@ilovecherries

DS 2 had something delivered to my address as a present using a referral and that worked for us

StyleandBeautyfail · 28/09/2020 18:48

My Elin skirt arrived.
Lovely fabric and exactly the same style as the gingham skirt but perhaps more of an everyday fabric.
This is the perfect skirt shape for me si I hope they do more.
I did check it over having seen the comments above about a damaged shirt.
This basic stuff, honestly but when its pricey as well ..
Had a look at the new shirts in JL , very nice but not £145-165 nice .
I dont get the pricing at all.
The Jude wool trousers are £175 so £10 less for a cotton shirt Confused
Im in the not a huge fan of viscose camp.
Its neither here nor there as a fabric for me.
Im layering up like nobodys business at the moment so too cold for Autumn/ Winter and I prefer cotton or linen for the summer.
Took up some Linen culottes that I had made via Etsy as they were too long.
Bizarre they are EXACTLY the same shape, cut, rise and waist as the Toast ones.
Literally an identical garment

ilovecherries · 28/09/2020 18:49

Oh well, doesn’t work for us. Wonder if I’ve ever used dad’s computer in the past to look at my toast account, and it’s set a cookie, which dad will not be able to deal with removing. Nor is him going to the PO an option. Never mind, it was a present but I’ve told him not to buy atm as there will be a code at some point and I don’t want him paying full price.

Craftycorvid · 28/09/2020 18:58

Does anyone own the gingham dress that fastens with small knots at the bodice? I dithered on eBay over a bargainous one in an 8 wondering if it might be a bit snug, and then it got snapped up. I’m now looking at a (less bargainous) 10 and thinking it actually might be a bit big. I’m small on top with narrow shoulders if that helps.

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 20:11

fingeroffudge I have emailed you hope that it works 🤞

Laska2Meryls · 28/09/2020 20:15

styleandbeauty is that the striped skirt? It looks good, I was tempted in the sale ( but didn't in the end)

ToastCosILoveIt · 28/09/2020 21:02

I finally opened my Toast sale parcel that arrived this morning (temptation was great during the day but I was working).

Firstly, the red embroidered kimono jacket is beautiful. It was a bit of a splurge as still £145 in the sale but it will look great with slim ankle skimming black trousers and ballet pumps.

The Nora large check poplin dress is good: liking the neckline and I think is a keeper.

i rebought the Anni print polin dress as i have a size 14 which is too big. Now to decide whether to keep both for the slight weight fluctuations?!

The slate cotton linen jacket I am undecided on. I can't work out if it looks a bit scruffy or not. I think I need to see it in daylight. I bought the 12 but is is verging on being a bit big. Does anyone have it has has grown to love it? x

AFingerofFudge · 28/09/2020 21:09

@Laska2Meryls thank you- the code worked and hopefully I'll get my hands on the fair isle jumper soon!

Spottyegg · 29/09/2020 10:00

@ToastCosILoveIt I have the slate linen jacket - but I bought it from JL. I wore it lots because it was a good weight for the end of summer and could literally throw over everything, but agree it has a scruffy vibe - fine for me because Covid working has disrupted all our dress codes!

StyleandBeautyfail · 29/09/2020 11:29

@Laska2Meryls
Yes its the same shape exactly but in a nice heavy cotton linen.
Possibly a tiny bit smaller in a 12 than the gingham skirt but likely to be the fabric as the wool has a bit more stretch.
I have purchased a fair bit due to a big lifestyle change but time to wear what ive got Grin
I did get trousers in the end from Seasalt.
The Waterdance trousers, in 4 colours Blush
Great price, they have a flat front and side buttons similar to the Toast denim dress.
Best of all they come in long.
Im a classic size 12 and they are perfect, not baggy but roomy enough.
I would like a pair of Toast wool trousers and am after black, broguey lace up boot but apart from that anything else that comes in to my wardrobe between now and the Christmas sales has to be made by me or a replacement for an old garment thats holey etc.
Will still lurk to see what others are buying.

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/09/2020 11:33

@Spottyegg, really appreciate the feedback. I wonder if I am thinking about it in the wrong way and should be styling it with jeans and a bretton at the weekend. Did a more casual approach work for you?

