What do you rate from Body Shop? Have a 50 GBP gift voucher which I'm keen to use before I forget.

Camomile cleansing balm, spf 50 and this

Body Shop must haves?
Goslowlysideways · 26/08/2020 06:42

Sadly since they decided they don’t like ‘women’ I’ve stopped using them.
But Super drug vitamin e range is superb.

Malin52 · 26/08/2020 07:16

They don't seem to believe that women exist so they are boycotted anyway but if that wasn't enough they run an exploitative MLM too.

Maybe give the voucher to a women's refuge?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/08/2020 07:48

I've stopped buying from them as I decided last year not to buy from companies that run MLM models. Its a shame as their products are nice. If I was given a voucher I would still use it because they make more money having someone buy a voucher and then not use it. I love the autumn scents so would be getting shower gel in one of those plus something from the peppermint footcare range. I'd spend it in one of the shops as these are run as franchises so these owners who are pitted against buying direct, outlet stores, and the mlm sales reps prob have the most to loose.

I love the body butter - coconut is my fave, plus from the spas of the world range the hawaiian kukui cream is lush.

Eeyorehoney · 26/08/2020 08:12

The mango or the coconut hand sanitizers
Shea hand cream is nice too

justanotherneighinparadise · 26/08/2020 08:16

I used to like some of their make up.

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 26/08/2020 08:19

Stopped using them after they insisted that women don't exist.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 26/08/2020 08:24

See if you can trade the voucher in somewhere for cash and then donate the money to the Lumos foundation?

CodenameVillanelle · 26/08/2020 08:27

I'm sure she wants to use her voucher so let's not pressure her into giving it away. I despise the body shop as much as the next woman but they have nice products. Personally I love the body butter. I won't be buying more myself but if I were you I'd buy 3 of them and that will last a year or so

Beamur · 26/08/2020 08:33

For the reasons already given I wouldn't shop there now.
But, as you have a voucher, I would get (if they still stock it) some of their hemp hand cream, it's very good.

PeaceAndHarmoneeee · 26/08/2020 08:35

The ginger shampoo and conditioner smells lovely and is the only think that stops my scalp being itchy.

Artesia · 26/08/2020 08:37

Body Shop must-haves? A penis, sadly.

KaptainKaveman · 26/08/2020 08:37

Their fruit soaps are great, the only ones I ever use. Their vitamin C serum is brilliant too.

What do people mean when claiming Bodyshop "insisted women don't exist"? Confused

what??? Talk about derailing a thread...
Bmidreams · 26/08/2020 08:39

It's true.

FaffingForEngland · 26/08/2020 08:41

I'd sell the voucher and buy from elsewhere. That said, I suppose they've already got the money so it makes no difference now if you do choose something from them. The Body Shop is a mess these days. So far removed from its original ethical beginnings, more discount codes than Groupon, and most importantly, its treatment of JKR.

SerenityNowwwww · 26/08/2020 08:41

I won’t shop there either (and I have been a customer since the mid 80s). But I understand that you have a gift voucher.

Maybe buy some perfume or soap?

cactuscushion · 26/08/2020 08:42

There's a £50 advent calendar you could get!

The Body Shop are very much in the 'trans women are women' camp.

This was their response to JK Rowling when she objected to the term “people who menstruate”:

“People have periods. Some women, some men and some non-binary people – and plenty of women don’t – and here at The Body Shop we stand with all menstruators. We believe it’s important to have these conversations and keep it moving forwards – so that together we can end the shame and stigma around periods for all menstruators.”

Try searching for women on their site then try men for example Their social media team sent a sarcastic tweet to JKR in response to when she disclosed domestic abuse and called her transphobic. They have lost the plot #gowokegobroke
SerenityNowwwww · 26/08/2020 08:51

I was also told some biological untruths by their customer services, so I’ve binned my card and won’t be back. The whole family used to use their stuff (the menfolk too).

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 26/08/2020 08:52

I would definitely buy the advent calendar. But then I love an advent calendar.

Artesia · 26/08/2020 08:53

An easy read summarising what happened. They, along with Lush, will never have another penny from me.
