John Lewis Black utility jacket Lined and everything! £23!!!!

ilovecherries I like all 3 purchases. I think the blue jacket is so stunning that it would be worth taking in slightly to make it a little more fitted. The colour really suits you.

@Laska2Meryls - that jacket is lovely - and thank you for posting the Jude trousers - I did wonder as the pic of Daphne Self (?) wearing them isn't great either

About the refunds - maybe they're very busy and have fewer staff?

I actually really like the colour of the Alix trousers (you could try pitching Cowpat Brown to Farrow & Ball as a new shade!)

cherries, I’ve looked at the picture of you in the workwear jacket again and I agree that it’s a lovely shade of blue on you. I hope you didn’t think I was being too critical? I actually think the delivery creases have distorted the shape slightly, hence my initial response. Funnily enough, I’m expecting a delivery of the same jacket from the dregs sale this afternoon; I’ll let you know how I find it.

Just to add to the JL refunds discussion, I had a live chat as I’d returned two separate packages on the same day in the same Post Office transaction and one was refunded within two days and the second I was concerned had got lost in the mail. The JL live chat assistant advised that the company gives itself 14 days to refund a returned item and to query anything outside of this timeframe.

@ilovecherries I really like the trousers and top. I think the jacket is a trifle big but love that colour.
@faustina my John Lewis refund took longer this time to come through but landed in my inbox yesterday. Agree Toast have been very quick.

I’ve spent £492 but would have been £1245. About half of it will carry through into my Autumn/winter wardrobe. And I’ve missed 2 holidays so had a bit to spend.

All I need for winter now is a pair of trousers. But I would like a coat, I love coats.

moomin, of course you weren’t too critical. I asked for opinions as I wasn’t sure, no point in having an echo chamber of ‘omg, hun, you look amazing’, if someone clearly doesn’t. I think everyone here gives kind but honest feedback. I think I may look at having the jacket taken in slightly - it IS quite oversized but at the price I could live with paying another tenner to have it fit better. I’m also going to dig out a pair of slimmer cut trousers to try before I decide.

The white shirt is already ironed and in my wardrobe so I guess it’s staying. The trousers are in the maybe pile. They are actually too heavy to wear with sandals despite the colour, so I want to try them with proper shoes and a jumper before deciding.

count, I’m the same, a lot of what I have will take me right through till next spring. We should have been travelling round Europe for 6 months from early March, so that didn’t happen and we’ve ended up completely housebound shielding student DD, as I wouldn’t have had her isolated from us, so I feel completely justified in my somewhat excessive expenditure! I’ve got some lovely things I feel very happy with and will enjoy wearing.

laska, I’m not quite sure what to say about those trousers. Shame about the Alix though, I do love the style of these.

@faustina I have it and I like it. First try I thought the sleeves were an odd length but I think they make for a good balance overall.

Thanks but I didn't get any Toast they only had Alix in 14, but it seems that that's the time that they update everything..
I noticed that the jacket posted above had a nick on the shoulder, and ive just managed to replace it ( was oos earlier so great shout out Moomin👍

I got the Alix trousers in a 12. I will probably keep these and return the parchment ones from earlier.

But I have enough, it may be an opportunity to return stuff for cheaper though!

I managed to nab a linen boy t-shirt in white in my size; these are the best T-shirts ever, so I’m disproportionately pleased.

In other news, my canvas workwear jacket in steel blue arrived today and I absolutely love it - for the princely sum of £55, I can pretend I’m Barbara Hepworth working away in her studio in St Ives. Art is more my thing than gardening, otherwise I would have adopted the Monty Don analogy!

So nothing on JL this morning, looks like they may be winding down on sale..
They have restocked on new Toast though so thats good
