Happy New Year 💥✨❄️.
It’s the first time in ages I’m making no New Year resolutions❣️
I have next to no chance of sticking to a dry January, of buying less perfume or going on a diet🥴
Scent last night was L’ Occitane Lavender oil plus Montale Crystal Flowers.
@PearsMorgan Roses I recommend are:

La fille de Berlin
Une Rose
Rose Perfection by Piguet
Crystal Flowers by Montale
Plus the Rosine Roses are worth a try.

Happy New year all.
Sotd is a MM jazz club sample and is another going on the list.
The list will have to wait for a bit as we are having a new bathroom next month and our downstairs needs new flooring and redecorating. The extra wear and tear of having everyone home for lockdown has brought all the decorating plans forward

Shrillharridan · 01/01/2021 14:15

Happy new year all x

Was hoping to buy some perfume but the washing machine broke this morning. Sigh.

Shrillharridan · 01/01/2021 14:16

Stella is a nice rose

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/01/2021 16:53

SOTD Mitsouko for a freezing walk.

Calmasasleepycat · 01/01/2021 21:47

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry I have been missing. I’m trying to catch up with all the posts but it will take me a while.

Over the last few weeks I have had a lot of pleasure from strong perfumes like Tauer Au Coeur du Désert and Incense Rose, Rochas Femme, 4160Tuesdays Shazam! and Inevitable Crimes of Passion, Zadig & Voltaire This is Her and Carner Barcelona Besos. And it’s good for checking I don’t have the missing sense of smell symptom of Covid!

KateMAB · 02/01/2021 12:51

Afternoon, it's cold wet and miserable here so I'm in the last of my l'air du désert marocain sample.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/01/2021 22:25

SOTD L’Air de Rien.

FloraMacDonald · 03/01/2021 08:59

Happy New Year!

Thanks for the thought @1frenchfoodie. I've finished my sample, so I need to get on it.
Tauer Incense Extreme for me yesterday, which was lovely. I think there's something in a lot of Tauer perfumes which I sometimes can't smell at all but other times is massively overpowering and stomach churning. Very strange! Anyway, I couldn't smell it yesterday, which was good. It was also absent from Lonestar Memories the previous day. I really think it's hormonal.
I noticed @MrsLorensen seems to be MIA. Maybe she's still unpacking her perfume after the move.
Undecided about today's scent as I'm still in bed! I keep checking the news trying to decide if it's worth ironing the school uniform. I think not.

1frenchfoodie · 03/01/2021 10:17

Happy new year all.

SOTD Much Ado about the Duke. Been off perfume for a bit, feeling thoroughly miserable with increasingly painful tonsillitis. Turns out it was an abcess - it burst last night. Gross but going from pain 24/7 to feeling fine was wonderful. Though emergency doc and antibiotics have put my next FB (DS&Durga Cowboy Grass I think) just that bit further out of reach.

Interesting observation on hormones/scent Flora must resniff that Bowmakers I’ve recently gone off!

FloofyNewYearPerfumeResolution · 03/01/2021 10:22

"I'm doing a no buy for a year on perfume, makeup, skincare, hair care and body stuff. One rule which is if I run out totally, I can replace, because I'm not living without shower gel!"

@QueenPawPaws I am in awe of that resolve, can I ask - when you run out of an item can you replace it with something different or must it be the same item?

I've already failed at my Different Day Different Perfume resolution as I like the Xi'an perfume so much (it does have an apostrophe and it is also the name of a major city in China, I am horrifically ignorant, let's not mention the prospect of home schooling )

@FloraMacDonald I make my DC iron their own uniform and my clothes for me too but they are old enough to be enstrusted with heated electrical appliances. Harder if they are small. Just seen Boris says DC will be in school for Monday, so you can probably safely assume they won't be Grin

(Apologies for lighthearted tone, I know it's actually all a fucking nightmare for lots of parents, I think we are all doing so well keeping this thread so lovely and friendly and interesting and not descending into fights like the rest of MN at the moment Smile)

FloofyNewYearPerfumeResolution · 03/01/2021 10:27

@1frenchfoodie Oh poor you - that sounds grim. Hope you are 100% soon

(I recently discovered at the age of forty something that tonsils aren't the dangly thing at the back of your throat, they're at the sides. I actually considered starting a thread to ask if this was a revelation to anyone else but decided I would get burned to a crisp)

teta · 03/01/2021 10:48

That sounds excruciatingly painful @1FrenchFoodie. Glad it's sorted now.

