I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

Agree with many already mentioned but for me nothing is worse than those awful shoes with perspex straps. Think it's supposed to be like a "barely there" look but even on the slimmest foot they look like they're digging into the flesh. Just really unpleasant and uncomfortable looking!

DinosApple · 25/08/2020 18:28

Slug eyebrows can stay as long as they like!
Mine are naturally thick and black and it makes a nice change from when I was a teen in the 90s and it was all thin, whispy brows!

RightYesButNo · 25/08/2020 18:30

Skinny jeans and mom jeans. The thing is they both accentuate the widest part of your legs and make even natural curves, whether you’re overweight or not, look “bad,” which I think is a shit lookout. So with skinny jeans, if you have any curves or any thighs at all, it will accentuate the fuck out of that and make you look much bigger. If you’re tall and slim or just very slim, no curves, no thighs, sure, they work. If you have any thighs, then they’re going to make your thighs look bigger. Caveat: they can work with boots, but then the boot is really just “correcting” the pant shape, i.e. making it look wider at the bottom and not pushing all the attention onto the thighs. I do wonder if everyone’s going to laugh at these pictures in about 10 years, same way they laugh at pictures from the 80s/90s.

With mom jeans, I’m not sure who they flatter. They make the models (the models!) in the catalogues look about two or more sizes bigger than they are, which is why they went out of style in the first place.

I recently discovered the joy of the croc shoe, via my dh who has difficult feet. They are quite probably the most hideous-looking monstrosities I have ever spent money on - like having two enormous rubber colanders instead of feet, but so comfortable I don’t care.

maureen17 · 25/08/2020 18:33

cold shoulder tops keep you feeling cool without showing handbags

Imissmoominmama · 25/08/2020 18:37

In defence of dresses and skirts with trainers- I have really wonky feet that really hurt in most shoes and sandals. I love this trend because it means I can wear dresses and skirts now!

user1499191107 · 25/08/2020 18:37

I like cold shoulder tops because I like my shoulders but hate my upper arms!

formerbabe · 25/08/2020 18:44

I think curves look nice on women so do shapely legs...not everyone aspires to stick thin, boyish figures.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 25/08/2020 18:44

Bodycon dresses
Crop tops every bloody where
Mum jeans. They look like shit.
Tops being tucked into waist high jeans.

EraOfTheGrey · 25/08/2020 18:46

Eyebrows have always caused regret retrospectively. Looking back at my eyebrows of 15 years ago they were sparse, thin and penciled in. I now wear them with a light shaping, luckily they've grown back from the brutal over plucking I subjected them to.

I dislike anything that would have been worn on Love island. The stand out for me has to be men wearing tight shortened trousers with shoes and no socks.

All the clothing available in beige as the colour looks identical to the colour of NHS hearing aids. Plus from a distance it looks like the wearer is naked.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 25/08/2020 18:47

Midi length dresses and skirts
ankle grazer trousers
Wearing a band T when you dont know the band.
crop tops

CorvusPurpureus · 25/08/2020 18:47

Definitely beards. All kinds of beards. They look pompous on good looking young guys & unkempt on older men. Also, they stink if he's had a beer or eaten, well, anything.

Badly dyed hair. You know when it's some wafty multi coloured thing that looks fabulous freshly done, well cut, blow dried & with great make up, & then you have to take the bins out 3 weeks later with a tired hungover face, faded pink bits & a scratty scrunchie. God knows I've done my time with krazy hair, but I'm either maintaining it or waiting till I go properly grey & going The Full Mrs Slocombe now.

I'm keeping the skinny jeans, though. I'm a tall, big woman & my legs are one of my best features (so long as my top covers me before & aft to bum level).

ilovesushi · 25/08/2020 19:01

Vertical stripes especially on cropped wide leg trousers. Really thick painted on eyebrows. I LOVE skinny jeans though. Please let them go on and on for ever.

nasiisthebest · 25/08/2020 19:08

I see lots of men in those type of skinny jeans that are still a bit baggy/comfortably loose on the top part. To me it looks like they pooped their pants.

Too big and/or too dark eyebrows

Fake lashes

Grey grey grey. Peoples grey interiors resemble the local mortuary. Could be that the mortuary was an early adapter of the fashion but I just can't shake the association.

nasiisthebest · 25/08/2020 19:10

Too short dresses. The average UK woman doesn't have slim toned thighs. A too short dress accentuates the wideness of them.

MangoFeverDream · 25/08/2020 19:12

Hate ruffles, ruins a clean line on dresses. Also can’t stand the fashion of wearing white sneakers with frumpy dresses.

Also the cropped wide leg, just seems different for the sake of being different, doesn’t really seem to flatter anyone.

Skinny jeans are tiresome, but really do flatter some people (not me) so can understand why they haven’t really gone away.

I’m still insisting on rose gold and still like wearing scarves, so definitely have some sins of my own 😎

Starsabove1 · 25/08/2020 19:17

It never fails to amaze me how quickly people will use a topic like this to air their fat phobia and class snobbery under the guise of taste.

Heaven forfend someone over a size 8 not dress to be invisible or wear something that shows their actual body off Shock

And those awful working class people taking pride in their nails and hair. Sooooo déclassé.

I dislike many of the trends mentioned above but I would rather wear see through leggings with white knickers and eyebrows the size of ferrets than have a stick up my boden clad arse about what other people chose to wear or do with their own bodies.

And to the poster proudly sharing that she had to nudge her children to remind them not to comment rudely on someone’s make-up and eyebrows - that isn’t the marker of good taste you think it is.

foxyariel · 25/08/2020 19:51

Re: the skinny jeans vs mom jeans debate. Both can be hideous, depending on the cut, fabric and your body shape. Best jeans are a straight classic cut from a decent brand that hug your bottom but then skim a little. Fabric needs to be fairly thick but not stiff to avoid the baggy knee look.

Bwlch · 25/08/2020 19:57

I recently discovered the joy of the croc shoe, via my dh who has difficult feet.

I persuaded my reluctant husband to try a pair of crocs. The only colour they had in his size (12) was yellow. He looked like Donald Duck.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 25/08/2020 20:03

I love mom jeans. I just find it difficult to get a pair that fit my waist AND my arse. I had a great pair from TopShop but my arse is now much too large for them.

polkadotpjs · 25/08/2020 20:04

Oh yes men without socks. Most men I know have vile smelly feet
I'm at a loss as to what to wear instead of skinnies now. I look even fatter in straight leg, dumpy in mom jeans. I'm doomed

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 25/08/2020 20:09

@TheClitterati

Also the trend for young women to have loads of fillers, big fake lips, heavy makeup, massive nails and huge eyelashes. It's seems so popular.

I worry for their self esteem.

Just watching The Truth about Cosmetic Treatments-all these lovely young women thinking they need treatments. Embrace your slightly wonky nose!
missbunnyrabbit · 25/08/2020 20:14

I love crop tops, cold shoulder tops and bodycon dresses😍

What I hate is those cropped, really baggy jeans. They look hideous!

BowowMttt · 25/08/2020 20:16

I hate mom jeans, they always look hideous, even when my beautiful model-like friends wears them. What’s the alternative to skinnies? That’s all I can wear without looking strange!

vixxo · 25/08/2020 20:27

Big heavy eyebrows. They suit no one.
