I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

Caterpillar/ sperm brows. The only thing worse is when people draw them in as an upside down check mark!

GhostCurry · 29/08/2020 12:21

Sperm brows aren’t a thing anymore, are they? It’s more a 50’s/80’s “thick all the way along” shape, tapered at the end

Jemenfouscompletement · 29/08/2020 14:39

@Winglessvulture received my Only skinny, low waist jeans today, they are great, not too expensive, thankyou for the tip even if they are inappropriate for someone over 50

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/08/2020 14:44

Those awful dresses that look like a repurposed duvet cover - H&M I'm looking at you - they look good on NO-ONE.

unmarkedbythat · 29/08/2020 16:52

I love wide leg trousers but as a pp said, they have to be the perfect length to work.

Really want some boot cut jeans now, this thread has reminded me how much the shape worked for me. They'd need to be high waisted though.

Winglessvulture · 29/08/2020 17:51

@Jemenfouscompletement I am really pleased you like them. I am wearing mine today and keep thinking I should order more as they are my current favourites. I am sure they look great Smile

DagenhamRoundhouse · 29/08/2020 18:00

Those awful caterpillar eyebrows together with the long ironed hair. Young women all look cloned these days.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/08/2020 18:23

I'm wearing wide leg jeans today and I think they look great - I have narrow hips and hardly any bum, so they make me look more in proportion.

But they're a bugger in the wet though. I maintain my stance that skinnies are the practical choice in typical British weather.

NameChange84 · 29/08/2020 18:27

Stupid ugly buttons on everything. Especially brown big ones on delicate tops and skirts. Ugly AF.

Cropped tops.

Lounge or gym wear as street wear. The Shellsuits or velour tracksuits of the 10’s and 20’s.

AuntMasha · 29/08/2020 18:28

It’s great that there are so many different styles of jeans/trousers these days. People have more options definitely. I generally like what other women are wearing and don’t get why people think over critically about how others choose to express themselves.

NameChange84 · 29/08/2020 18:29

Ughhhhh and dungarees

1forAll74 · 29/08/2020 19:44

Those pumped up lips and those weird slug eyebrows look ridiculous, and make a person look ugly and freaky., no enhancement to beauty at all.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/08/2020 19:52

Ughhhhh and dungarees
Love a dungaree.
DancingCatGif · 29/08/2020 23:18

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal just one of them?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/08/2020 06:59

Oh yes, best not to get carried away. Grin

“Young women all look cloned these days.”

I really, really don’t think that is a modern phenomenon. If anything, young women look more individual than ever before. Think about the 1890s, the 1940s. There was literally only one look.

Not people, women. Men just wear what men just wear. Comfy clothes mostly.

Yesterdayforgotten · 30/08/2020 11:18

Give me slug eyebrows anyway over permanently surprised pencil thin 90s ones, don't know which is worse! Eyebrows on the thicker size as to still look youthful but done naturally are the best imo

Yesterdayforgotten · 30/08/2020 11:18

It's funny, I was thinking along those lines earlier.
Except I thought that up until the end of the 1960s/70s there was more of a proscribed look. For example, heavy dark eye makeup, very long eyelashes and very pale lips look instantly 1960s.
I'm not sure how I'd classify the looks of the '80s and 90s and they seemed more individual to me (maybe that's because it was more my era, so things looked "right").

Now there does seem to be a set look again, with the aforementioned artificial-looking brows and fake eyelashes, pouty lips and heavy contouring.
It seems to be more about "you've done your makeup really well" instead of "you look really nice".

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 30/08/2020 12:58

It's easy to laugh at teen trends but I found a photo of me in the 90s wearing a chunky white jumper, bell bottoms and Caterpillar boots, I thought I was the bees knees but actually looked like Captain Birdseye's mutant offspring. Blush

IfNotNow123 · 30/08/2020 20:09

Short trousers. Especially short wide trousers.
Thoae toast type dresses in taupe or whatever that make you look like you've joined a cult.
Frills
Polyester florals.
I love my dungarees though and am currently wearing some with a vest top. I'm not over 50, but believe me when I am I will be offending people left and right with my soft arms. (I'm a women, I have soft arms, shoot me)
Oh, and I have birds nest hair. It's my hair, it's just what it looks like.

SueblueNZ · 31/08/2020 00:32

Cold-shoulder tops of any description. Either have sleeves or have sleeveless, not inbetween.
Those awful ribbon or clear rubbery loops that are meant for keeping a top on the hanger in the shop, but meant for cutting off once the top is bought. Seeing them hanging out of necklines or shoulders does my head in.
Bra straps showing in cutaway shoulder tops that are not designed to be worn with bras with normal straps.
Deliberately frayed jean legs ... or deliberately slashed holes in jeans for that matter.
Opaque/heavy tights with short summery dresses, or heavy winter scarfs with summer clothing - decide whether it's summer or winter and dress accordingly.
Mince and cheese hair - not root-rot; I'm talking about blonde on top and dark under, or vice versa.

squeekums · 31/08/2020 00:37

skinny jeans
Pre ripped or knee-less jeans
High waisted anything
Crop tops
fish lips aka lip fillers
