judy we are frag twins today 😀
I'm using up my BTF dupes before I start the real juice

KaliforniaDreamz · 13/10/2020 18:10

Benjispruce2 i loves me a dupe!! i shall check out the site.

SOTD MH Fleur de sel and it is lovely and of course DISCONTINUED

KaliforniaDreamz · 13/10/2020 18:11

i have a few chanel nail varnishes (obv the ubiquitous rouge noir) and the quality is terrible

Benjispruce2 · 13/10/2020 18:59

I can’t splurge on nail varnish, though I’ve had Chanel in the past. Who has ever got the bottom of a bottle of nail varnish? I find Rimmel gel is good. Well I’ve ordered Jenny Glow C XIX and I’ll let you know if it’s anything like Chanel 19.

1frenchfoodie · 13/10/2020 20:57

SOTD a sample of Dreckig Bleiben, PMP perfums. A grubby name (stay dirty) and clear scent pyramid of vanilla, bergamot, vanilla but not really delivering on either for me. Currently dithering over a birthday self gift of MMM by the fireplace.

Benjispruce so true about never finishing nail varnish bottles. I like &Other Stories shades but that is as far from Rimmel I stray pricewise.

I’ve never tried a perfume dupe, not really sure where to look here in France - while fancy perfume shops seem omnipresent.

teta · 13/10/2020 21:07

I love the sound of that perfume @Frenchfoodie - very descriptive.
I'm freshly bathed and sprayed with Hesperys. But it doesn't smell good. Everything smells off at the moment.
Wondering whether I've got Covid.

I tried dior nail glow as its raved about on here...awful stuff.
Ditto Dior lip stain. Drying, nasty stuff.
I'll stick with lip balm and boots no7 gel look nail varnish!

Shrillharridan · 13/10/2020 21:08

Xpost teta
That doesn't sound good:(

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/10/2020 21:12

I know loads of people say Chanel nail polishes chip but I never have any problem with them, and I ALWAYS have painted nails. I use a textured base coat (Orly) and Essie topcoat, maybe that helps? I like Essie polishes a lot but tend to buy a Chanel from each collection unless they are nude-y colours which look absolutely horrible on me.

Oh, and I want to say I absolutely do not have fancy bags/shoes. I am mainly in trainers and DMs at the moment, and while I do like a good leather bag, mine are all Jigsaw sale, definitely no Mulberry or anything!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/10/2020 21:16

Oh no, teta. Hopefully you are just a bit stuffed up? I am annoyed tonight as my friend has told me her dc has travelled up from a hotspot in high level restrictions to stay. They have been completely gung ho about the “rules” since March, basically doing whatever suits their family, and it is so bloody selfish.

teta · 13/10/2020 21:25

No, I'm not stuffed up at all. I just feel really exhausted & cold/achy and I'm already in bed .
I'm enjoying the nail varnish chat. I love nail varnish on other people but tend to wear Essie's Ballet Slippers all the time as it's so easy. I've been meaning to try Dior lip and nail glow for years but after all your feedback I won't bother now.

teta · 13/10/2020 21:32

No, I'm not bunged up at all. Just tired and cold.

FloraMacDonald · 13/10/2020 21:46

I don't really wear nail polish. I tried the Door nail glow too and agree with shrill, it only lasts about 5 minutes.
I like handbags, but never go anywhere that requires one. I always feel overdressed carrying a bag on the school run.
SOTD has been Ealing Green. Its a nice fresh smelling green floral for a windy outdoorsy day.

FloraMacDonald · 13/10/2020 21:47

Dior thanks autocorrect!

