Most stylish parka you've seen?

I can't find the right parka despite seemingly endless searching. I want something simple, with clean lines (no fur, or detachable fur), not too bulky but warm enough for winter. Water proof or water resistant.

These are examples of ones I like:
www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-winter-parka-khaki/p5099119 (sold out in my size Sad)

And

www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+coats+and+jackets/c0pcf/cotton+parka.htm?clr=C0PCF_OliveGrove_sw (dry clean only and super pricey)

Budget up to around 300... please help!

It's the Wildwood. I got a 10% discount code for signing up to the newsletter. I also like that it unzips from the bottom for sitting down or driving.

rk47 · 31/10/2020 10:03

What’s the length like @delilahbucket?

delilahbucket · 31/10/2020 10:20

I'm 5ft4" and it comes to just above my knee.

Runningdownthathill · 31/10/2020 11:18

I am really tempted by the Wildwood. I have never spent that much money on a coat in my life however. Is it really worth it?

minipie · 31/10/2020 11:24

Oh delilahbucket that’s the one I’ve been eyeing up! How small does it come up - I have narrow shoulders and torso and waist so need something quite small fitting there...

delilahbucket · 31/10/2020 11:52

@Runningdownthathill worth every penny. My dp bought one last year and he loves it, so I got one this year. I've got one of their waterproof jackets and despite being 8 years old, it looks as good as the day I bought it and it is only just starting to lose its waterproofing now, despite it being worn constantly.

@minipie I wear a high street 12, but despite smaller shoulders and waist, my boobs normally require a size 16 in something fitted, whereas this fits me perfectly with a jumper underneath with no bagginess on the shoulders. The waist is adjustable so I've just pulled it in. They offer free returns so you can try it on.

rk47 · 31/10/2020 13:13

Thank you @delilahbucket
It sounds great, I’m tempted by that one too but think I need an XS and it’s out of stock. Hopefully they’ll get more in or someone will return it

minipie · 31/10/2020 23:16

Thanks delilahbucket!

minipie · 03/11/2020 12:30

I have just bought this from Superdry and am really pleased with it. It’s not a parka really, it’s a down winter coat, incredibly warm (too warm for most autumn days but a godsend in winter) but somehow quite fitted rather than Michelin man. No huge logos unlike most Superdry stuff. It’s similar to some of the Canada Goose coats I think but costs a lot less and no real fur.

If anyone is looking for a slim fitting very warm coat I would recommend it. I’m 5’3 and it’s knee length on me.

I ordered this Danefae coat in the end
danefae.dk/en/lizzy-winter-parka-deep-ocean.html
Looks much better on the model than on me Grin
It's gorgeous but probably better if you're quite slim. Fits my bottom half ok but too big and unflattering on top half.
Shame because it's soft, light and warm. Fleece lining.

Oh I love that coat Emma - and I have the exact same colouring as the model so I am tempted. But I am tiny (5ft3) so it might dwarf me. I love lightweight coats and all the parkas I have ever tried have been too bulky and too heavy.
AnotherEmma · 03/11/2020 14:03

Hmm I think it would probably be too long on you I'm afraid. I'm 5'8 and it covers most of my thighs, finishing not too high above the knee.

If you want a lightweight coat try protected species (although last time I checked they were all out of stock sadly).

MissBridgetJones · 03/11/2020 14:05

@Zinnia

You have good taste *@Endlesscoathunt*!

Think that JL one will come back into stock by the way because it's part of the latest Erica Davies selection that just launched yesterday.

But I have what you're after! It's this parka from Arket. I've just bought the short version in the sale and it's fab. They sell quilted vests (in the men's section) that zip into it for warmth.

I have recently bought a Uniqlo Blocktech one and it's properly water repellent but very light, the Arket one much more robust.

These are the business - how do they fit size wise?
AnotherEmma · 03/11/2020 14:47

@Annasgirl
The Danefae Inge winter parka looks shorter and might be better for you

Thanks Emma - I don't like the protected species ones as I don't like the material.

I loved the other ones on that site so might look at the sorter one. Thanks

minipie · 04/11/2020 00:18

@Runningdownthathill the link’s in my post - where I’ve written “this from Superdry” click on “this”. Hope that helps!

minipie · 04/11/2020 00:21

@Annasgirl try the Sweaty Betty Stride parka. I’m 5’3 and it fit me well, I just wanted something very warm and it’s pretty thin - sounds like that’s what you’re after though.

Does anyone have a Boden Dunbar Parka?
I don't think there's much point ordering it as there's an 11 week wait (!) but I'm curious.

LadyEloise · 06/11/2020 10:37

@AnotherEmma
The Boden Dunbar looks great.
But an 11 week wait brings you towards the end of January. Shock

AnotherEmma · 06/11/2020 11:04

I know! By then there will be no point buying it!

LadyEloise · 06/11/2020 13:00

February and March might be very cold and wet. Smile

rk47 · 06/11/2020 13:26

It looks nice @AnotherEmma 11 weeks is ages though! I also wonder how waterproof it is.

I ordered the Jack Wolfskin Wildwood. It’s ok, I’m not wowed. And don’t think I can get over the zip being on the wrong side.

I also ordered one from O’Neill www.oneill.com/gb/en/journey-parka-jacket/0P6004-9010-L.html I think this is the best one I’ve had so far, might keep it. Photos of the black on look a bit weird on the website

AnotherEmma · 06/11/2020 13:46

@rk47 The O'Neill one looks good - I'm tempted by the teal colour! What's the fit like? It looks slightly fitted at the waist?

In other news, I have two new dresses from different shops in a size 14 and they both fit me nicely (relaxed not tight)... but all the size 16 parkas I've tried have been too small/tight... go figure! 🙄