Spottyegg · 29/09/2020 15:12

@ToastCosILoveIt - Yes I definitely think of it as a casual jacket. It is also quite big? I think that's part of the look though, oversized, to be thrown over a jumper or a Breton long-sleeved tee and boyfriend jeans (trying to cut down on stripes in my wardrobe because they look bad on Zoom though).

Laska2Meryls · 29/09/2020 18:33

I dyed my Toast dusky pink bamboo nightie and vest !👍 Really pleased with the results.

Toast the fourth!
ToastCosILoveIt · 30/09/2020 09:53

Thank you Spottyegg, I think I will return it. I tried it on again this morning and I think it is too big. There are probably better black jackets out there for me.

On a brighter note, the sale denim shirt dress finally arrives this am. i had previously (last season) ordered it at full price in a 14 and while it fitted on the chest, it was huge in the skirt. I have lost a bit of weight and ordered the 12: hoping for better luck.

AmethystMoonShine · 30/09/2020 12:48

Angry I’m not happy!
I returned my Kala dress last week (at Toast’s request) because the belt ends had frayed.
They wanted their experts to “examine the perceived fault”.... I have had no further communication from them. Today I get a refund notification! I’d expect a conversation to explore options first, for example, repair the belt.
I’ve just emailed them to say I’m not impressed that I’ve now lost a dress I loved when they could have remedied the situation in other ways and without consulting me first!
In true Mumsnet style... AIBU?

Laska2Meryls · 30/09/2020 13:04

No you re not .. id call them if i were you.. I had an issue with returning dates , and back order waiting times .( I have a M jumper which I am not sure is too big but because of back order have to wait for the S possible replacement until after the 28 day return date of my M ) but when i rang them they were more than helpful..

AmethystMoonShine · 30/09/2020 13:56

They’ve said because the belt was faulty they have to return the whole garment to the manufacturer. They have no replacement to send me.... basically, sorry but that’s how it is!
Now waiting to see how they deal with the cut shirt collar....

Countmeout · 30/09/2020 16:17

Well that would put anyone off returning anything faulty @AmethystMoonShine if that was going to happen unless it was something that couldn’t be lived with.

faustina · 30/09/2020 16:21

@AmethystMoonShine - that is really shitty, especially if they can't offer you a replacement! Not what you'd expect from Toast's ethos either!

@Laska2Meryls - that's such a vibrant colour! And from memory an exact match for your hair, right?

AmethystMoonShine · 30/09/2020 16:24

Yes definitely @Countmeout, a warning to all!
I’d have repaired the belt myself and kept the dress if I’d known that’s how they would respond. I only raised it with them because a dress that cost £150 full price should not have a fraying belt after one wear& wash.

I dearly hope Toast isn’t going the way Hush has, they had really good quality initially but it gradually got more expensive and thinner, cheaper fabric. Toast have already upped their prices.....

Arghhh, I thought I’d found a quality brand with excellent customer service Hmm

Please excuse the rant.... I loved that dress.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/09/2020 17:07

Well I have to say I'mpissed off with Toast. Ordered some trousers but they were taking so.long I wrote to cancel. Well seemingly it was being processed at the warehouse and said it would be 24hr delivery. So it was due today. Nothing. Thats nearly a fecking week. Tracking the item, it hasn't even been received! The delivery is awful right now.

I took a monumental huff at Toast 18 months ago because of how badly they handled the return of a faulty garment. I went as far as saying I would never order direct again, and if JL didn't sell it, I wasn't buying it. Clearly I didn't keep that threat up for more than about 4 months Hmm, but I was mightily pissed off at the time. I don't think they actually cope very well with problems, although their customer service is generally good, and they do do quick refunds.

Saurus72 · 30/09/2020 17:46

I left a review on their website about the shrinking linen t-shirt last week. They emailed to follow up and asked where I bought it. When I said John Lewis they said take it up with them. I get that, in that legally that’s the position. However from my account (linked to my email) they would have seen that I’ve been shopping with them for over 10 years. Really not good at all.

Countmeout · 30/09/2020 17:47

@neveradullmoment99 I also ordered trousers and dispatch has been slow but I think we need to remember Wales seems to have a particularly bad outbreak of Covid at the moment so I thought this may be affecting things.
