I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

False eyelashes, massive long plastic nails. Pumped up lips, orange fake tan, heavy makeup. I have no problem with eyelashes being fake if own lashes are sparse.

SlipsAndLols · 25/08/2020 20:37

Midi dresses are ok by me because I’m petite. A regular midi dress = a maxi dress on me. Result.

I’m all for people wearing what they want. For myself I won’t wear:

Anything I wore the first time it was in fashion
Cold shoulder tops
Skinny jeans
Dungarees I look like an Oompah Loompa in them
Jumpsuits make me look like I'm wearing a fancy dress baby costume but I've seen taller women wear them and look stunning
Animal print I look like Pat Butcher/Bet Lynch
DMs too many blisters the first time round
Smock dresses

A particular dislike of mine are those massive puff sleeves, especially on short dresses. They dwarf me and make me look like Grayson Perry as Claire.

Rebelwithallthecause · 25/08/2020 20:38

Mum jeans
Trousers showing the ankle
Low rise trousers or jeans
Chunky ugly trainers
Trainers for anything but exercise

kennycat · 25/08/2020 20:45

Leggings without long tops
Hideous painted nails
Fluffy Pool slides

TwentyViginti · 25/08/2020 20:47

@Mondaymanic

I love skinny jeans
Me too! wardrobe staple.
SpeedofaSloth · 25/08/2020 20:54

I just want to find a pair of trousers that reach my ankles
Oh yes, this, totally.

SnuggyBuggy · 25/08/2020 20:59

As a short arse I find the ankle baring trousers are actually a good length on me though I do agree it looks daft to have your ankles showing.

Jemenfouscompletement · 25/08/2020 21:01

@Winglessvulture Thankyou - I live in France but have found them here and ordered accordingly! Skinny jeans are fine if you are straight up and down like me, in winter with boots nothing better.

Illdealwithitinaminute · 25/08/2020 21:19

If you go on BooHoo and look at mom jeans, all the models have high high heels on to try to make them look thinner and sexier! Not sure heels are out in this context.

AdventureCode · 25/08/2020 21:20

Adding those weird lycra sock ankle boots to the list.

Also the "meet me at McDonald's" hair cut that teenage boys have, they remind me of giraffes hair

kazlau · 25/08/2020 21:21

I like cold shoulder tops. A bit of menopausal ventilation!!

MitziK · 25/08/2020 21:21

I also despise teddy bear jackets.

My mother started wearing fleeces like them about fifteen years ago when they first became available and, moreover, they were dirt cheap compared to a proper coat - and never stopped. Together with black (well, faded grey) leggings stopping just above her ankles, slip on plastic Ballerinas and a sleeveless polyester top or a ditzy flower print vest. She'd mix it up a bit with a beige, mint green or puce/beige anorak when it rained. The entire look went well with her cauliflower perm.

AdventureCode · 25/08/2020 21:23

Oh there was also those 3/4 length jeans that flared out half way between your knees and your ankle, weirdest ever Jean I've ever seen!

Wolfgirrl · 25/08/2020 21:32

Are sweatshirts out or in? I've seen one I quite like but dont know if they are only for teens (I'm late 20s)

chartreuse · 25/08/2020 21:41

I'm very much a live and let live person but I really, really hate leggings, they flatter no one even size 6 models.

White leather trainers, I really don't get this trend, they are so ugly.

Midi dresses and skirts with the above trainers. I know I'm in a minority because so many women Clearly love this combination, and if you love it, wear it!

Bubbletrouble43 · 25/08/2020 21:43

Scandi this and Scandi that. Wtf.

wanderings · 25/08/2020 21:48

Has nobody mentioned Ugg boots? They usually come marching into these threads. I don't mind Uggs, but I don't like seeing trainer socks which are half in and out of the shoes.

LioneIRichTea · 25/08/2020 21:50

Cropped wide leg trousers with clumpy trainers. I think they seem to make even model like women look frumpy.

Also cropped wide leg jeans. I know it’s ‘fashion’ but it manages to look dated somehow.

Hardbackwriter · 25/08/2020 21:56

My pick is also the current obsession with absolutely all trousers being cut to above the ankle. I really hate it, I'm tall and I think have some residual trauma from my school trousers always being a bit too short, they just look like I couldn't find them in my length. I think they're universally unflattering and also look shit with any shoes that you could actually wear on a cool day and when it was raining.

LioneIRichTea · 25/08/2020 21:57

But legs do look like parsnips anyway, we aren't lego figures of course the ankle is thinner and narrower than the top of the thigh! Skinny jeans are far more flattering than trunk legs effect of wide cropped trousers and look nicer with boots.

Yes! I have fairly large thighs but if I wore wide legs it’d look like I have thighs all the way down Grin

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 25/08/2020 22:04

I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

That's what I came in to say! Grin

Atalune · 25/08/2020 22:06

I don’t love those 2fer type tops, the one with a short collar and cuff sewn in but it’s just a shit jumper?

Also ruffles and puffs and peplums. I think we must have ran out of ideas to go there. I’m 40, I don’t want a babydoll swing vest will a zillion ruffles thank you high street.

SpeedofaSloth · 25/08/2020 22:07

residual trauma from my school trousers always being a bit too short

Also this.

LadyCatStark · 25/08/2020 22:17

Men in those really low cut trainer socks that make them look like they have no socks on, especially with leather shoes 🤢. They look even worse when they go indoors and take their shoes off and just ponce around in these tiny little socks (I’m looking at you DH 🤨).

Thisischocolate · 25/08/2020 22:21

Large hoop earrings
Birds nest hair (unbrushed hair piled on the top of head)
Leggings on anyone over age 10
Animal prints
Crop tops
Foundation that is way too dark, usually applied with a trowel
Fake long nails
