@NoCureForLove bigger! The jL ones no longer available. Toast ones too expensive for me. Over the ten years I have been buying from them I reckon their prices have doubled., Angry

And/Or Paloma dress arrived ( excuse jeans I couldn't be bothered to take them off) . Really like it but I think that I may reorder it a size smaller.. Really nice fabric and quire Toast-esque I think

It's lovely @Laska2Meryls - a bit like the Toast Ume dress that was on sale recently (without a pattern obvs!)!

NoCureForLove · 10/10/2020 20:16

I like the colour on you Laksa but I'm not sure it's soooo flattering. Looks a bit big / shapeless - and you are not those things.

faustina · 10/10/2020 20:17

@Ellapaella - thanks!

So the pinafore dress arrived today and it's quite close fitting which I'm not sure I want. I might try it in a bigger size perhaps. will take pics tomorrow for the person who wanted them

And I'd really appreciate opinions on this dress - it's the softest cord - so lovely. It turned up hideously crumpled though - can you iron that kind of corduroy (very thick and soft)? And secondly do you think it looks ok?

please ignore the fact that I'm wearing a different boot on each foot - still can't decide whether to keep one pair or both!

@Laska2Meryls - missed your pics! That colour looks amazing on you! Yes, I think trying a smaller size would be a good idea (also taking the jeans off) Grin

NoCureForLove · 10/10/2020 20:22

Which cord dress is that? I really like it. My tumble dryer has a warm air / smoothing option and that's what I'd use to uncrease it. It is just cotton...

ScottishMouse · 10/10/2020 20:22

@faustina I ordered that dress and ended up sending it back. The fabric is lovely, and the colour too. I think it looks better on you than it did on me, it was a weird length on me. But I’m not sure I love how a-line it is (generally, not particularly on you), I think a straighter cut would have been so much nicer and more stylish. Not sure I’m helping much, it’s a tricky one this.

NoCureForLove · 10/10/2020 20:25

Whereas I LOVE A line Smile

Laska2Meryls · 10/10/2020 20:25

Yes, definitely a smaller size is needed I think ..

Nocureforlove Thanks xx.. What a lovely thing to say..

Laska2Meryls · 10/10/2020 20:28

Faustina is that the toast olive corduroy dress? I love it!! Yes you can iron but best to do so on wrong side and lowest heat setting where you can steam

faustina · 10/10/2020 20:31

@ScottishMouse - it's surprisingly short isn't it! I think because it's so soft, the A line thing doesn't show as much (if you see what I mean) - so hard to take pics of it though.

@NoCureForLove - here it is cord tunic dress

Laska2Meryls · 10/10/2020 20:34

It looks so much better on you than in the Toast photo Faustina

Countmeout · 10/10/2020 20:53

I love that colour @Laska2Meryls but it does look a bit big, would love to see it without the jeans.
Yes that cord dress does look better than the photo on the web site @faustina. The colour also shows much better. It’s the sort of dress I imagine a steamer would be useful for, does anyone have one, thinking of asking Santa for one. I always worry about flattening cord.

Craftycorvid · 10/10/2020 21:08

Great colour on you, Laska and I love your hair.

Faustina steam iron corduroy on the wrong side and you’ll be fine. Or if it’s only lightly creased, hang in the bathroom whilst you have a bath/shower and the steam will drop the creases nicely.

faustina · 10/10/2020 21:15

Thanks for all the advice about ironing - It's been such a long time since I had anything in cord and I was worried about flattening the (whales?) - I'll try the bath idea in the morning. It is a beautiful colour - one of those colours that changes with the light. Will try it again tomorrow

@Laska2Meryls - did you try it without the jeans at all? it might hang much better if you do

AuldFox · 10/10/2020 22:05

faustina agree about the ironing on the reverse side, and use lots of steam!

mizu · 11/10/2020 09:37

That cord dress is amazing. Love the colour.

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/10/2020 09:54

The Sali Hughes' jumper is in the Times Style magazine this week under "How to wear Fair Isle knits".

Yorkshirelass04 · 11/10/2020 10:40

@ToastCosILoveIt Right that's it. I've just ordered it. The FOMO is just too much.

Will post pics when I can. The yellow jumper and check culottes are also unopened downstairs if people want to see them.

Spottyegg · 11/10/2020 11:15

Just sent back the kin trousers in a 10 in black as they were too big in the waist for me, but nice shape. Cos for me maybe next - has anyone tried these cords?

mizu · 11/10/2020 11:27

fautina can I ask how tall you are.

faustina · 11/10/2020 11:59

@mizu - I'm 5'4

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/10/2020 12:03

Yorkshirelass, don't tempt me. I have already bought the alpaca oversize cardigan in the slate and in the butternut. I am busty so tend to steer away from fair isles but it is the most beautiful colours.

I have been eyeing up those cords from Cos. I have the Gabi cords in a 10 and a 12 but can't decide which one to keep. I am mid weight loss and the 12s are good for now but if I lose the last stone and keep it off I would defintely need the 10s.

ilovecherries · 11/10/2020 12:21

I’m having a similar debate about Gabi cords, Toast. Thr 12 fit well right now but they will very quickly become too big when I lose my lockdown 12. The 10 are pulling a bit at the pockets.
