A question for the TOASties, how does wearing TOAST make you feel?

Craftycorvid · 19/10/2020 08:22

Ooh great question, Yorkshirelass!

Wearing Toast makes me feel....pulled together but not contrived; that I can express who I am ie the clothes don’t ‘wear me’.

mizu · 19/10/2020 08:44

Yes, pulled together is a good way of putting it. I teach and wearing a TOAST dress - usually denim this time of year - means I don't have to think about what I'm wearing at all. I pull on the dress in the morning and feel ready.

Craftycorvid · 19/10/2020 08:59

Did you score your eBay sweater, Mizu? I didn’t bid on it but it went for quite a good price.

Saurus72 · 19/10/2020 09:26

@AuldFox Morning, I’m 5ft5 and it’s a maxi dress on me. Sizing is generous too - I sized down from my usual Toast size. It’s not a cheap dress but I’m very pleased with it, I think it will be flexible and something I can wear most of the year with boots/tights or sandals.

AuldFox · 19/10/2020 10:56

Thanks that’s really helpful saurus I’m a bit shorter but I’ll pop in and give it a go when I’m next near a shop Smile

Pearlessence · 19/10/2020 11:14

Does anyone remember what glove brand they used to stock? Really lovely leather gloves with a knitted part for the wrist

luggageandbags · 19/10/2020 12:40

@Yorkshirelass04 That's a really good question. Thinking of my Toast items, I think the overall feeling I get from them is comfortable (in the sense that I'm confident that the clothes suit me, that they are not super trendy, different but not out there).

Countmeout · 19/10/2020 12:48

Thanks @faustina. Good info re the dress again, when you say maxi length on you at 5’5” do you mean about your ankle bone?

@Fortherosesjoni70 / @Fortheroses - that you Never ? 🤔
Have you washed yours yet? And if so was there shrinkage? I read the reviews about button moving, the ones that fit me at the moment do button (first thing in the morning- I seem to expand as the day goes on) and I wondered if I moved 2 of the buttons on the smaller ones would they be ok - until I abandon the scones- as I thought they might stretch , but if they shrunk on washing I’d be 🤦‍♀️
Obviously I can’t move the buttons to test that. So I’m debating again, going to hold on to both for another week to decide.

mizu · 19/10/2020 17:06

crafty no Sad it went up so high! Was watching a few of the fair isle but plumped for bidding on a burnt orange jumper that I love and is rarely seen on eBay that is wildly popular. 118 watchers. It went for £90 and I just couldn't do it! Went high but not that high.

faustina · 19/10/2020 17:07

@Countmeout - I think you need to direct it to @Saurus72!

I've just ordered two really nice (hopefully) non-Toast dresses

kin needlecord
and
the And/Or denim della dress which I can't seem to link to

Craftycorvid · 19/10/2020 17:31

Mizu. Yes, the eBay bidding can go nuts, can’t it? When people are basically paying close to the price something would be brand new, it’s kinda pointless unless it’s something incredibly rare.

Countmeout · 19/10/2020 18:53

Sorry @faustina I’m obviously more confused than usual 🤦‍♀️

Saurus72 · 19/10/2020 19:38

@Countmeout - it’s the pandemic 🙄😊. It comes to a couple of inches above my ankle. I tried to take a better picture with ankle boots but tbh not sure it helps at all...

Countmeout · 19/10/2020 19:47

Oh yes @Saurus72. Thank you. I may try it, nearly enough sold on eBay. I thought I’d like to wear it on Christmas Day, but as it’s just been suggested I buy a frozen turkey to hedge my bets as the catering on the day may be up in the air and impossible to predict whether there’s going to be 2,3 or 8 of us maybe a Christmas Day dress will be superfluous.

Laska2Meryls · 19/10/2020 20:12

Faustina I have bought that Kin dress also and also
thought id give the cord shirt a go as well .
However I think that really prefer the paler blue dress and hope that may come back in my size

Fortherosesjoni70 · 19/10/2020 20:12

@Countmeout

Yes. I was @neveradullmoment99 but changed it :)
mizu · 19/10/2020 20:34

crafty I did however buy a Margaret Howell for Tate smock GrinGrin

faustina · 19/10/2020 21:59

@mizu - lucky you!! I love those smocks

@Laska2Meryls - we'll have to compare and contrast when they turn up! I liked the shirt too - I bet there will be returns of the pale blue dress if that's what you prefer - I thought of getting that even though it's too pale for me, so I was delighted to see it In navy.

John Lewis seem to be doing really well don't you think? Loads of things disappearing out of stock very quickly. There was a nice Barbour navy cord dress too but it's completely out of stock now

Worth a try I thought.. the 20% code worked for me using paypal even though I have bought previously

Spottyegg · 20/10/2020 11:32

So - if I was thinking about the Sali jumper and prefer my jumpers oversized, and I was a size 10/34in bust, would a small work? Hypothetically of course! @Yorkshirelass04, @Laska2Meryls

Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 13:24

Spottyegg yes S would be fine, Mine was M and a bit big really. It is very thick ( although light) and a bit hairy as its alpaca. I didn't keep mine as I had last year's version which I decided that I preferred.. and tbh its so warm I never wear it indoors ( except for our cold warehouse office a few times last winter)

Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 13:29

I would say that I was usually an M in Toast jumpers at 36 bust (my easy wool and broken striped sweaters are both M although I did size down to S in the graphic jumper).

faustina · 20/10/2020 18:14

The Kin needlecord dress is just the loveliest thing ever - I am so pleased with it! I know it isn't Toast so I hope no-one minds me wittering on about it - it's kind of nice to have something to be happy about on a day when all the news is so bleak

it's very like the Justine Tabak dresses I'd been admiring except a third of the price - and also reminds me of cord pinafore type dresses I wore as a child

Do you think a big black wool coat would look ok on top? If not, any other suggestions would be very welcome

Hope you like yours too @Laska2Meryls - oh and the shirt - would love to see a pic of that!

Toast the fourth!
Laska2Meryls · 20/10/2020 20:17

Ooh thats lovely Faustina I am away atm so wont have it until I get home on Thursday but its being delivered tomorrow..
Can I ask you what size yours is and if its an 8 or 10 what the bust size pit to pit is? I have ordered the 8 as kin does come up big
and I have had 8 previously in their oversized cut. But usually I am a 12 or 14 around norks
