Very much want this scarf but don't think I can justify £145 for it. Might have to risk waiting for sale.

Toast the fourth!
Saurus72 · 27/09/2020 11:21

Such a lovely scarf @mizu . I'm struggling atm to work what I really need in my wardrobe. Before Covid (BC) I had it all sorted. Midi dresses from Toast and Whistles with either knee or ankle boots, wool coat, big scarf, cross-body bag - done. That got me through everything I used to do - local pub/restaurants/wine tasting/London museums/galleries/fancier restaurants.
But now we're pretty much only doing walks in the country/seaside/maybe cities, but no restaurants/galleries etc. So now my wishlist includes some Grenson walking boots, the Toast big cashmere scarf, a waterproof jacket, a cashmere wooly hat as well as the Toast trailing leaves dress and the green corduroy skirt. Which if I bought it all would around £1000.

Hmm. May start eBaying again...

AuldFox · 27/09/2020 12:11

Great autumnal colours on the scarf mizu

Laska2Meryls · 27/09/2020 13:05

The Trailing leaves dress is gorgeous Saurus.
Grensons lovely But so expensive..id suggest getting some similar for now but put them on your Christmas list...

BerniceBobsHerHair · 27/09/2020 15:40

Grensons tend to have very good sales - although if you want the Nanette boots they don't seem to go on sale or sell out quickly if they do.
I got a 15% off code
I bought some wide leg balloon type trousers (sorry can't remember what they're actually called Blush) and the check asymmetric blouse.
I do feel reluctant to buy out of sale time as it's so much more expensive. Does anyone find they can predict what will sell out and what will languish in the sale?
Love the gingham skirt laska and interested to hear about everyone's sale buys. I missed everything this time. Would have liked the check shirt but not much else. Maybe the kala dress - those who have it how have you worn it?
I find viscose does shrink a bit (especially in hush dresses!) But supposedly ironing when damp helps. Speaking of which has anyone's ume dress shrunk?

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 27/09/2020 15:53

Grensons tend to have very good sales

They do indeed! I wandered into their sale at just the right moment and snapped up some cosy autumn boots for (relatively) pennies.

AmethystMoonShine · 27/09/2020 16:15

@BerniceBobsHerHair I’ve got the Kala dress, I’ve worn it unbuttoned (not fully!) with a white cotton slip under so far. However I really like it as an over dress over my denim v neck dress. Unfortunately though it currently with a Toast as the ends of the belt frayed after one wash and wear Hmm, so waiting to see if they replace/mend/refund.....

Countmeout · 27/09/2020 16:24

@BerniceBobsHerHairi was saving my Ume for autumn (suppose I’m there now) so I really hope it doesn’t shrink particularly as it’s at the limits for length and fit for me . Has yours? I just checked the label and it says a cold wash.

Spottyegg · 27/09/2020 22:22

I have sent back all my non-sale buys now (sad) and will probably wait for the next sale as even at 15% off it is hard to justify. @Saurus72 I'd probably buy my cashmere scarf from Brora in the winter sale (or COS if they had the right colour) rather than buy from Toast, and knit my hat!

What I am really after is a pair of nice lace up brogues, loafers or boots to go with all my dresses - accidentally looked at the APC site, now those are nice boots!

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 08:56

I see that House of Fraser have Nannette boots on offer.. unfortunately though I cant bring myself to buy from them now since they were taken over .. ( my choice but there you go.. )

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 08:58

I bought a kin striped shirt on offer at JL last night ( after wine) and then remembered that I already had one very similar that I got on ebay ( duh!! Never shop squiffy!!🤣)

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 09:04

Spotty have you looked at Daniel for boots?

Saurus72 · 28/09/2020 09:24

Thanks all! I was just being a brat. I don’t need all those things really (or at least, not rev expensive versions...). I’ve been making a reall effort to not shop as much over the past few years but every now and then I get a ‘I want this and I want this etc etc’ which probably explains why I could eBay so much this Summer and barely notice it’s gone from my wardrobe 🙄.

The urge is strong though - change of season always does that, especially Autumn, officially The Best Season.

AmethystMoonShine · 28/09/2020 11:00

Arghhh! My herringbone blouse arrived this morning and whilst it looks beautiful and fits perfectly..... just as I was hanging it up I noticed that there is a cut to the back of the collar, it looks like it’s been snipped with scissors!
Back it goes 🙄

FiddleFigs · 28/09/2020 11:27

My Graphic Yoke sweater arrived today and I absolutely love it! I was worried it might be too short (I'm 5'10") but the M hits just right at my high hip. I'm only buying one sweater this A/W - very happy that it's this one!

Had to return the Chalkboard dress though - too close around the neck for my liking. Really like the two indigo denim shirt dresses - might stalk them for a while. I also like the needlecord shirtdress - just wish they came in a non-brown shade.

AFingerofFudge · 28/09/2020 13:08

@AmethystMoonShine that is a real pain, especially having to return a faulty item when it's not your fault. Maybe they'll give you a little 15% off code as compensation Wink

AFingerofFudge · 28/09/2020 13:09

Talking of which- does anyone have a code I can use please? I really want the fair isle yoke sweater but can't bring myself to pay full price!!

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 13:50

.. finger I can email you my 20% off if if you want to set up a new account?

AFingerofFudge · 28/09/2020 14:02

Thank you @Laska2Meryls that would be very much appreciated

ilovecherries · 28/09/2020 14:15

Setting up a new account isn't working for me. My dad has tried to set one up, but as soon as he entered my address as the delivery address, the code stopped working.

faustina · 28/09/2020 14:38

Couldn't he have it delivered to himself and then post them to you ?

ilovecherries · 28/09/2020 15:11

@faustina

Couldn't he have it delivered to himself and then post them to you ?
No, that's not an option for him, sadly.
DameCelia · 28/09/2020 16:21

I've just phoned Toast about a return, and discovered that they still have sale stock available to buy at sale prices, over the phone, it just isn't online.

I was able to get the tapered trousers in a 12 to replace the ones I bought in a 14 because the website showed the 12 as sold out (not sure what I was thinking tbh), and I bought the denim shirt dress in a 14 (need the space up top).

So if you missed out on anything in the sale it is worth giving customer services a call.

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 17:29

fingeroffudge I have pmd you , you'll need to email me on the address I have sent you , then I can send you the link

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 17:32

Cherries , I got my dad to do it for me , but he had it delivered to him ( then he posted it on to me!) still worked out cheaper ( Ummm) GrinWink