Shrillharridan · 13/10/2020 21:48

french
Dooooo iiiittttt

Benjispruce2 · 13/10/2020 22:43

I do like nail varnish on real nails that are shortish. But I’m terrible at wearing washing up gloves and with the current constant hand washing at work(school) it would never last.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/10/2020 22:54

Mine are super short, which probably helps with staying power!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/10/2020 23:02

teta i would actually see if youre eligble for a test. your sense of smell being off is one of the big symptoms. Worth checking ont he symptom checker at least. it could well be any of the other 'normal' bugs that start up this time of year but if it is Covid, you need to know so you can isolate and everything. I hoep you feel better soon Thanks

FloofyFoolishAndFragrant · 14/10/2020 08:22

Oh teta how scary for you, I hope you are OK. Please keep us posted. Thanks

I haven't tried Jenny Glow but it looks nice. Agree that I wouldn't buy a dupe of small indie producer type perfume, but a brand like Jo Malone, for example, are bringing it all on themselves with their overpriced cologne Grin

I always advise my DC to get the best quality bags and shoes (and bed linen/mattresses!) they can as they will last longer and wear better. I would have said buy classic styles but getting to the age I am I realise that "trend" stuff always comes back into fashion eventually. As my DC are all wearing my 90s clothes and shoes they seem to have taken it on board Grin We buy a lot second hand on eBay/depop etc though. I don't get the MN love for Mulberry bags though. I dream of a classic Chanel 2.55 though!

Nail polish - I wear Seche Vite over everything and it's been a game changer. I quite like some Essie Shades but Ballet Slippers looks awful on me, I don't know why. Possibly just my blue cold hands Agree about Rimmel and Maybelline, I love Chanel shades but they are just a lot more expensive! I like China Glaze too as they do such a huge range. NPOTD Grin is Rimmel Darkest Desires which is actually quite similar to Rouge Noir I think. I could talk about bags and shoes and nail polishes and lipsticks all day and frequently do Wink

In other news, my MN Velvet Cherry has arrived but I am saving it as breathing in is slightly tricky this week without adding scent into the mix (this is extremely annoying as it's sitting there in its cellophane looking at me Angry) I cant find many reviews about this online.

FloraMacDonald · 14/10/2020 08:49

Sorry you are both feeling rough, teta and floofy. How are you today? Better I hope. Flowers, Cake & Brew

I really don't like finger nail varnish on me. I think it looks lovely on other people, but as soon as I wear it I think about all the hidden dirt. And I'm not really grown up enough for it. I love getting my toes done though. My lady was shielding all summer and has only just reopened. Not sure it's worth it now, as I'll be wearing boots or slippers for the next 6 months.
No SOTD yet as I have an exercise class (🥊🥊) this morning. Not sure what fragrance mood I'll be in by the time I shower.

Shrillharridan · 14/10/2020 10:57

Well...
I've got my mmm btf candle lit...and I smell nothing!
Sad

KaliforniaDreamz · 14/10/2020 11:16

Teta i hope you're ok xxxx

talking of candles don't bother with posh looking H&M ones, smell of nothing.

SOTD is a heady sweet comforting mix of
MH Coeur de Fleur (ALSO DSCONTINUED FFS) and PP Zafeer Oud Vanille - Alexandre.J

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/10/2020 15:58

How are you doing, teta?

How disappointing, shrill, I bet that cost a lot more than the St Eval ones.

SOTD Mitsouko.

1frenchfoodie · 14/10/2020 17:42

Those nails look lovely Judy , rarely paint mine now I am mainly working from home but mY just make the effort tonight.

I did order that FB of MMM By the FireplaceShrill , not that I really needed your enabling Smile . I got 5 free samples with it (3 for spend, 2 for my birthday) so also have DS&Durga Amber Kiso and Notorious Oud, Lorenzo Villoresi Patchouil, IUNX Eau Sento and Carner Barcelona Black Calamus (latter thanks to a Flora recommendation yonks ago) on their way.

Too rough to smell a new scent, that is bad floofy , hope it eases soon. And that you feel better today too teta

Benjispruce2 · 14/10/2020 17:48

Nice short nails @Judystilldreamsofhorses, love the colour too.
Sotd was Eau Dynamisante
