Only if you have a free return label @Laska2Meryls.

Yup I do !

Moominmammaatsea · 15/07/2020 20:00

A word of warning about using a non-assigned free returns label...Having had a Toast Post Pass (and being a canny Yorkshire lass), I begrudged paying £3 to order - and then have to pay to return - a VERY expensive pair of Paraboot shoes purchased in the sale (because they were Borrower size). I had the bright idea of using an old free returns label I’d stuffed in a drawer. Big mistake!

Toast refunded the amount I’d spent on the original item (a tee shirt bought absolutely yonks ago) rather than the mega bucks that the Paraboot handmade shoes had cost. Yikes!

All sorted now, but it was a bit hairy. Maybe I’m incredibly naive but I had no idea that returns labels are barcoded to the original item ordered (which, in my book, makes a bit of a mockery of the need to fill in a returns sheet).

Moominmammaatsea · 15/07/2020 20:16

Yay! Just managed to get a pair of size 10 Jude trousers from JL for £49.50!

slipperyeel · 15/07/2020 20:17

Love that throw @Moominmammaatsea and at £150 for a new sofa it’s a bargain!

Countmeout · 15/07/2020 20:23

Ah well now. Being equally canny (although not from Yorkshire much further north and to the left with a hefty dose of Scots ancestry) I had photocopied a return label and put it in a drawer and forgot about it, and found it - and ordered something thinking I’d still a return label left. I did indeed use it, and thankfully all went through ok. My worry was the man in the post office would know I’d already used it. The refund appeared for the correct amount promptly. I suppose the barcode could be crossed out though 😱
I am going to moan again and I hope Toast are reading, really I’d order much more if returns were free , and inevitably probably keep more. It’s impossible to guess how things will fit/ look. I don’t mind the £3 delivery but really don’t want to pay £3 AND a return charge. (Really I’m so tight I don’t want to pay anything ) My nearest Toast shop is a plane or ferry ride away so returning to shop is not an option. At least John Lewis sends a return label, as it’s equally far to one of those too. Rant over.

That throw is beautiful @Moominmammaatsea, and a good price as I bet it’s great quality.

Moominmammaatsea · 15/07/2020 21:39

@Laska2Meryls, you’re living the life, on the Isle of Wight, posting in your shorts while the rest of us are in jumpers - and now you let slip you have a camper van, too! 😎

Officially, you are living the life I will choose for myself when my children are all grown up and leaving home (only another 14 years - minimum - to go). Ho-hum.

The throw is absolutely lovely; I’d spent ages considering it while I pondered yay or nay to a new sofa. We’re a very hygge family (zig that doesn’t sound too plonker-ish?)and I have a thing about blankets (we usually spend the summer in Pembrokeshire and I buy a local Melin Tregwynt blanket every year as my very special holiday souvenir) but the children complain bitterly as, despite how good the Welsh blankets look, they are flipping itchy! The Toast throw is lovely and soft and dark enough in shade to be virtually child-proof.

applecatchers36 · 15/07/2020 21:45

Moomin I also wasn't hopeful I ordered 2 one in the olive green but was too big so sent back and this was smaller and fitted. We spend a lot of time by the sea and it's a great weight for a summer jumper on a windy day on the beach.
The linen quilt looks a great find and cheaper than a new sofa!

Laska the slate grey linen trousers get my vote too

Saurus72 · 15/07/2020 21:53

@Countmeout the issue with Toast is that the sizing can truly be mental - I have dresses in 3 different sizes that all fit really well. If they (and other retailers to be fair) were more consistent there would be far fewer returns, better for everyone concerned. I’ve been shopping online for years and I just cannot believe no shops seem to have figured this out yet.

ilovecherries · 15/07/2020 23:57

Does anyone have any of the indigo twill items. I’m still dithering on keeping the Ivar jacket but I’m concerned about dye transfer. For example, it looks great with the Seth linen shirt, but I can just imagine the shirt being wrecked within minutes. How bad is it - can you wash it out, or is it constantly rubbing off the garment?

