Shrillharridan · 14/10/2020 19:34

judy I did get scent after a while but not sure its very like the perfume...
Nice work foodie :)
Sote nuxe prodigeux (sp?) Body oil

Shrillharridan · 14/10/2020 19:36

I feel I should get perfume for xmas too...no idea what to plump for though...
I might ask for some more EB mugs. I love a decent mug.

FloraMacDonald · 14/10/2020 20:26

I want new earphones for Christmas. And ACDD.

EvelynBeatrice · 14/10/2020 23:46

SOTD my beloved Dior Homme Cologne. It’s my summer favourite but I needed a boost. Lemony gorgeousness but doesn’t last long. Keep meaning to buy Nuxe Le Matin de Possibles which I smelled pre lockdown in M&S beauty hall. I remember that it had some similarities - and was much cheaper. Somewhat to my horror my teenager loved the sample of My Way which I passed to her as the peachy opening become strangely BO smelling on my skin! She loves it and I hate the smell - very strong.

Benjispruce2 · 15/10/2020 06:51

@EvelynBeatrice I’ve not tried that Dior Homme but if you like lemony male fragrances then PP do a great Armani pour Homme dupe that is very close to the original. I often spray DH’s and his real Eau Sauvage.

EvelynBeatrice · 15/10/2020 07:46

Thanks Benji. Will try these when get the chance. Dior Homme Cologne becomes a skin scent only on me very quickly but I have never found anything I like so much. I think it’s quite feminine.

toffee1000 · 15/10/2020 08:32

Hello, have been on and off this thread in the past.
I can’t think of any perfumes I’d like for Xmas. In normal times it’d be easy to go into town and try a few things out... but COVID-19 has scuppered all that. I’m OK with the perfumes I have for now.
Maybe I’ll go for something else scented like a candle or a reed diffuser.
Didn’t wear a perfume yesterday, but the last one I wore was DKNY Be Tempted.

teta · 15/10/2020 20:40

I picked up my bottle of Miller Harris Tender today from TK Maxx. I like it ... which is a miracle for a blind buy. It's a Bernard Duchafour, so slightly different in a good way. I'm enjoying it's floral non- sweetness and the woody incense base, with a curious Ink note somewhere.
I also tried a Rocha's Femme sample. I enjoyed it but it's just not me . I just can't wear anything civety or Cumin influenced. Even though this one smells like clean sweat and I love the cinammon and plum notes. They really do smell of Christmas.
I hope all is well for everyone today and we are all relatively tier - free.
Dd1 is out of Covid isolation at Bristol Uni & celebrating her freedom tonight I'm sure.

SOTD Diptyque Eau Duelle.

teta we don’t have tiers in Scotland, but I think we are pretty high up - no household mixing indoors, no alcohol inside, curfew on hospitality.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/10/2020 20:52

I mean no alcohol inside bars of restaurants, you can drink in your home, but only with people you live with.

Shrillharridan · 15/10/2020 20:58

The County next to us goes into tier 2 on Saturday which is where pils live :(
I'd love to try rochas femme but I'm too nervous to blind but it (I don't have a great strike rate)
Sotd was m&s vanilla Woods. Pleasant and inoffensive.
I should get my 1st monthly years bloom subscription at the end if this month!
I'm amazed that neither of my dcs schools have had their bubbles sent home.
My nephews reception bubble has been sent home:(

toffee1000 · 15/10/2020 21:34

I’m in London which is going into tier 2 soon. We’ve barely been out since my dad was one of the ones who had to “shield”, so we were essentially “shielding” too.
I’ve not blind bought a perfume before. I’d be more likely to do it if it was a cheap thing rather than something fancy, like a perfume from Next rather than Guerlain.

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/10/2020 21:58

i need a laminator to label my dupes lol mabe i wil ask for that from santa
SOTD Coco chanel

actually i think i will get the real deal no19 for xmas
much more pleasure from the packaging......

we are London so tier 2 for us which is dull as anything now. love a bit of a halloween booze up while kids destroy the mean streets a la Motherland.

Benjispruce2 · 15/10/2020 22:24

Love Motherland Grin
Sotd was Eau Dynamisante again.

1frenchfoodie · 15/10/2020 23:55

EvelynBeatrice I can emphathise on lemony gorgeousness with poor longevity, made me think of Comme des Garcons x Monocle - Sugi. Beautiful lemon cypress that is not austere or jammy, just rounded and fresh. Has about zero staying power on me though.

SOTD Penhaligons ‘Much ado about the Duke’, fabulour deep red rose and wood, like a Narnian box of turkish delight.

FloraMacDonald · 16/10/2020 06:36

Ooh, I have a laminator Kali. My DC have laminated checklists all over the house. Maybe you need a label machine though? I'd love one of those, although I don't really need one. I make do with a Sharpie!
Evelyn, have you tried Gorse, by Laboratory Perfumes? It's a lovely lemony unisex. I can't remember about longevity, unfortunately.

How are you feeling teta & floofy? Hope you're both on the mend.

Deathraystare · 16/10/2020 09:08

I love Rochas Femme BUT it does contain Tuberose which I hate! I found that in a lot of otherwise lovely perfume so I am avoiding them now.

FloofyFoolishAndFragrant · 16/10/2020 09:23

Ugh there is so much stressful shit going on here and half of it isn't even CV related - and on that alone we are in a v high rate area, my DCs schools/colleges/unis all now have cases and closures and my lung condition has decided to play up. You couldn't make it up. (At least my teen DSs have impeccable hygiene, who knew it would only take a pandemic to sort that out Grin) Good job really as they are all at home!

Anyway back to perfume. Teta I am applauding a successful blind buy, surely the holy grail for all Perfumistas Grin Interested in MH reviews at the moment as I have cracked open the Velvet Cherry but not really assessed it yet as I'm quite fond of being able to breathe and this seems...errr....full bodied! I think the only other MH I've tried is Powdered Veil and I don't remember that being a monster? Anyway the VC bottle is nice and chunky but not quite as satisfying and pleasing to the hand as a Mary Greenwell heavy round lid Grin

I got my hair caught in a laminator at work once. Just a word of warning GrinI desperately want a label maker now. That would be a good Christmas present. I was pondering the logistics of having a sniffing session at a nice department store and how it would work with face masks...I don't remember the mask exemption list including To Avoid Perfume Blind Buys ...Wink

Hope all is well as can be with everyone else...

Shrillharridan · 16/10/2020 10:38

floofy
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well x
I've got a label maker!

FloofyFoolishAndFragrant · 16/10/2020 11:05

Right that's it. I'm getting a label maker. Any recommendations? I have lots to label Grin DH will tut if he sees me out of bed labelling things, I really am terrible for not resting when I'm told to (see also, shielding Wink)

I will start with labelling samples (sorry I can't see back who said that, inspired idea!) I looked back in my diary and saw I got my Autumn/Winter perfumes out of storage on the 14th October last year and haven't done it yet this year. It involves DH and the loft though. I have far too much stuff in a small house, this is why I need a label maker.

QueenOllie · 16/10/2020 13:15

SOTD - womanity
Candle - neom Christmas wish

Shrillharridan · 16/10/2020 14:23

Well.
I've just lost my shit at "d"h.
That.
I HATE when he talks to me like I'm stupid.
Grrrrrr

Shrillharridan · 16/10/2020 14:23

I'm going to put on a perfume he dislikes!

Benjispruce2 · 16/10/2020 17:18

I’m using a rose cleanser by L’Oréal at the mo and it smells great so sotd was 4711 rose cologne which I can still smell from 8am!
