One size is never going to fit all because everyone is so different. That’s the difference between following fashion and trends, and having real unique style.
It’s taken me 40 years to realise that I have a long body and short legs, and am a bit of a pear as well, so I need to dress for my proportions, not for what’s in fashion. High waists, straight or cigarette cut and 7/8 leg lengths really suit me. Low-waisted skinny jeans definitely don’t.
Jumpers that finish just above my hips look great. If they sit on, or lower than my hips, I look like a dumpy potato. Unless I French tuck (I am never not going to do that - Frenchs tuck til I die). Always v necks or boat necks, can’t do crew neck anything. Etc...
So, it’s all relative. Except for a tiny number of things that definitely don’t look good on anyone. I agree with cold shoulder tops - they always look trashy and cheap, no matter who is wearing them or how they’re styled. The other trend that does nothing for anyone is those massive floral maxi dresses. They look like 70s nighties. If you’re 6ft tall, slender, and in an editorial feature for Vogue, maybe you can just about pull it off. Anyone else: no.
I don’t really understand the overdone lip filler thing either. But when you’re talking about people’s actual faces, it starts to feel a bit unkind. Once you start messing around with your own features, there’s some psychological stuff going on there that needs unpacking rather than mocking.
