Thanks @MaudesMum - no need to apologise for leaving your ‘Toast outlet store information centre’ to go out and have your life. I’m not going for a while yet but v excited about it 🤓. Need to allocate some funds...

ilovecherries · 13/07/2020 19:05

I wondered that alsohuman. I have no idea when I will ever be able to do recreational shopping, but it all sounds very sad and depressing anyway. 5 months ago I loved to go to the shops - not necessarily to buy, but to look at what was new, how things were being styled, coffee, bookshop etc.

PepperOnMyPaprikash · 13/07/2020 19:29

@Squiz81

I keep looking at this www.toa.st/uk/product/all+sale/c7ndg/light+cotton+check+shirt.htm?categoryref=%2fbasket.aspx&pcat=all+sale&adimage=&clr=C7NDG_RedEcru_sw

The colour looks quite different in the pictures used and I’m worried it will be a bit low. Has anyone got it?

@Squiz81 I ordered this - the colour is lovely and the quality brilliant - but it is massive! I ordered a 12 (my usual size) and I should have gone for a 10 or possibly an 8. The sleeves are long too.
Saurus72 · 13/07/2020 19:36

Me too @ilovecherries , one of the things I really miss is the option to have a mooch, see what’s new, pop into SpaceNK to try a lipstick, have a coffee/lunch. It’s so fraught I can’t imagine just wandering again now. Very sad.

Alsohuman · 13/07/2020 19:46

Yes, it was very depressing. I think the more you loved the shops before - and I really did - the less you’re going to want to go now. Even though it made me sad, it still didn’t take the shine off my haircut! The joy of looking like me again is massive. It’s made me appreciate all over again that my hairdresser is worth every penny.

Moominmammaatsea · 13/07/2020 20:01

@Alsohuman, I am literally counting down the seconds till my first hair appointment since January this Wednesday morning!

The thing I really miss is our local charity shops; books (including Persephone) for me and the children, great quality kids’ clothes and toys for a song and random bits and pieces for our home (my pre-lockdown highlight was a 1960s Anglepoise lamp for £4 and it works perfectly). My very favourite thing to do in any location we visit is to seek out the charity shops for a mooch.

Squiz81 · 13/07/2020 20:37

Thank you @PepperOnMyPaprikash that’s helpful. I’m on 8/10 so I’m guessing I might need a 6. Although I’m now not sure about the frill on the shoulders 😅 think I will sleep on it!

Me too @Moominmammaatsea one of our local charity shops reopened a couple of weeks back and I was so pleased. It has the youngest workforce of all the charity shops in town so I’m guessing the volunteers all felt a bit more comfortable with opening.

Pikachubaby · 13/07/2020 21:06

I really miss Toast archive sales, do you remember those? Ahhhh

neveradullmoment99 · 13/07/2020 22:38

@Pikachubaby I remember them! They were amazing and full of bargains from years back. Some beautiful things. So affordable. Such a shame they stopped them. I used to wait for their sales. They were so good.

Saurus72 · 13/07/2020 22:55

They were fabulous, a really nerve wracking experience with things disappearing from your basket before you could checkout! Low hit rate, some truly bizarre things but utter gems amongst them made it worth the hunt!

neveradullmoment99 · 13/07/2020 23:31

I remember a gorgeous knitted poncho that was so expensive. It had fringes and a hood and utterly beautiful. I never bought it though. Felt it might just not be me. Things were so reduced! They did the main sale and then the archive after it. I wonder why they stopped?
Did anyone watch The Nest on bbc iplayer. The lady who wanted the baby wore exclusively Toast. She had on a few things I have got! She had on a the Lydia jumpsuit. She looked lovely in it. I have actually ordered it in the washed black.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/07/2020 23:31

She even had the veja trainers on!

neveradullmoment99 · 13/07/2020 23:31

It was a good drama. Worth watching. Think there were about 6 episodes.

applecatchers36 · 14/07/2020 06:23

Yes enjoyed the best and that house by the lake beautiful but creepy

applecatchers36 · 14/07/2020 06:23

Nest not best!

Laska2Meryls · 14/07/2020 08:00

Cherries did you keep the Kala dress? Reviews say small on shoulders , what do think ?
I have ordered as only 50 . But if it fits I may get it shortened so its more a tunic

ilovecherries · 14/07/2020 08:15

12 fitted me fine Laska, with room for a shirt underneath. So I would say on my figure, pretty TTS.

Laska2Meryls · 14/07/2020 08:35

Did you keep it? I went for 16.. because of my rugby players shoulders .. maybe I should try the 14 also

AmethystMoonShine · 14/07/2020 10:12

@Laska2Meryls I know I wasn’t asked.... but anyway Grin I have the Kala in 12 too and am usually a 10 in dresses from Toast. I also have broad shoulders/ back and it’s a neat fit. I wouldn’t be able to get a shirt under mine, I’d have needed a 14 for that I think. I can get a neat fitting tee under the 12 though.

AuldFox · 14/07/2020 11:42

I needed a 14 in this dress to avoid tightness over the boobs, it’s now roomy. I’ll be wearing this with a polo neck underneath and boots in the autumn.

Laska2Meryls · 14/07/2020 12:09

Thanks Amethyst thats useful.. I reckon 16 will be right for me in this dress then ( I am 36e.. )
I have Toast from XS to L!!!

AmethystMoonShine · 14/07/2020 13:19

I’m a 34D so it sounds like you’ll be okay if you want a shirt underneath. I’m pretty sure mine will spend much of its time as a duster type garment or with a tee under unbuttoned to the waist... it also looks good buttoned you at the top with the lower half unbuttoned with my Toast denim skirt under... oh and with parchment coloured jeans. Bet I never wear it as a dress Grin

Rosebath · 14/07/2020 15:52

I tried tacking mine up to see if it would work if it was shortened but because the skirt is quite full it stuck out a lot - seems to need the length to weigh it down. Might have been different if I'd actually cut the fabric though. Will be interested to hear what you think when it arrives!
faustina · 14/07/2020 17:09

So this arrived and it's lovely - and the other stripey tee which I think @Saurus72 also ordered, came too but the colours don't suit me so I've sent it back

Also I picked up the Indigo twill top and I am so upset because they have left the security tag on it - and the only thing they can suggest (because it's sold out now) is that I take it back to a John Lewis, which for me is a long-ish trek into Cambridge and which I'm not going to do right now. So annoying. The woman at Waitrose said they've done it to lots of items and there are a great many upset customers!

Saurus72 · 14/07/2020 17:31

Ah that’s a shame about the colours @faustina - mine is being delivered tomorrow so I’ll see. V annoying about the tag tho, so it’s guess they’re sending things from shop floors hence the tag still being on it?
