I’ve already earmarked 3 of the new dresses to try on. I’m going to run out of room to store all the Toast dresses soon....there’s a lot of material!

Alsohuman · 27/06/2020 11:54

I’m done. Two new dresses and a jacket are enough for me. I don’t want to reach the point where I’ve got so much new stuff that I don’t wear anything else. It won’t stop me earmarking winter clothes to buy in the sale, in fact I’m hoping to try them before the sale so I don’t have to return anything.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 27/06/2020 17:32

The JL sale and toast sale have taken most of my money Grin. I've been wearing the kado dress in the hot weather we've had and loved it. Felt like I was wafting on the French Riviera. Thanks to the poster who suggested t-shirt under or knotted shirt over - think both will work well and trying one look out today.
Cherries I think the trousers look good and very wearable still but LOVE the blouse you are wearing with them. Toast i assume?!
I've done some creative accounting and spent the money saved at JL on the linen blend jumpsuit - really like it but still ££ in the sale. Gulp.
railings I've eyed up that baukjen dress before, it looks lovely on you.

slipperyeel · 27/06/2020 21:02

JL seem to have some stock back including a linen tshirt for £16.50

Saurus72 · 27/06/2020 21:29

A few more things are back in stock on John Lewis. I just bought a white linen t-shirt which should hopefully be good to wear with PJ bottoms www.johnlewis.com/toast-linen-boy-t-shirt-white/p4021704

faustina · 27/06/2020 21:36

I returned one of the linen t-shirts! It was a lovely shape but completely transparent. I was hoping the darker ones would appear at some point, but no such luck

ilovecherries · 27/06/2020 21:38

Bernice, thank you. Yes, the shirt is Toast as well, from the sale last summer.

Moominmammaatsea · 27/06/2020 22:56

Bernice, how did you get on wearing your Kado with the T-shirt under/shirt over? Mine is languishing on the wardrobe door as I don’t feel comfortable wearing it ‘naked’. I’m beginning to think I should set it free for someone else to adore! (size 10/JL purchase). With that in mind, I did order the olive cotton sateen dress when it (very briefly) popped back onto the John Lewis site (£160 reduced to £48 and very highly rated on the Toast website).

Saurus72 · 27/06/2020 23:08

@faustina yes all of the reviews say the white is transparent so it will be to wear around the house/to bed only. So strange it’s still full price on Toast website, 70% off on JL. Seems more and more likely they won’t be stocking it at all in future 😕

faustina · 27/06/2020 23:27

@Saurus72 - I do hope not! I think someone upthread said they asked and JL have new stock coming in? Fingers firmly crossed that’s the case. Maybe they’re just desperate to clear some space for the new season stuff

Moominmammaatsea · 27/06/2020 23:31

Saurus, I don’t necessarily think this means the end of Toast @ JL; I have, for the last few years, snaffled a lot of Toast at 70 per cent off in the JL Christmas Eve and Summer sales (sorry, clearance bargains! Last summer, for example, I bought a job lot of the boy linen T-shirts for £16.50 (?) in a Mediterranean blue (not sure of the exact shade) because, along with the offerings from Cos, Toast T-shirts are - for me - the only ones that seem to get better with age because they wash and wear so beautifully.

ilovecherries · 27/06/2020 23:40

I’m still dithering about sending the checked Kala dress back. It’s super comfy but I wonder if I look slightly deranged wandering about in it.

AmethystMoonShine · 28/06/2020 08:03

I’ve got the Kala too @ilovecherries, I’ve dithered but decided to keep as I really like it over my long (ish) Toast denim skirt and the denim V neck dress. I have tried it either fully unbuttoned or partially. I pulled the belt in and tied it behind my back (bit like on a mac coat) to give it some shape. I’m basically in love with the fabric, so bright and striking but not crazy!

Countmeout · 28/06/2020 08:05

I’m sure John Lewis like many retailers have a great deal of stock to shift so fingers crossed that explains the blanket reductions. I sometimes think Toast is quite miserly with reductions.

The double breasted jacket from John Lewis arrived and although it’s lovely soft fabric as I suspected double breasted is not me, I feel too buttoned up and it just doesn’t work for me open.

I thought the Kala dress looked lovely @ilovecherries are you styling it as they do ?

@Laska2Meryls I loved those leaf trousers but gave sat on my hands, I tried the leaf dress in the last mid season sale but it was very small fitting and incredibly lo cut. I really like the pattern and colours.
I also am done (except I have the Alix trousers yet to come and the shoes and cardigan but am not holding out for success with any of them)

Do we think that Toast will further reduce? Im still looking longingly at that bag I sent back 🙄

ilovecherries · 28/06/2020 09:00

Moonshine, I think maybe I need to try it as a layering piece, which would relegate it to spring/autumn probably. As a dress, I’m just not sure. I like the idea of it, then I think of myself wandering around the village with it on, and all the local teens sniggering.

ilovecherries · 28/06/2020 09:01

I think they will do one final reduction. I was looking at my orders from last year and they did a final one early July before stopping the sale.
Laska2Meryls · 28/06/2020 09:06

🤞then Cherries!

AmethystMoonShine · 28/06/2020 09:26

@ilovecherries I also tried it with a white tee shirt underneath and a brown leather belt. I doubt I’ll wear it much on its own but I do love the colours.
I’m beyond caring what the local teen think Grin when I get them out of wherever I’ve ‘hidden’ them I’m dying to try it with my DMs too.

Yorkshirelass04 · 28/06/2020 11:01

Does anyone own / like this jacket? https://www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+sale+coats+and+jackets/c5ndb/ikat+check+wide+sleeve+wrap+jacket.htm?clr=C5NDBMultii_sw

Originally I would have said no way but it's grown on me. Reasonable price now too. The reviews are excellent.

Moominmammaatsea · 28/06/2020 11:36

Yorkshirelass, I absolutely love that jacket and I think it could be versatile all year round, especially if you can layer it over a jumper in autumn and spring. I think it’s a jacket you can definitely dress up or down, over jeans or a denim skirt, or over a summer dress.

Alsohuman · 28/06/2020 12:00

I quite fancied that jacket too. The things that put me off it were the colour - referred to in this house as baby shit - and the length, it looks quite short.

Who’s being hard on themselves now @ilovecherries?😉

Yorkshirelass04 · 28/06/2020 12:39

Oh and by the way I dreamt about Toast (yes I really did)

I was staying at a Toast hotel somewhere sunny and the rooms were full of things to try on :)

🤣🤣. Yes, I did see the irony of it as I typed it, and hoped I’d get away with it 😀. I don’t feel shit wearing it, I just know it’s the kind of outfit that will draw eyes in my high street, and that makes me nervous. I’ve def got better at not caring, but the gremlins still live!

I’d pay money for that hotel!
