I can't find the right parka despite seemingly endless searching. I want something simple, with clean lines (no fur, or detachable fur), not too bulky but warm enough for winter. Water proof or water resistant.

These are examples of ones I like:
www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-winter-parka-khaki/p5099119 (sold out in my size Sad)

And

www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+coats+and+jackets/c0pcf/cotton+parka.htm?clr=C0PCF_OliveGrove_sw (dry clean only and super pricey)

Budget up to around 300... please help!

I've got this, I've been complimented on it, it looks really smart, it's warm and I got it as I admired it on someone else

Those of you who have Didriksons coats, what's the sizing and fit like?

delilahbucket · 16/11/2020 17:19
@delilahbucket did you buy the Wildwood in a Medium or Large? I want to get it but not sure whether to size up. Thanks x
@LightOfAThousandStars

I went for a medium. I have space for a thick jumper and scarf underneath. I wear a high street 12 and have very large boobs 😂. You won't need to size up.

LightOfAThousandStars · 16/11/2020 17:23

@delilahbucket thanks so much for getting back to me. It's a long wait to order online and then return if it's not right so this is helpful.

rk47 · 16/11/2020 21:27

@AnotherEmma I tried a few and found the sizes a bit big (especially the winter parka ones). The ones I tried you could pull the waist in well.

AnotherEmma · 16/11/2020 21:57

Thanks!

Paddingtonthebear · 18/11/2020 13:58

Well I’m back on the hunt as I decided to return the Fjallraven parka. I’ve ordered two more to try out from Aigle and Finisterre so hopefully one of those will be a winner

missmoon · 18/11/2020 14:04

Based on recommendations here (thank you so much!!!) I ordered a Didriksons parka from their website, but it's taking a long time to ship. Has anyone ordered from the website, and how long did it take to ship / to arrive?

Coffeepot72 · 18/11/2020 14:16

Apologies if this has already been suggested but I just bought this:

It's divine! :)

AnotherEmma · 18/11/2020 14:51

I'm back on the hunt as well; I decided that the JW Wildwood didn't fit me too well after all, and i just can't convince myself to like the Tog24 (which is the only one out of MANY that actually fits me well).

Paddington hope one of yours fits the bill!

PolkadotGiraffe · 18/11/2020 16:11

I have two protected species jackets. They are brilliant but once when I was caught in torrential rain it did soak through, I got drenched to the skin!

This parka is lovely and properly waterproof.

LightOfAThousandStars · 18/11/2020 16:29

I tried that Superdry Parka but felt it was too bulky on me and looked broad at the shoulders. Has anyone bought the Seasalt Plant Hunter? I've seen that recommended a lot.

Paddingtonthebear · 18/11/2020 16:57

Sea salt plant Hunter was too big and shapeless on me, I don’t think I’m tall and elegant enough for that style 😆

AnotherEmma · 18/11/2020 16:59

The OP got on well with it (petite version I think) but I didn't, I'm very curvy though (hourglass/pear)

Knittingnanny · 18/11/2020 17:16

I’ve got the north face Suzanne, best waterproof I’ve ever had, I never separate the layers just keep it all together for my winter coat
I’m short and a standard size 12 but had to buy a large and the padding makes it snug
I got it from the outlet at Portsmouth gunwharf quays for about half price a couple of years ago

Paddingtonthebear · 18/11/2020 18:08

I like the look of the Suzanne but the new version has very large branding on the front which I don’t like. The older version doesn’t. I may see if I can track down an older model.

What sort of length is the Suzanne? I prefer mid thigh to knee length

Knittingnanny · 18/11/2020 19:28

It’s knee length on me but I’m only 5’2

Paddingtonthebear · 18/11/2020 19:36

I’m 5’4 so could be ok. What’s the hood like?

Knittingnanny · 18/11/2020 22:23

It zips on and off to either layer, waterproof with a drawstring cord, very lightly quilted

sunsetandcocktails · 19/11/2020 20:31

Just to add into the mix...I've just received this Didrikson coat and LOVE it!! It's a simple design, very flattering and not bulky. 100% waterproof and warm.

I'm a size 16 on the bottom and 14 on the top. The size 42 fits perfectly. You can tighten the waist too for more shape.

You know that feeling you get when you're like 'Yes!!' and you haven't even got it fully on yet? I just knew it was the coat for me!

sunset
So glad you've found "the one"!
I've had my eye on that one for a while but didn't order it as I was worried it might not be a good fit.
Tempted to give it a go now!

LightOfAThousandStars · 20/11/2020 10:28

@sunsetandcocktails that looks lovely! Glad you found the perfect one.

Paddingtonthebear · 21/11/2020 14:57

I think the Aigle I’ve ordered is a keeper

AnotherEmma · 21/11/2020 14:58

Excellent! Which one did you get?
