Where do we stand on over the knee boots at 50?

So, I have always wanted a pair of suede over the knee boots to wear with loose jumper dresses etc. I turn 50 this year and now thinking maybe I'm just too old, though my legs are surprisingly good for my age (and the baggy jumper dresses will hide my middle aged tum) x

Unless you are a pirate or a hooker it’s a no from me.

Shakirasma · 22/08/2020 18:27

Over the knee boots look awful whatever your age IMO

MsSweary · 22/08/2020 18:29

I'm with them before me.

JulesM73 · 22/08/2020 18:30

As a woman also about to turn 50 it’s a big fat no from me.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 22/08/2020 18:33

Your age is irrelevant. Especially if they are flat.

I’m not a fan (and I’ve got cracking legs) but if you like them and they suit you, wear them regardless of age.

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/08/2020 18:43

In my 50s. I have several pairs. Go for it

LulworthBlues · 22/08/2020 18:45

A no from me (all ages!)

Derekhello · 22/08/2020 18:47

If you like them and they look good who cares what others think. I’m 50 this year and always wanted a pair so I might join you 😆 Buy the boots!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/08/2020 18:49

I would love a flat pair ( M&S did some non-leather an I was seriously tempted) but I'd only wear with jeggings .

DD reminded me I'd look a bit Shirley Carter (Eastenders) so that crushed that dream

(I'm 54)

Fleamaker123 · 22/08/2020 18:53

I don't like them whatever the age... Dick Whittington springs to mind. But if you like them go for it.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 22/08/2020 18:58

It totally depends on what you mean by over the knee - just over is fine (age irrelevant), but not the higher ones that look as if they'd be worn by principal boy in a panto.

changenamez · 22/08/2020 19:02

On the knee ones are nice. I've got Fairfax and Favor ones

NewKittyMeow · 22/08/2020 19:05

Frankly if you can fit them, wear them. Fuck this misogynistic shit about being too old.

Whenwillow · 22/08/2020 19:07

I love over the knee boots. They look awful on me but if you have nice legs and the right dress I'd go for it.
Never too old!

Isolatedizzy · 22/08/2020 19:09

I've git a flat pair from Russel & Bromley, they are beautiful soft leather. To be fair I was well under 50 when I got them but still wear them now!

Plussizejumpsuit · 22/08/2020 19:09

I don't think they are nice at all. Age is irrelevant. Sorry

FinnyStory · 22/08/2020 19:11

I don't think there's anything to stop you because of your age but they're not nice on anyone and also, I suspect, have been and gone interns of current fashion.

Umbridge34 · 22/08/2020 19:12

I love over the knee boots. But I agree that if theyre too high they have a definite pirate vibe. I personally like just over the knee ones, largely because I love the look of knee boots but I seem to have long calves so they never sit right on me.
My mum (54) really wanted some for ages so I bought her some last year to wear exactly as you describe OP with jumper dress. She looks fab, they come just over her knee.

KipperSlippers · 22/08/2020 19:15

I'd say no tbh. But only because you'll look like the principal boy. However if you love the look etc then crack on and have the confidence in your own style.

Elieza · 22/08/2020 19:23

Navy blue suede. Beautiful but not hookerish Grin. Just saving up to buy them myself.

CrazyToast · 22/08/2020 19:43

Wear what you want! There's no such thing as being too old. People on here don't personally like them, that's fine but has no bearing on whether you like them. I personally don't like them for me, but I would love seeing you enjoying yours! Not everything suits everyone. So do it! Live your life!

Ghostlyglow · 22/08/2020 19:46

Why is everyone obsessed with age limits. Just stop and wear anything you want at any age Smile

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/08/2020 20:00

Pfft wear them if you fancy.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 22/08/2020 20:34

I'm 45 and have some that I wear with midi length dresses. Low block heel. I'm neither a hooker not a pirate!

MikeUniformMike · 22/08/2020 20:40

I had some just over the knee ones from next and they were great. I was in my 40s and neither looked like a pirate or a tart. They had a low heel.