AmethystMoonShine · 16/07/2020 05:53

@ilovecherries I have a love hate relationship with indigo! I really, really love it and it suits me..... BUT oh how the colour transfer drives me crazy! I have a beautiful indigo dyed linen shirt, which looks great over a white fitted tee... except the tee is blue afterwards Hmm I have always got the blue out (vanish spray, vanish gold for whites in-wash powder plus sunlight line drying)
My indigo dyed tee isn’t so bad as I tend to wear that alone. I had an indigo cotton cardigan which I sold on eBay in the end as it only really looked nice over white and I had to do ‘operation stain removal’ after each wear.
I often wonder if I washed and wore them more if the rub would stop? But I researched indigo dye and it seems it cannot be ‘fixed’ effectively, hence the warnings of colour rub and the ongoing fading (which can look lovely). I tried adding salt to the wash as a fixative but it’s never made a noticeable difference to indigo items I’ve had.
So now I tend to only wear indigo with blue jeans and pale blue tees under.

Laska2Meryls · 16/07/2020 08:34

That doesn't sound too good Faustina. I have the delave linen U neck dress from the winter sale which is Indigo. And I have not worn it yet ( it was slightly too tight across bust at the time to wear anything under but have lost the weight now). I wonder if that will transfer also.

paintyhands · 16/07/2020 08:58

@ilovecherries I have a few indigo items and agree, but I never think of this until after I buy! My indigo jumpsuit rubbed colour onto my Moroccan shoulder basket at the weekend. I still haven’t worn my new JL indigo items. You have me swithering now but I think I’ll keep them.

Laska2Meryls · 16/07/2020 09:16

Moominmama
Its not all idyllic ! We can get big strorms blowing in from Atlantic and fog, even in the summer, and theres not much here to do in the rain but hunker down in a Welsh blanket ( if only I had one, they are gorgeous) .
Campervan is a very recent acquisition, we actually agreed to buy it a week before lockdown and were only able to pick it up a couple of weeks ago. So haven't actually used it yet! A bit wary yet of upsurges do giving it a few more weeks to give it a go somewhere, but planning hopefully Portugal in the Autumn.

ilovecherries · 16/07/2020 09:21

Thanks for the indigo feedback. This is what I feared. I’m not sure realistically if I will wear it enough if it does that so badly.

Laska2Meryls · 16/07/2020 10:09

Ooh isnt this nice? Have not noticed it previously Kato ikat dress

ilovecherries · 16/07/2020 10:15

That’s lovely, laska. Would transition to winter nicely as well.

Saurus72 · 16/07/2020 10:20

I saw that this morning @Laska2Meryls - looks like they’ve added a few more things. I’m currently mini-obsessing about this in the Slate Blue looks so cosy plus would look good with fine knit long sleeved t-shirt underneath : www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+dresses+and+tunics/c1pbo/needlecord+pleat+dress.htm

albird · 16/07/2020 10:37

Just taken delivery of the Japanese Check Button Shoulder Dress - took a punt on the xs (usually a 10/12 but it was the only size left) and its absolutely gorgeous!! I now own a dress, a pair of trousers a shirt and a jacket - the beginning of my Toast journey.

Laska2Meryls · 16/07/2020 11:09

Saurus I had a cord dress like that inthe 80s! loved it!
Albird Thats it! You are sunk.. you will never have any spare money again 😂

ilovecherries · 16/07/2020 11:12

allbird, you are now standing right on the edge of a very slippery slope...

AuldFox · 16/07/2020 11:17

Kiss your bank account goodbye albird!

Alsohuman · 16/07/2020 11:35

I’m thinking of setting myself a Toast budget and when it’s gone, it’s gone. Pure fantasy, I know.

Moominmammaatsea · 16/07/2020 12:17

albird, this is how it starts - it’s thin edge of the wedge stuff!
