I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

SnuggyBuggy · 25/08/2020 13:45

I don't care what anyone says, boot cut suited me

Bella2020 · 25/08/2020 13:59

Leggings. The number of girls & women who maybe don't realise just how much of their knickers and/or backside is on show. At least buy good quality ones that don't stretch to nothing around the bum!

TabbyisNBU · 25/08/2020 14:05

Unless you have very small, tanned, beautiful manicured feet, you're rocking the Frodo Feet look.

Thing is, with the trend for trainers EVERYONE over size 4 looks like they've got huge feet.

Metothee · 25/08/2020 14:15

Trainers with dresses/skirts. I just don't think it looks good. At all! I always think "Oh that's a lovely dress, such a shame she's ruined the look of it with trainers". Try as I may I just can't get used to this look.

Metothee · 25/08/2020 14:17

Oh yes - leggings with nothing covering your arse Confused I was only in my twenties when this became a "thing" and was like WTF are people thinking?! Absolutely no different to going out with just tights on IMO. Shudder.

SummerSummerSummertime · 25/08/2020 14:53

Idiots voting Tory.

shinynewapple2020 · 25/08/2020 15:15

I really don't like patterned midi dresses, particularly if they are either shirt style or have ruffles all over them .

The shirt style ones remind me of clothes that my granny wore and frills are best kept to infant school age .

I wish you could buy straight leg jeans with as much stretch as the skinny ones . They are so comfortable to wear around your waist / hips but I find them right on my knees .

I also don't like that at the moment most simple styled tops and dresses seem to have round necks rather than scoop or v neck .

BigYellowFlower · 25/08/2020 15:38

The thing about trends is that it will and does suit someone out there (or many people out there). I love the fact that there's so much variety and choice these days. I've been in clubs where the women are wearing trainers and floral midi dresses next to women in heels and a body con and neither look is "out". Anything goes.

Having said that, I think "Mom jeans" are truly awful. I am not a fan of skinnies, but I'd take skinnies over Mom jeans any day.

Love frills, midi, ruffles though and I didn't mind the cold shoulder in its heyday 3 years ago but it's well and truly passed now, so it's not a trend any more.

Sasuma · 25/08/2020 15:42

I feel like a lot of the stuff mentioned here I don’t really see around much at all anymore. However I am in (an affluent part of) central London and feel like when you go to smaller towns and cities it does often feel like going back in time a bit, fashion wise (sorry!!)

So things like lots of contouring, thick eyebrows, false eyelashes during the day, leggings (unless actual exercise leggings - athleisure is popular here) skinny jeans, the cut out shoulder tops, etc I don’t know anyone who wears this and don’t see around generally much.

I do see a lot of dresses and trainers though, mostly on a certain type of person - inoffensive dress sense, not really interested in fashion but not not interested - it’s become a bit of an ubiquitous look amongst mums in the playground/on coffee dates particularly. It just feels a bit overdone now!

timeandaplace · 25/08/2020 16:10

@MoreListeningLessChatting
I’m 29 and have slug eyebrows. My eyebrows are huge. Inherited from my dad. They are brown though not black and I think suit my face as it’s pretty square and I have big eyes. Can’t change it and I’m pleased they came into fashion so I can have my moment Smile

Delatron · 25/08/2020 16:15

I think the fashion world have been trying to claim that skinny jeans have been out of fashion for years. Yet no they remain popular.
Mainly because we all remember the horror years of the boot cut and the wet, soggy, tatty edges.

I’m slim though and they suit me far more that a boyfriend jean that hangs off me and makes me look shapeless. I think you need to dress for you shape but skinnies do suit lots if people. Love a cropped skinny for summer. Not too tight!

Also like trainers (well a pump say Veja) With a dress. Heels and dresses look too ‘dressy’ for the day but a pair of pumps and a dress/skirt works and looks fashionable.

Hate crop tops, slug eyebrows, lip fillers...