I'm in awe of the New Years Resolutions.
My aim is just to survive this year 🤣
My twin 16 year olds really don't want to be at home 24/7 for months... like last time🤞
Too much togetherness is a bad thing... Lovely as they are ( mostly) when it comes to teenagers.
Sotd is Phaedon Hesperys for the calming vibes. I'm wearing a lot of soothing Lavender perfumes at the moment.

OP posts:
QueenPawPaws · 03/01/2021 10:54

@FloofyNewYearPerfumeResolution something different if I want but I suspect I will end up going for old faves. Only because if I run out of mascara and buy a rubbish one.. Grin
I've also added in clothes, shoes and handbags so it's effectively a years no buy on nothing essential!

Shrillharridan · 03/01/2021 12:04

french glad you're feeling better x
floofy my 2 aren't back until 12th and 18th respectively.
I was inspired by kate and wore LADDM yesterday too :)
Blimey its lush. Might wear ACDD today after my shower.
I bought a mmm whispers in the library candle with some Xmas money. Its lovely as a candle scent.
I'm on hair cutting duty later x 3 😬
I'm sure there is lots for me to do really....turns over in bed

riotlady · 03/01/2021 12:50

SOTD is Phaedon Oliban, very soothing to me. DD has been up since 4 and I feel like death warmed up. Going to try and rally and make some biscuits with her shortly

@FloofyNewYearPerfumeResolution WHAT? This is news to me too!

Does anyone fancy doing a sample swap btw? I’ve got quite a few I’ve sprayed once and decided it wasn’t for me and wouldn’t mind posting them off to someone in exchange for something new to sniff. Can post a list later if anyone’s interested but they lean a bit fresh/citrus in general

Shrillharridan · 03/01/2021 13:22

I've got loads riotlady thanks to my bloom subscription!

RazorstormUnicorn · 04/01/2021 07:49

I've come up with red bumps on my wrists wear and it's a bit itchy on and off.

I've mostly been wearing a few different 4160 scents over festive period but am going to give them a rest and then see if I can figure out which one is causing a reaction. I've got a feeling it might be Dark Heart of Old Havana which I am loving.

SOTD Floral Street - Wonderland Peony which is way too fresh and spring like for this dreary January day but I wore enough over the summer to be confident it's not that!

RazorstormUnicorn · 04/01/2021 07:51

Good grief some poor grammar and missing words from my opening line above.

I was trying to say 'where I would spray perfume' !!

QueenPawPaws · 04/01/2021 08:20

SOTD is this £5 one!
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Parfum-Hashtag/iloveYou-29957.html

1frenchfoodie · 04/01/2021 08:30

SOTD MMM By the fireplace, so warm and comforting for a chilly school run. Managed a 10h sleep last night as I recover from tonsil problems - woken by my 4yo loudly demanding a get well soon card (turns out the one she made me at the weekend was strictly quid pro quo)

It also took me til my 40s to figure that tonsils were at the sides Floofy. Still puzzled at what tonsil removal involves, seemed so logical for the dangly bit.

Just looked up Phaedon Oliban after your mention riotlady , going straight on sniff list. Sadly no sample swap for me as I’m not in the UK.

Shrillharridan · 04/01/2021 08:38

Me too!! Apparently the dangly thing is your uvula!
Another item for the perfumista venn diagram 😀
Bloody hell, first early wake up for work weeks and I'm feeling it. Bluergh.
I will also be in BTF today at some point.
Both dc will be having online lessons today so I'll go out later and get out of their way...

teta · 04/01/2021 10:33

I would be interested in a sample swop @Riotlady. Fresh citrussy scents are definitely my thing.

@Shrill how are you getting on with your Bloom Subscription? Have you found many perfumes you enjoy?

Wearing Ffern Winter today. I still can't make up my mind whether I love it or not. Sometimes it smells really good sometimes too bitter & earthy. I emailed Ffern to return it before Xmas & never got a confirmation back. And now it's too late to return apparently.

OP posts:
Shrillharridan · 04/01/2021 11:28

I'm really enjoying my latest which is an incense pack:)

Didn't like the dare to sniff one but many of you are much more daring/knowledgeable than I about niche scents.

Happy to send any samples - should I do a list? I've got some really unusual ones.

Shrillharridan · 04/01/2021 11:38

Right!
My Sample list:
Tauer LADDM
swedoft Rasputin
Zoologist Bee
Mendittorosa le mat
Pierre guillame animal mondain
Strangers perfumerie salted green mango
JUS sexycrush
Laboratory perfumes discovery set x 5 box

Also have the 4160 damn rebel bitches 50ml still for sale £25 inc postage
