I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

@EspressoX10

Camel or nude tones make most British people (particularly the fair haired ones) look really washed out. Unless you're the honey blonde, permatanned Californian type, it is really hard to pull off.

Our go-to colours are navy, grey, black and white.

eaglejulesk · 26/08/2020 08:32

I don't care what anyone says, boot cut suited me

Me also

Bwlch · 26/08/2020 08:37

British people are very weary of browns and beige, but they're staples in the continent and look very chic, particularly if you're dark haired and have olive skin tones

Olive skin tones are not exactly prevalent in the UK. Brown and beige doesn't really suit a pale blue complexion.

Bwlch · 26/08/2020 08:38

Don't really suit...

eaglejulesk · 26/08/2020 08:39

I love trainers (or boots) with dresses. Have been wearing dresses like this for years. HATE heels. They're not comfortable and they look dated often enough.

Agree. I've never worn high heels in my life - and I'm 61.

ballroompink · 26/08/2020 08:45

Sliders
Flesh coloured leggings. The number of times I've glanced at a woman wearing them and done a double take because I thought she was naked!
Leggings and cropped tops
Massive chunky trainers
Flouncy ruffled floral tops in horrible synthetic fabrics

GuyFawkesDay · 26/08/2020 08:57

Ruffles. My boobs need no help looking bigger.
Puffy sleeves. I can go with a small one....but some of them are madness.
Pleather pleated midi skirts. Sweaty, and unless you're a stick look awful. My petite size 8 friend looks amazing in hers, I admit.
Really white trainers. I have kids. It's unsustainable.
Crop tops. Did these in 1992, when nobody would avert their gaze at the sight of my midriff. What's more annoying is thinking "ooh that's nice!" Pulling it off the rail and.....nope, it's cropped.
Beige, brown and blush pink. I wore a brown school uniform so brown is the colour I will never wear. The other two make me look dead.
Cropped trousers.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 26/08/2020 09:00

I tried on a beige rain coat once. I looked like Inspector Gadget.

ElizabethMainwaring · 26/08/2020 09:01

@audreyand

Cycling shorts. With a blazer Confused
As worn by Milli Vanilli? (One for the teenagersSmile)
Bleepbloopblarp · 26/08/2020 09:31

I can’t believe no one has yet mentioned the trend for young girls wearing tiny tight denim shorts which the bottom half of their arses hang out of? Usually paired with copious amounts of fake tan?

It doesn’t matter how peachy their bums are (though most aren’t) - it looks so tarty and “look at my arse!” and it makes me cringe. I wouldn’t let my dd leave the house like that personally, you can see all the middle aged men salivating and their eyes popping out on stalks as they pass. Gross.

Hate hate hate the contoured, piled-on slap look - it just makes me think the wearer lacks self esteem and I want to give them a good scrub! I’d rather see pale, blemished natural skin than oily, orange, layered on cement mix!

Worldgonecrazy · 26/08/2020 09:39

@Bleepbloopblarp I agree. I also have noticed a trend for thong bikinis worn by teenagers. I’m sure they look amazing on photoshopped models but on a pale and flabby British bum, they look awful. I also notice that teenage boys do t seem to be expected to show their butt cheeks on the beach, which whilst a blessing, does show the sexist disparity of teen fashion.

Atalune · 26/08/2020 10:15

elizabetainwaring yes!! Milli vanilla- girl you know it’s true! Wasn’t there a scandal about it them not actually being the singers? It was lip syncing. They were so ahead their time!

CatBatCat · 26/08/2020 10:18

I love the fact that almost my entire wardrobe has been mentioned on this thread. Along with a load of other stuff I also don't like and would never own. Grin

We'd get tired of looking at each other if we all looked the same.

WhatamessIgotinto · 26/08/2020 10:21

@CatBatCat loads of stuff I like has been mentioned too Cat and I started the thread. 😁

Good job your judgemental opinion doesn't matter then, and the middle aged men are the problem, not the young women's clothes.

SnuggyBuggy · 26/08/2020 10:21

I find the dull sludgy palette that teens tend to stick to these days a bit depressing. I love hearing people tell me about that "what was I thinking?" neon fluorescent outfit they had as a teenager. I'm thinking MILs bright yellow bomber jacket and red platforms. I wonder if they'll regret it Grin

cansu · 26/08/2020 10:27

cold shoulder tops
cropped tops
huge trainers especially with dresses or skirts
unnatural eyebrows

Cloudhopping · 26/08/2020 10:29

Pleather trousers/wet look leggings/coated jeans-yuck just yuck. No one looks good in them

WhatamessIgotinto · 26/08/2020 10:32

@Cloudhopping my wet look jeans are a bit of a guilty pleasure

DH hates them With a passion

I am really far too chunky of thigh to look good in them but I can’t help but want to wear them Grin

Hardbackwriter · 26/08/2020 10:36

@Bleepbloopblarp firstly, very short shorts are definitely not a recent thing. Secondly, what I find works - and I'm happy to offer this as a tip - is to not really look at teenagers bums and to not care whether they look 'tarty'. It makes it a lot easier to live your own life if you don't go around finding reasons to judge children. Happy to help!

Bwlch · 26/08/2020 10:40

It's not just teenage girls.

peaceanddove · 26/08/2020 10:42

I love my coated jeans, and I live in them + oversized jumpers + boots during the Winter. But, I steer clear of the shiny, wetlook ones as they're a bit too dominatrix.

Eaumyword · 26/08/2020 10:51

Oh yes, skinny jeans - so glad I'm not a teenager, my legs are far too fat for them!
I dislike heavily drawn eyebrows, grey/beige cheek contouring and thick lash extensions too, think the wearer is probably prettier without them.

Crumpets4butter · 26/08/2020 11:02

Not into beards at all, remind me of my dad.

Sportluxe/athleisure. Just don't get it.

Contouring and fake eyelashes because I can't do either!
