I love that @Faustina, it looks lovely on you. Does it come up stupidly big like most of their stuff ie 1 or 2 sizes down?

ToastCosILoveIt · 20/10/2020 20:19

I can see Laska has asked exactly the same question!

Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 20:22

I ordered it ToastcosILoveit just wondering if I should get the 10 also jic...

Yorkshirelass04 · 20/10/2020 20:23

@spottyegg I think the S would be fine also. It's very stretchy. Let us know how you get on!

Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 20:33

I meant to say also Faustina , I really liked those Justine Tabak clothes you linked too.. Have you ordered from them before?

faustina · 20/10/2020 20:46

It's an 8 - honestly I'm ridiculously pleased with it - so glad you like it too! I'll measure it tomorrow when it's light. There's loads of material - it's very swishy, but it doesn't feel too big if you know what I mean. I think it helps that it's a dark colour. It sits just right on the shoulders, around the neck etc. Might be worth ordering a 10 too, if you're bigger than me, just to compare (I would because the pale blue sold out so quickly)

I've never ordered from Justine Tabak - I read about her in a Guardian article on prairie dresses and just loved her stuff - it's very pricey though! And from someone who never wears dresses, I think having two is enough for the time being!

What does pit to pit mean?

Craftycorvid · 20/10/2020 20:52

faustina. ‘Pit to pit’ = ‘armpit to armpit’.

Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 20:52

Measurements arm pit to arm pit please Faustina just for the bust size..then I can decide whether to grab a 10 or not.. I really do like it on you ..

Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 20:53

I think I will order it anyway ,can always send back
.

faustina · 20/10/2020 21:33

@Laska2Meryls - ok, will do it tomorrow!

mizu · 21/10/2020 07:30

Pit to pit Grin that's the only question I ever ask on eBay. Pit to pit measurements please!

Craftycorvid · 21/10/2020 09:37

Ah, those of us blessed in the nork department know that question well! Grin

Laska2Meryls · 21/10/2020 09:42

🤣🤣🤣 crafty Too true!

Laska2Meryls · 21/10/2020 09:43

I think so many clothes manufacturers think we are all still B cup ( standard size for dress patterns in the 50s I believe)

faustina · 21/10/2020 11:28

.. so much for waiting til it's light - it's the gloomiest day ever here!

If the is what you mean, then it measures 56cm

Toast the fourth!
Laska2Meryls · 21/10/2020 12:38

Oh that's great, thanks Faustina I think that the 8 will definitely fit me then

ToastCosILoveIt · 21/10/2020 13:32

Thank you all for the size info, very handy!

I've ordered the Kin cord navy dress in 8 and 10, and the blue cord top in 10. Those out to pit measurements are very generous so we will see. I recently ordered a Kin white blouse in 10 and had to send it back for the 8 which is still generous!

When I ordered the cord dress, the John Lewis website said I was the 23rd person to have bought the dress in the last 24 hours!

faustina · 21/10/2020 14:03

Glad the measurements worked and hope they fit you both. Please show me the shirt when you get it? I think I'm going to have to sit on my hands for a while but I could be tempted if it's extra special - I have the soft black Gabi trousers and I thought it might look good with those?

I ordered a gingham shirt by Kin in the summer in an 8 and that was way bigger than the cord dress - it went straight back

luggageandbags · 21/10/2020 14:11

I have received the pleat cord trousers in brown slate and they shall be promptly coming back. www.toa.st/uk/product/c4pea/cord+tapered+trousers.htm

They are beautiful colour and lovely heavy cord but way too wide at the waist - wide waist plus wide legs makes me look like a clown. Still not giving up, and hoping a smaller size may sit higher/more neatly. Tempted to drive to the nearest shop to try them in different sizes.

On a wider note, was relieved that DP wasn't home when the postman knocked to deliver yet another parcel. You know you should rein it in when you start feeling embarrassed at the amount of stuff you buy. But I don't get many other pleasures these days...

ToastCosILoveIt · 21/10/2020 14:18

Of course, will show you the shirt Faustina. I expect it's going to be too big. It's being delivered to my local Waitrose tomorrow after 4pm.

On another note, I have the trailing leaf pin tuck dress and am wearing it today. I'm 5ft 5 and it's mid shin. I'm wearing it with the black solovair monk strap shoes. It's a beautiful dress, falls really well. I have a 12 as I'm busty but otherwise could have got away with a 10.

faustina · 21/10/2020 19:17

@ToastCosILoveIt - sounds like a wonderful combination! Was it you who posted the pics of that dress a few days ago?

@Laska2Meryls - Remember when I said Plumo didn't seem to triple their prices anymore like you said? I take it all back! I've just ordered some clogs they're selling (except not from them and not for their extremely inflated price!)

Fortherosesjoni70 · 21/10/2020 20:10

@faustina I remember they had some of the lace up gym type shoes - novesta and they were way dearer than toast. Really a ridiculous mark up.

Yorkshirelass04 · 21/10/2020 22:47

This arrived today: https://www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+loungewear/cjpao/gingham+cotton+cashmere+dress.htm?searchref=%2fresultssolr.aspx%3fsrchhkeywords%3dGingham%26keywords%3dGingham%26seoterm%3dGingham%26&clr=cjpaoblackecru

I got the last small!

I'm unsure about it. It is voluminous. Then again, I feel like that's part of Toasts charm and I am just so used to wearing fitted dresses and perhaps this is actually more edgy? Toast tend to challenge me in how I expect clothes to be. That's not a bad thing.

There is no zip at the side, it is literally a pull on so clearly meant to be big enough to squeeze in and out of.

Any other ideas about styling for this one?

Fortherosesjoni70 · 22/10/2020 07:17

I returned that dress and have no regrets. It was a bit neat in the bust and just to big everywhere else. Lovely material but not keen on shape of it. I disliked the back esp on me. It stuck out.
Styling wise? Ankle boots or brogues. It was quite long on me.

mizu · 22/10/2020 07:32

Yorkshirelass LOVE that dress. I would wear with tights and my blundstones but depending on the length on you, you could wear without tights!!!!!
