Sotd is jm oud and bergamot, its OK, but not loving it and the kids aren't impressed at all it so it will be one for the reject pile.
So far ACDD is the clear winner, with By the fireplace a very close second (though DH doesn't know how much they cost yet)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/11/2020 20:51

SOTD Black Opium.

flora yes, I did, and highly recommend. The fragrance is lovely, great throw, and it has burnt really nicely. I am going to buy another one on payday! Delivery was quick and also free.

MrsLorensen · 25/11/2020 23:53

Hello Lovelies. Real Life is rather demanding here at the moment - hope you're all doing OK? I'm needing to conserve energy for an impending house move. I have knocked up a virtual calendar but if there is still interest, I will need to handover the administrator baton to another perfumista.

This isn't too onerous - just need to pair up participants, allocate dates, and email out the secret editing link beforehand. If there are any volunteers, email me and I'll send the editing links. Lots of love to all, and apologies to Pots - will post when I get a bit more headspace.

SOTD Pierre Guillaume Liqueur Charnelle after Flora’s reminder, was heavy, really cloying and too sweet for me. I much prefer tobacco without vanilla.

MagicMatilda · 26/11/2020 05:22

SOTD Hermes, Twilly

A bit grown up for me but every time I use it, it makes me feel amazing and lovely for winter as pretty strong.

riotlady · 26/11/2020 12:23

SOTD Parterre A Tribute to Edith. Smells really strongly like an old fashioned sweet shop (rhubarb and custard and pear drops) then a sort of sour rose then seems to have disappeared completely after 2 hours. Was hoping for something a bit more elegant, given it was supposedly inspired by Edith Piaf.

Form1ess · 26/11/2020 19:14

SOTD A city on Fire by Imaginary Authors. It's supposed to smell of burnt matches and it does, the opening has a whiff of 'deep heat' to me and is rather challenging but it dries down to a much more gentle smokey scent.

Anyone going for the 4160 Tuesdays January joy box?

PearsMorgan · 26/11/2020 19:29

@Form1ess maybe now you’ve alerted it to my existence...

PearsMorgan · 26/11/2020 19:29

SOTD lots of iso e super

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/11/2020 20:14

Hello, mrsL, hope you’re okay. ❤️

SOTD Mitsouko. I don’t wear this nearly often enough.

teta · 27/11/2020 09:43

Sotd is Ffern summer 19. In cooler weather the incense rather than the citrus is a lot more prominent. So i'm currently wafting around smelling of a Catholic church.
Has everyone changed names again? Or are there lots of newbies? I'm easily flummoxed.

I just posted a new thread about PP oils smelling similar but then I remembered you perfume aficionados!
Would any of you say that Delina, Halfetti and Ajmal Wisal smell similar? I have the PP oils in these three and they are so alike - really hard to differentiate albeit the Ajmal is the strongest. Is it a problem with the PP dupes or are they actually similar?

Form1ess · 27/11/2020 18:33

SOTD was Elizabethan Rose but it's been swamped by cooking smells. Sorry JMAngel1 I'm not familiar with those apart from Halfetti.
Attempted the 4160 Tuesdays Hot Pink Friday sale but things kept disappearing from my basket when I when to pay which was annoying but better for my bank balance.
Teta I'm an occasional poster, I used to have a different name but I can't remember what it was. My dream fragrance is Creosote, freshly laid tarmac with a bonfire in the distance, probably better keeping that to myself.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/11/2020 22:25

SOTD MMM Fireplace. I think we need to get a sweep in and get the coal fire going, it is SO cold here.

JM sorry, no idea, but hopefully someone who does know will be along soon.

1frenchfoodie · 28/11/2020 12:11

form1ess for creosote and fire have you tried Naomi Goodsir’ Bois d’ascese? It is one of my smoky favourites. I’d offer a sample but that won’t work unless you are also in France.

riotlady · 28/11/2020 12:54

SOTD Swedoft Endless Happiness. Smells like a chai latte and it DOES make me happy :)

I’ve been reading Perfumes: The Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez and cackling at some of the one line reviews, it’s so good! Also been adding quite a lot of perfumes to my “to try” list.

teta · 28/11/2020 13:58

@1frenchfoodie Luca Turin are endlessly entertaining & caustic . I remember downloading it on my Kindle & not agreeing with everything he & Tania Sanchez wrote.

Sotd is Marina Barcenilla Patchouli Clouds. It's sharp astringent patchouli is man enough to cut through the gloom today.

I've also just d a.b.t. Just bought a bottle of Idyll by Romilly Wilde on evil bay. The perfumer is Marina Barcenilla & I've been looking for a cheap bottle for a while 🧡🤎.

I’ve got a headache and perfume isn’t doing it for me today. SOTD escentric 04, which I like more than molecule 04 on its own but not that much. If I could find my sample of by the fireplace I think that would work but I’m in bed all cosy and can’t be bothered to get up and look for it.

KateMAB · 28/11/2020 17:26

Sotd ACDD.
(I love the smell of creosote, bonfires and tar too formles)

PearsMorgan · 28/11/2020 17:29

I love a subtle creosote, like green string and garden centres. We went out for a walk earlier and there were lots of bonfires and wood fires perfuming the fog.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/11/2020 20:35

SOTD Diptyque Eau Duelle. It’s so cold here today, really frosty.

Form1ess · 29/11/2020 17:15

Thank you for the very kind offer @1frenchfoodie, I do have a sample of Bois d’ascese so that's my SOTD. Glad I'm not alone in my choice of smells.

MotherOfDragonite · 30/11/2020 13:46

Hello again lovely perfumistas. It's been a hell of a year -- I haven't even been bothering to change my perfume (or think about it, or even buy any more). Shocker.

Now it's colder I'm stuck on Tauerville Vanilla Flash. It smells really good on me. I feel like it didn't smell this good on me last autumn?! Or maybe I'm imagining things. Anyway, that's pretty much all I've been wearing.

I was really tempted by the sound of some of the J. F. Schwarzlose on TKMaxx a while ago -- especially Trance or Leder. But I'm telling myself not to blind buy. Did any of you get any of those bottles?!

Lotsofpots · 30/11/2020 16:05

Hi you lovely lot. It's been a while since I've been here. I've kind of lost my perfume mojo. Wearing my go to autumn things, still like smelling like pudding, haven't bought anything new (perfume-wise) for yonks.

Enjoying making my house smell like Christmas though.

Hope you're all well x

MotherOfDragonite · 30/11/2020 16:45

Hello pots!!! Nice to see familiar names. I think you are quite right about the puddingy vibe. I feel that a bit of Captured By Candlelight would hit the spot nicely!
