Im in Tier 3 here. So no mixing of households etc etc. On a technicality i can still see my sister because shes one of my carers and i can see my brother because he lives alone so he's 'bubbled' with us. Otherwise i see no one else. Havent seen my son in weeks now but thats more because hes busy with college and his horse and just doesnt have time for his old mum right now (he doesnt live with me, im nto sure if ive explained that here before?)!! hes doing so well so i cant hold it against him Smile

SOTD is Philosphy Pure Grace, soapy and clean smelling, nice to spray on when i want soemthign easy and not complicated

teta · 29/10/2020 10:07

Sotd is Puredistance White - just right for an utterly miserable wet day. Yesterday was Private Collection Jasmine white moss for an absolutely freezing day here.
@MissBattleaxe I'm so excited that M.Barcenilla has decided to start making perfumes again. I think she's one of the most talented perfumers out there. @1frenchfoodie her Patchouli Clouds is beautiful. I used to really dislike Patchouli ( memories of my youth/afghans & the UMIST heavy metal disco) but it's so stunning in this, it must be a really fantastic quality Patch.

SOTD Chanel Coco.

1frenchfoodie · 29/10/2020 19:59

SOTD was Penhaligon’s Much Ado About the Duke, a woody, deep velvety rose I always compare to the box of turkish delights in Narnia. It was a birthday gift this time last year and has given me so much pleasure since.

JudyStilldreams , lockdown II France style seems similar to UK tier 3. leaving home only for groceries/essential goods, medical/caring visit or up to 1h walk/run within 1km radius of home, armed with timed self certificate to justify the trip. In contrast to last time Primary/secondary Schools will remain open - with masks for 6yo and above. employers can provide certificates for travel to work if homeworking is impossible - mine is focused on 100% homeworking. In place til 1december.

FloraMacDonald · 29/10/2020 22:32

Hope you feel better Benji.
I think I'd like to try Much Ado About the Duke. Is it very masculine, french? I tend to like unisex fragrances more.
I've been lightly spraying with Firedance. I still maintain it's Too Much of a Good Thing, but as I've been fighting with a smoky woodburner today, it seemed fairly appropriate.

QueenPaws · 30/10/2020 00:34

I'm stuck on glossier you at the minute. That and AG cloud are the 2 perfumes that feel most "me" if that makes sense!
I did wear gypsy water yesterday Smile

Burning a new candle from here, I got the quietude and the winter set and they are DELICIOUS https://www.thebotanicalcandleco.co.uk
Half light is probably my favourite but first light is a real wake you up scent

Bluesheep8 · 30/10/2020 07:11

SOTD today will be Body Shop White Musk. I also have white musk oil for my burner whilst I WFH.

1frenchfoodie · 30/10/2020 09:55

Much Ado is definately unisex Flora but I wouldn’t say too masculine the spicy richness is that of a deep, velvety old fashioned rose and the wood is a background harmony not overly cigar club or anything like that.

SOTD DS&Durga Bowmakers - woody, varnish, waxy vibes that bring to mind a musical instrument makers workshop.

KaliforniaDreamz · 30/10/2020 13:07

SOTD is deep heat as i also have a bad back ffs i hate getting old

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/10/2020 14:33

SOTD FM POAL. Thank goodness it's Friday!

MissBattleaxe · 30/10/2020 19:27

@teta Your parcel arrived today and it blew me away. Thank you! So much to dive into. Your kindness is about to be reciprocated. Flowers

Shrillharridan · 30/10/2020 20:03

PearsMorgan · 31/10/2020 08:33

I’ve been having a Mojave Ghost week for no particular reason. Who else is massively pissed off and struggling to get out of bed today?

teta · 31/10/2020 13:13

Me @PearsMorgan.
Couldn't sleep last night.
Great @MissBattleaxe, I hope you enjoy the testing.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I am having margarita

ForSaleChesterDraws · 31/10/2020 21:12

Can I ask where you guys buy samples from? I tend to alternate between Bois Des Iles and Shalimar but want to try something else.

I wanted to try Le Labo 22 and 33, Tam Dao and a couple of others.

Any other recommendations that you think might be worth testing out would be welcome too!

Shrillharridan · 31/10/2020 21:25

Hi chester
Welcome!
I get samples from les sentures (but you'll need to order before 2nd nov!) And bloom perfumery.
4160 tuesdays do great sample packs too.
Otherwise its good old ebay for anything specific...I ordered a 5ml sample of rochas femme today 😃

Well, another 4 week lockdown ahead. We may all be stuck indoors but we will smell INCREDIBLE 💜

ForSaleChesterDraws · 31/10/2020 21:29

Thanks @Shrillharridan. Won’t it be like last lockdown when online shops will be able to function? Who knows! I love Les Sentuers, not been there in years!

1frenchfoodie · 31/10/2020 22:35

Hi Chester I get samples from Nose.fr , they do a ‘diagnosis’ based on perfumes you already like and suggest a pack of samples that you can (from memory) change for ones you perfer with the cost is refundable against future purchases. They carry some interesting brands I don’t see around much and I think european delivery is free..

I forgot about Nose! I’ve just ordered 2 sample packs with only 1 overlap. A grand total of €25 including postage to the UK for 10 samples. I’m very excited!