GlottalStrop · 25/08/2020 16:29

Jemenfous love your name and je comprends completement.

LaMarschallin · 25/08/2020 16:37

The "hairstyle" (which often goes with having extensions) of dragging all your hair around to fall over one shoulder like the little mermaid.

Particularly when combined with fiddling with it and continually raking finger(nail)s through it.
Never having had extensions (I'd be happy to give them a go as I've got fine hair, but I'm too lazy and impoverished) I wonder if it's because they feel a bit unnatural so it's hard to leave them alone.

Konnie Huq on Great British Menus was a prime example of the style and the raking (not sure about extensions); at least it was only her own food she was raking her hair into though.

Summersnearlyover · 25/08/2020 16:43

I love high waisted skinny jeans and crop tops that finish at the waistline, both are flattering on me.
I don’t like cold shoulder tops, I don’t know why, they always look cheap no matter how expensive they are.
I hate
Fat feet bulging out of ballet pumps
Massive eyebrows
Acrylic nails
Mom jeans
Vest tops with bra straps showing
Midi dresses or skirts
Cheap leggings

PattyPan · 25/08/2020 17:01

Trousers that leave your ankles bare - they just look like you have the wrong size
Sliders
Jeans without pockets - WHY
Rose gold
Tops that are square shaped - not flattering on anyone
Fake nails - look dreadful and long nails are so unhygienic
Sleeve tattoos
Shorts where the pockets are longer than the shorts and you can see them Confused
Any animal print
Khaki
Bum bags especially when worn by men over the shoulder, drug dealer chic Hmm
Everything for women being made of crappy fabrics like polyester or viscose while cheap T-shirts for men are 100% cotton Angry
White jeans

I like skinny jeans though!

TabbyisNBU · 25/08/2020 17:07

@Sasuma - what do you wear?

Ginorwine30 · 25/08/2020 17:23

The worst thing for me is all the tops and dresses with huge, puffy frill sleeves. It seems like they are everywhere now and they look awful Confused
Tracksuits just for walking round the shop in (fitness ones are fine!)
Drag queen style makeup on young women
Lip fillers - people always say they only have a bit to look “natural” but they always look fake imo
Those hideous Fila trainers
Puffa coats in the middle of summer, teens seem to wear them even in boiling hot sunshine

Destinysdaughter · 25/08/2020 17:26

Shapeless dresses
Three quarter length trousers, especially wide ones
Huge fake eyelashes

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 25/08/2020 17:43

I sort of agree with skinny jeans - except they're so practical. They go with every type of footwear. And in this soggy country, jeans that don't trail in puddles are a bonus.

Violinist64 · 25/08/2020 17:47

I don't understand the comments about skinny jeans. I, personally, would look dreadful in them but my size 6, petite daughter looks amazing in them. Very few people look good in leggings or shorts though.

Spinningdot · 25/08/2020 17:50

Er, not s&b related but food-related. (I'm way more interested in food than fashion)
Raspberry and white chocolate. Scones, cheesecake etc. It seems like it's only just starting to drag its disgusting cloying carcass out the back door of cafes.
I hope feel salted caramel everything will go the same way

Spinningdot · 25/08/2020 17:52

& cold shoulder tops were awful. Just awful.
I'm amused that culottes made a minor comeback though, they were big when I was a kid circa late 80s / early 90s

AuntMasha · 25/08/2020 18:12

I quite like a puffed sleeve, I’m a bit of a romantic.

I like skinnies, they’re practical, but also like bootcut and flares and wide legs. Don’t like those paper bag waist trousers much but they look good on slim hipped people. Mom jeans - they were awful in the 80s and they’re awful now. Just say no.

AuntMasha · 25/08/2020 18:14

I won’t buy anything made of polyester.

FatBottomedGurl · 25/08/2020 18:17

I like cold shoulder tops! I'm self conscious about my bingo wings so I enjoy getting to show off a little bit of skin without my wobbly bits being out Smile
