I just blind-bought Mon Guerlain EDP! I've been meaning to try it for ages. Am I going to regret the full bottle??

PearsMorgan · 19/12/2020 09:11

@MotherOfDragonite nah you won’t regret it. The risk is always fun and you can eBay it if it doesn’t suit you.

My top picks this year are soooo predictable from previous posts:
Iso e super
Tauer incense extreme
Goutal encens flamboyante

And a couple of smells I haven’t posted about but I will associate with 2020:
Spanish baby cologne called Nenuco blind bought on eBay (something like £12 for half a litre) just in time for the end of the heatwave.
Jasmine plant that I left outside for the cold snap in November and is now flowering madly in my room - full on jasmine scent with a slight meaty edge.

FloraMacDonald · 20/12/2020 10:09

Well it's all a bit crap isn't it.
I should have a think about my top smells of 2020; maybe it would cheer me up. Black Calamus is definitely in there. I'll probably wear it today as it always makes everything seem a bit better.
I'm mostly overdosing on cheap Aldi candles this week.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/12/2020 20:47

SOTD MMM Jazz Club. We’re not in lockdown until Boxing Day, so I met a friend for lunch.

Shrillharridan · 21/12/2020 16:38

Sotd pp by the fireplace
Also burning the mmm btf candle

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/12/2020 22:20

SOTD NRFH. This is at its dregs now, I might look out for a reduced gift set as I have some JL credit.

Darklane · 21/12/2020 23:28

I’m new to these threads so please forgive if Im intruding. Thought you would be the best people to ask.
Could you tell me please what you know, & think, about the Liz Earle scents? Heard such mixed reports & hard to know if to try without being able to test.

1frenchfoodie · 22/12/2020 20:07

Welcome Darklane , can’t help on Liz Earle I’m afraid but the group is bound to have some (well informed) views.

No SOTD today, work is crazy busy and making me realise I seem to be in charge of all the adulting in my household so I’m in a low level and unperfumed strop.

Shrillharridan · 22/12/2020 21:10

dark
They all smell like antiseptic to me....sorry!
Sotd pp btf

Shrillharridan · 22/12/2020 21:10

judy kerp an eye on the k maxx - they had an NR gift set for £49 a couple of weeks ago...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/12/2020 22:11

SOTD Byredo Bibliotheque.

shrill I always forget about TKM, good tip!

dark I have LE 15 and like it very much at this time of year.very spicy. I think 1 is an inoffensive light floral, and 9 is (to me) a revolting fruity concoction.

Darklane · 23/12/2020 07:50

Thank you

FloofyIsStillNotFestive · 23/12/2020 10:26

@Darklane I think (may be thinking of something else, that's entirely possible ) LE No. 15 reminds me of Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf. If you have smelt that it may be similar. Although it may not so I'm not helpful really am I GrinAny decants or samples about on sale (Ebay etc?) so you don't have to blind buy a full bottle?

@PearsMorgan I liked your idea of non perfume scents from 2020 (although this year will be memorable for being shit rather than a happy year). Mine would be the inside of my tent in my garden in the hot weather

FloofyIsStillNotFestive · 23/12/2020 10:28

Also, I can't fucking find (excuse my language, I'm really annoyed) my Opium bottle which is my Christmas perfume and I wear it every Christmas Day. How can it have disappeared from a sealed storage box on top of my wardrobe Angry I am blaming the cat...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/12/2020 12:14

SOTD L’air de Rien. I am off to get my hair done, then take cat-face to the vet as she has developed a gammy leg. Pray for us both.

Shrillharridan · 23/12/2020 12:41

Merry Christmas fragrant ones ❤
Hope you find the opium! Perfect scent for Xmas 🎄

Darklane · 23/12/2020 13:58

After posting my first on here asking for advice,I’ve been reading, not all I admit yet, & it’s just so lovely so hope you don’t mind if I stay around.
Good luck at the vet, hope she’s ok, it isn’t easy when you can’t go in with them to explain properly or discuss things as you’d like.
Most of my perfumes tend to be the old ones, I’ve been trying for ages to find some newer ones for a change that don’t smell like air freshener on me. Some of my constant loves are Arpege, Rochas Femme & the old Miss Dior, not the new incarnation, which luckily I still have a few bottles of from years ago. I sorely mourn Ecusson by Jean D’Albret.

QueenPawPaws · 23/12/2020 14:07

SOTD 4160 Shazam
Candle - roja & co spiced fruit loaf
I feel all festive Grin

PearsMorgan · 23/12/2020 17:37

SOTD Ffern winter. Spicy but completely overwhelmed with smells of various Christmas things I am cooking today because it’s raining and we can’t go out. Need to force myself to do some
Les mills before I start drinking but it’s going to be difficult.

@FloofyIsStillNotFestive I like tree in summer idea. We are also having a postponed Christmas (parents overseas) but hoping it will be more like April.

Hotdogsforsale · 23/12/2020 18:39

SOTD Patch Flash. Still dithering about getting a replacement Vanilla Flash, but wanted something I've not bought before for Xmas. Gone with TF Tobacco Vanille which is just awaiting DH wrapping it up.

Just finishing last bits of Housework before I down tools for the next couple of days. Think I might have a long bath with all the good toiletries, and SOTE can be Oud Satin Mood. Might make me feel a bit festive.

RazorstormUnicorn · 24/12/2020 12:04

Hello! One of my lockdown distractions this year has been the hunt for a perfume I like (nearly 40 and never bothered much before). I've been dipping in and out of this thread and wanted to say hi and thanks to all those who contribute Smile

I seem to have developed a 4160 Tuesdays addiction which is so far a lot of fun. I have three bottles from here and also a dipytique from an advent calendar. I suppose I'd better pause shopping here for a bit and get on with using and enjoying them!

EvelynBeatrice · 24/12/2020 17:31

Happy Christmas Eve lovely parfumistas. My chocolate and raspberry cake layers produced at child’s request for tomorrow have not risen properly .... will sandwich with raspberry cream and hope for the best and turn into trifle for Boxing Day. Am consoling myself with thoughts of my perfume treats for tomorrow. I’m still on hunt for my signature non sweet boudoir powdery signature fragrance. Tomorrow I will have a new one to try - Cavalli’s nero assoluto - and an old (though too sweet) powdery favourite - E Arden’s True Love - under the tree to sample and console me for my baking ills. Wishing you all a fragrant Christmas and perfumed ( and Covid-free) New Year.

1frenchfoodie · 24/12/2020 20:12

Fragrant christmas all. Finally stopped work this afternoon, woohoo. Sprayed some nice spicy, woody rose, Penhaligans’ Much ado about the Duke to celebrate and whipped up a batch of homemade Baileys.

Nice idea to have a postponed get together in summer Floofy , we’ve got together 12-15 family every Christmas over the last few decades; so strange to just be me DH and DD this year.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/12/2020 20:41

SOTD Chanel 19 Poudre. Merry Christmas Eve, perfumistas! I hope everyone has the best day they can under the circumstances tomorrow. 🎄🎅🏼

Shrillharridan · 25/12/2020 20:11

Merry Christmas 🎅

Sotd pp btf for a chilled out day.
