed now Grin Some Jack Wolfskin ones might fit the bill, they look warm and pretty stylish - towards higher end of budget compared to some of the options on this thread.

Mines from Uniqlo, love it
