@balkanscot they’re lovely. I would just order both sizes as then you’ll be sure! Returns are free anyway I think? I’d always rather get the right size than have the annoying niggle that they’re not quite right. Or are you anywhere near a shop? I see they’re opening up now.

Railingsohno · 12/07/2020 21:04

@Saurus72 love all of those. I thought the green ruffle hem one is amazing but it’s dry clean only which puts me off.

That top in the tobacco is gorgeous.

Railingsohno · 12/07/2020 21:06

@slipperyeel that dress is amazing however I’d freeze in that on Christmas Day! Shock It’s got a really cool Japanese vibe with the wide belt. Love love love!

Moominmammaatsea · 12/07/2020 21:08

@balkanscot, I love the Toast dungarees so much I own three pairs! I am a proper size 10 (nearly 5’9” and probably around 9 stones 7lb) and I have opted for the size 10, even though they’re slightly roomy but not silly-massive, unlike some other Toast garments. I personally hate being restricted in or by my clothes and I feel no pressure to wear things in a body conscious way. I’m happy to have enough room to wear a jumper under in the autumn and winter.

You should be able to order them with free postage from both Toast and John Lewis (and also free returns from both sites).

Railingsohno · 12/07/2020 21:09

I’ve decided to go into a real live Toast shop when I get back from holiday. How exciting! Hoping the sale rail is good 😁

Countmeout · 12/07/2020 21:10

@Moominmammaatsea yes the items on sale at the moment would be all fantastic except the dress which is too dark for me. I love the look of the blue shirt but I do wish they’d stop doing grandad type collars.

@Moominmammaatsea thanks! I am much shorter, 5’3”, so am worried about the swamp factor. I may go for size 8 and hope for the best. I was eyeing up the Seasalt pair , too, but they just don’t look as nice. I will wait until I get paid before ordering as I have just bought Camille Stripe bedlinen . Blush

Thanks about the p&p info.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/07/2020 21:39

@balkanscot. I was the same as you regarding the dungarees. Debated over whether to opt for a size 12 or for the size 10 as that's my usual size in Toast. I contacted toast and she said that they weren't generous. Basically a few weeks later I was on the john lewis website when a size 10 popped up in the sale. So I purchased. Tbh the 12 would have been way too big for me and I am on the upper end of a 12. They are still fairly generous in a 10 on the leg. I love them but definitely size down imo.

Moominmammaatsea · 12/07/2020 21:41

@balkanscot, to be fair, the Seasalt dungarees look a really good copy, they’re half the price of Toast and the reviews are unfailingly 5/5. Yes, maybe opt for the size 8 in Toast as there is some stretch and, as you say, hopefully the leg length will be more appropriate.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/07/2020 21:45

Have you seen the hush pair of dungarees. I have both denim colours - blue and black. I love them too. Not sure if they are still on their website. They have the short dungarees version but that's not the ones I mean. They are 3/4 length on me and I am 5ft 6

neveradullmoment99 · 12/07/2020 21:46

The seasalt dungarees are very nice. I have had them in black but sold them on. They are very like the Toast ones.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/07/2020 21:48

They seem out of stock atm on the hush website but they usually bring a version of them in come autumn.

Moominmammaatsea · 12/07/2020 22:05

@balkanscot, meant to say, lovely bed linen too! I have a weakness for bedding; my current favourite buy is the French linen from Soak&Sleep but I have a vintage brushed flannel striped set from Toast that adorns my bed every winter as it is so cosy.

I realised during lockdown just how important my bed and my bedroom are as sanctuaries (and I suffer from intermittent insomnia) so I upgraded from all the horrible pillows that were giving me neck aches, invested in high thread count sheets and took advantage of the incredible Soak&Sleep sales to buy a couple of sets of the French linen bedding in white. The beauty of these for me is that there’s no need to iron as I feel compelled to with cotton bedding as I hate crumpled beds but I detest ironing even more!

Laska2Meryls · 13/07/2020 05:29

Ooo early awake and like the obsessed thing that I am, looked at JL website.. Lots of Toast dregs.. got the Alix in a12 and the slate linen trousers.. Smile

Pikachubaby · 13/07/2020 06:53

@Moominmammaatsea I have that S&S french bed linen, and a Toast set too

Loooove good sheets

Countmeout · 13/07/2020 09:32

Oh well done @Laska2Meryls.

Probably going to be a bit controversial but I can’t get on with Seasalt at all. I find it just a tad mumsy , I actually probably mean my mother in an older version.(and I am old now) The only thing I’ve ever kept was a pair of brogues. Their jackets in my size swamped me, the sandals were too wide. We DO (by some fluke) have one locally ish and I want to love some of it but every time I go in I just come out again. Just looked at the dungarees and a couple do look nice though. Overall I think it’s a bit staid.

You need to size down in Seasalt, and pick carefully Grin

MaudesMum · 13/07/2020 10:26

Has anyone else seen that they're trialling a sort clothes exchange at some of their branches? You bring in "pre-worn" clothes, exchange them for vouchers and then can spend those vouchers on other "pre-worn" clothes. The only problem is you have to complete a label detailing how and where you wore it. Not sure if its better than flogging items on e-bay which has been quite lucrative in the past!

Railingsohno · 13/07/2020 10:33

@MaudesMum yes I did see that. Great idea although prices are hefty. Not sure they’ll ge able yo do that post Covid.

A bit gutted now to see that my Toast shopping expedition complicated by no changing rooms open! I wonder if they’ll let me try stuff on over what I’m wearing! Shock

Saurus72 · 13/07/2020 10:34

Re: eBay. I have had quite a lot of luck with selling things in the past but had assumed that during Covid it would not be something people would really want to do. But I’ve seen a few comments in this thread about selling now. Is this a good time? And have you had any issues with returns as that would be my dread - getting things sent back from who knows where and in what kind of situation. I’ve got a lot of Jigsaw/Jaeger/& Other Stories clothes I’m pretty sure I’ll never wear again. Would be good to raise funds for future Toast purchases 😊

slipperyeel · 13/07/2020 10:35

Some real toast a likes here and at a bargain price. Just had mine delivered and really pleased with them.

MaudesMum · 13/07/2020 10:49

@Saurus72 Given the length of time items take to go through the post, anything has pretty much been quarantined by the time it arrives, so I can't imagine it would put anyone off. I nearly bought a Toast jumper through e-bay a month ago, but left it too long and someone else got it! @Railingsohno - I went to the Toast discount outlet in Shepton Mallet over the weekend - and indeed the changing rooms were closed. And they asked for contact details on the door because of track & trace. On the bright side, they had a good range of stuff in - and I live close enough that I can pop back with anything that doesn't fit.

Saurus72 · 13/07/2020 10:58

@MaudesMum yes I guess that’s right. Re: outlet store - what are the discounts like?

Railingsohno · 13/07/2020 11:03

@MaudesMum do you remember how long the return period is? Thanks
