Hi @CakeInMyFace have messaged you a link which should work if you are a new customer. In terms of sizing I find Toast neat in the shoulders and broad in the waist which works for me as I am fairly straight up and down. I’m normally a 10 in Jigsaw and Whistles and a size 38 in others, M in Zara- and I’m a 10 in most trousers now (29inch waist) but I’m a 32c and some of the more drapey stuff I’m an 8. If I were you I’d try an 8 and a 10.

Craftycorvid · 26/09/2020 09:28

Hi @CakeinMyFace. I’m anywhere between an 8 and a 10 in Toast depending on the style. I’m shortish - 5’3” and find some things a bit long. I go for dresses and skirts that land just below the knee on the model, that way I know they’re going to be mid calf for me. Also bracelet length jacket sleeves are fab’ for avoiding that ‘my mum thinks I’ll grow into this’ look.

@Moominmammaatsea Inspired by your scarf tip, I found this:

Hi thanks for the advice @Spottyegg and @Craftycorvid, I'll have a look for the link you sent too. Good to know about the shoulders, although that may be a problem for me as I go to the gym alot so wider at the shoulders than at the waist! I think I may give the dress a go as really love it!

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2020 17:41

@CakeInMyFace I bought that dress last week, and it is beautiful. But I struggled with sizing, and couldn’t get a size to fit. I am a standard size 10-12, short (5’1”), and a bigger bust than you. I am not particularly wide at the shoulders, but found the size Small quite narrow there and tight across the upper arms when I moved. I then exchanged for a Medium, and although this was perfect at the shoulders/upper arms, the bust was too wide and looked weird because the bust darts fell at the wrong place.
I can usually wear a Toast size Small or 10, but have found that this season their sizes are coming up a little smaller than usual. So, I would go with what @Spottyegg said, and order a couple of sizes to try.
I hope it fits you, it is so beautiful!

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2020 17:46

In other news, my local store (Edinburgh) has opened their fitting rooms again. Whoop! I thought I would treat myself to a little try on of a couple of things today, but they had neither in my size ☹️ Probably good for my bank balance though.
I wanted the try the Edith dress in orange. Anyone have this or seen it in the flesh? What is the orange like? No idea if orange is my colour, I am v pale with pink undertones, greying (originally dark brown) hair. It might be awful.
I also wanted to try the new Ruffle Hem skirt as my likely size is already sold out online...how is this possible when it only came online on a Thursday? Makes me think it must be fabulous. I cannot wear Toast skirts usually because they hardly ever have an elasticated waist, and I have no waist to speak of so cannot close the fitted waists. So I was super excited to see this. But...fabric content and dry clean only label is a bit off putting, I do not do dry cleaning. Anyone seen or tried it on, is it amazing?

Craftycorvid · 26/09/2020 18:10

Scottishmouse. I tend to regard the phrase ‘dry clean only’ as a challenge. In my experience very few things really won’t survive a careful hand wash in a gentle detergent and a short spin. That said, some materials behave a bit weirdly and shrink up when wet and might need ironing into shape, or they have fixed pleats etc. If you’re talking plain old wool or linen, it should be fine. (Can understand not wanting to risk it at Toast prices, mind you).

Craftycorvid · 26/09/2020 18:16

Just checked fabric content on that skirt, and it is a viscose/cupro blend, the latter being a sort of synthetic silk that has a nice sueded feel. I’d say wash on delicate cycle and cool iron it whilst damp - the ruffles look like a fiddly old ironing job though!

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2020 18:16

@Craftycorvid yes, I know what you mean, and I definitely do wash some things that say dry clean. But this is a cupro/viscose mix, and having done some googling, it sounds like viscose really does not do well in water. And yes, if it was a £20 skirt, I would risk it, but not at Toast prices! It might be a wait for the sale item, if there are any left by then.

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2020 18:18

Think we cross posted there @Craftycorvid. Yes, I think the skirt seems like too much hard work sadly.

poppyleaves · 26/09/2020 18:24

I really like the trailing leaf pintuck dress, has anyone ordered this? There are no reviews, which always help with fit, as unfortunately I'm not tall.

Also I wondered if anyone has a discount code they could share?

Spottyegg · 26/09/2020 19:08

@ScottishMouse. I have the green tie neck dress in a similar mix - so far hand washed successfully!

AuldFox · 26/09/2020 19:19

I have hand washed several viscose Toast dresses in cold water and hung them outside to dry with no problems. In the summer though! They would definitely shrink in the tumble dryer.

Basically used a wool no rinse detergent and soaked in properly cold water, no wringing out, drip dried in the sun. Ironed good as new (full disclosure: I didn’t do the ironing bit, housekeeper did that)

Saurus72 · 26/09/2020 19:39

I have about 5 Toast viscose dresses bought within the past 12 months (including the green tie neck one from last AW). All washed on a 40 degree delicate cycle, all fine. Just don’t believe in dry cleaning 😊. Plus, your stuff is with other people’s dirty clothes 🤢

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2020 20:19

Ooh, well this is all very encouraging about the washing viscose. I needed a reason to not buy the skirt, but now I am considering it again.

ilovecherries · 26/09/2020 20:54

My side button denim dress arrived today. Is beautifully made but I’m dithering as it’s very A line and reminds me very much of a simple pinafore I used to make my DD when she was little, cord in winter and cotton twill in summer. That was over 20 years ago...

neveradullmoment99 · 26/09/2020 22:46

Im not keen on Toast viscose tbh. I am sure that my dress shrunk [It was a tie neck one from the summer season] I have to say, it has put me off from ordering anything that is really expensive in viscose.

I wont dry clean at all either.

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2020 07:00

Oh no, @neveradullmoment99, that is so disappointing. I have just this weekend had a Toast item shrink in the wash, and that one shouldn’t have as it is cotton. It’s so annoying when it happens. Is your dress still wearable?

goldpendant · 27/09/2020 07:43

@Laska2Meryls the gingham skirt is fab. I might have to order!

Laska2Meryls · 27/09/2020 08:34

I don't dry clean either.. I wash many viscose things in 30deg and usually damo iron and have not found problems..
I have reordered the graphic jumper as the M is too big .. but sadly have to wait for back order for S which puts my M one over the return date ( Toast have gone back to 28days for orders now) .. Also ordered the Taro shirt .. I must stop spending though !! yeah like that is going to happen

Laska2Meryls · 27/09/2020 08:36

goldpendant I am afraid it was just ( expensive buthad to) love at first sight with me ... Consequence of going to an actual Toast shop!! ( Dangerous)

Laska2Meryls · 27/09/2020 08:39

Didnt finish my post above.. re return dates .. Anyway I have emailed Toast to check that it would be ok to go over the 28 days.. I do want to try the S jumper before I decide . Hopefully they will be ok as it is their backorder timescale that means that I will be over the return date..

Countmeout · 27/09/2020 09:54

My S was on backorder when I ordered it @Laska2Meryls and it arrived suddenly earlier than they said. I don’t think it was a return by the feel of it iykwim.
I don’t like to have to dry clean either. I’m generally wary of viscose but I’ve a 20degree 15 mins on my machine and as a lot of things just need a freshen up have so far used that successfully.

mizu · 27/09/2020 10:23

I've got a dress from last season 65% culpro 35% viscose says dry clean but I've put in a very quick 15 min wash and it's been ok. Low heat iron too.
