Still really hot here. No thunderstorms yet. Maybe tomorrow the postman tells me. @Judystilldreamsofhorses I’m sorry you have cooler weather and especially sorry about the lockdown in Aberdeen. Does that impact you going back to lecturing?

So hot here. Apparently we're due thunderstorms this afternoon. I can't wait. Its 30 degrees upstairs in our house. 😰🔥

I've basically given up on wearing anything flattering in favour of being as cool as possible. My DM gave me this just after I'd had DS last year. I didn't get much wear out of it then as I was breastfeeding and it wasn't BF friendly, but now it's too big as I'm about a stone and a half lighter, so it looks a bit like I'm wearing a marquee and tips over from "billowy" to "parachute-esque" when I turn to the side. It's, without doubt, the coolest thing I own, though, as the material is lovely and it's so loose, so I'm just going with it, because I just want to be vaguely comfortable. No idea where it's from, can't find any labels on it.

@Sickoffamilydrama I really like the green dress in your first post.

DH says I look like I'm in Miami Vice, but I don't care! This shirt (Zara) is billowy and cool. The shorts are from J Crew again.

Just off to ride before the storms (hopefully) hit as I have no desire to end up in the next county. Given the horse's habit of exiting stage right of a leaf blows in the wrong direction I'm not keen to find out the reaction to thunder.

Enjoy your ride @Shannith. I'm starting to miss it now after selling my little mare recently. Visiting a friend in a few weeks and she's booked for us to go for a hack. I'm quite excited to be back on board, although it'll be quite different riding in a riding school type setting, I think!

The promised storms seem to be being pushed back later and later here today. Every time I check they're an hour later than before and I'm just desperate for something to break this hot weather finally. Its 33 degrees here and I've resorted to working whilst sitting on my bed as the study at the front of the house is unbearably hot with the sun beating down through the window.

@toastfiend I'm not surprised you miss it. Hope you enjoy the hack. Horse was selfish yes today as the only way to keep cool was to go fast so there was a breeze. That dress looks lovely. There is a strange man in my bedroom (painting the ceiling) so I'm still in riding gear and sweating attractively.

Is good for tracking storms live and how close hey are. Weirdly addictive when the storm is overhead as the little lightning flashes on screen happen in real- time so it flashes as you flash.

I started working at 7am so I could leave early as Mother Lobster's 90th birthday is today .... and I only took a photograph this morning of me in a Next vest and Primark pyjamas rolled up, which I can't post as I look so scruffy, so here's Ma Lobster instead 😀.

Happy birthday to your DD @Sickoffamilydrama. I have teenagers - it’s my favourite stage of parenting to date. I think teenagers get a bad press.

Overcast at the moment and only forecast to get to 29C today. I never thought I’d consider that to be a cooler day! I’m already on my second outfit of the day as I got exercising out of the way first thing (mostly old rowing kit - sports bra from H&M)

Thanks for the lightning map link @Shannith. I followed it all day, and we had lightning within about 10 miles of us, but none ever actually got here. The BBC lied to me! Bastards! Still so hot, the humidity is adding a nice, clammy touch, too. I'm still holding out hope it's going to rain (ever the optimist!)

Very casual today. The heat has sapped my ability to care what I look like, I think. I do have a Zoom meeting later, though, so probably need to smarten up a touch, although only from the waist up at least.

Yes @toastfiend it was you! They are the happiest trousers ever I hadn't heard of Lucy and Yak until recently but I love how different their stuff is. I bought some lovely green dungarees from them too but had to send them back as the bib was way too short on me, hopefully they'll bring out more tall versions soon!
