Faustina, I’m 5’7 and a pretty standard size 12 across the high street. I’m wearing a 10 in the photo.

Squiz81 · 07/07/2020 15:29

Here is the Uniqlo dress on, I think the belt takes it from nightwear to dress

Looks great @Laska2Meryls, I prefer the look of it on you to the JL model

faustina · 07/07/2020 15:36

@ilovecherries - thanks.

Love the JL linen dress and the Uniqlo (belted and unbelted)

Zinnia · 07/07/2020 15:38

That looks great on you both ways @Squiz81 - belting the black one made it too short for me but it's fab on you.

Love that JL dress too @Laska2Meryls! Really suits you

Squiz81 · 07/07/2020 15:39

I got this black T-shirt type dress from Uniqlo too, I’ve used a scarf to tie it in at the waist. I prefer it that way, and I figure different scarves each time will make me feel like it’s a new dress 😄

Squiz, the belt makes so much difference, it looks great with it.

Squiz81 · 07/07/2020 15:58

Thanks @Zinnia I’m not very tall and have short legs, maybe for once that has been an advantage!!

Laska2Meryls · 07/07/2020 17:07

OOh cherries I like that but really I HAVE spent too much ! I wasnt so keen on the model.
Squiz live both those Uniquo dresses on you .

I have also had a Joules raincoat arrived today from the sale which I am really pleased with but its still £77 - via JL though so I shall keep my eye out for any Joules further reduction so I can price match .. Its a fab coat .
Coast Midi photo in a bit ..

Great dresses ladies. Looks great for a warm day laska . Those uniqlo dresses really are 100% better with the belts @Squiz81 .
Have fallen off the wagon. I’ve looked at this cardigan every time it’s reappeared so today I jumped. Pure nostalgia- my mother knit me one like this many moons ago. I can see myself wearing it by the fire in winter.

@Countmeout I’m desperately after that one in gold. I wish I’d bought it when I saw it! Looks lovely. All the above dresses look great with the belts - I always like the look of Uniqlo but never seem to get on with anything I buy from there. My husband is a big fan of their denim.

Moominmammaatsea · 07/07/2020 19:34

Anyone else starting to think that our respective delivery drivers will be retiring to Monaco on the proceeds of everything that’s been ordered on this thread?! My lovely Hermes driver (JL) assures me that he’s paid by the package and that it’s been like Christmas to the power of Valentine’s/Easter/Black Friday and the Boxing Day sales all pandemic).

Bernice, your outfits look fab - and I’m intrigued by your trainers in the middle image (I love how you’ve opted for a plum top to make the autumn shades zing) - are they Vejas?

I’m appreciating all the Uniqlo love here as it’s a brand I’ve never got to grips with; I don’t really like the grab-and-run nature of the release of the new collections (although I realise that this statement may be at odds with my insomnia-inspired stalking of the JL Toast sale!) I do, however, adore Marimekko prints so I was delighted on my last trip to London to be able to buy a Marimekko Heat Tech polo-neck in the bargain basement sale. The sizing boggled my mind, though; I felt like I’d gone from Toast vanity sizing to clothing fit for Borrowers only. I’m a genuine size 10 (nearly 5’9” and less than 9.7 stones in weight) but I ended up with something like an XXL to get a top that didn’t cut off my circulation. A good friend always looks amazing in the Christopher Lemaire collection, particularly the coats.

Almahart · 07/07/2020 20:52

@squiz81 those dresses look amazing on you!

Moominmammaatsea · 07/07/2020 21:00

@Laska2Meryls, jealous of where you are living to be able to wear shorts today; it was between 10 and 12 degrees here today (frozen north) and absolutely tipping it down. I was freezing in my Toast denim dungarees, long sleeved t-shirt and Ivar jacket, plus woollen walking socks, hiking boots and a winter-weight woollen scarf!

Laska2Meryls · 07/07/2020 21:15

I'm on the Isle of Wight Moomin
We've had some terrific summer gales over the last few days .. a hazard of being here !
But it was lovely today

Moominmammaatsea · 07/07/2020 21:23

Lucky you, Laska, I’m just heading into a piping hot bath with my new book (and big glass of Pinot noir to try to warm up). In the spirit of encouraging and supporting other Toast-like brands, does anyone here like Neom bath products and Persephone books?

BerniceBobsHerHair · 07/07/2020 22:13

Moomin they are veja, well spotted! And the other pair I am wearing are also veja, I have a bit of a thing for them.
The uniqlo dresses look good squiz belted and not.

Moominmammaatsea · 07/07/2020 22:52

@BerniceBobsHerHair, me too! My 12-year-old has recently appropriated my Campos and I may have caused terminal harm to my v10s (the comfiest trainers in the world) by hiking several miles up a mud track in the middle of a heavy rainstorm rather than being sensible and switching to my boring old wellies (we live in the country and sometimes I want to look cool rather than practical. Several specialist trainer washes and a shit-tonne of Vanish later and my lovely trainers are coming back to life.).

Moominmammaatsea · 07/07/2020 22:56

Bernice, forgot to say that I ordered a pair of Veja 3-lock trainers to go away for next year - 40% off at The White Company (£105
at Arket etc). They sent me a 15% off code so I’m happy to forward it on to anyone who wants it. The White Company is not my natural habitat.

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2020 07:53

Moomin Persephone book s look interesting, I recognise some of the titles !
As for Neon , yes fab, but I am fortunate enough that DS works for Liz Earle ( who are based here) and they give their employees a box free every month and heavily discounted stuff so all stuff comes from them . it wasn't me who strongly urged him to apply....Oh no Grin
So on the ' not buying' I may have accidentally put that Kin blouse in my basket along with these sandals (whistles)....

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2020 08:49

Not shorts weather today ! Raining.
Yesterday I dyed my Japanese trousers navy. I am very pleased with how they turned out .. wearing today with the bone cotton s/s jumper

I love Neom. I don’t tend to use the heir bath stuff but the candles are lovely. Have read a few Persephone books over the years but during lockdown I have developed the concentration of a gnat.

I’m currently annoyed as I cracked and ordered full price trousers from Toast on Friday, paid for next day delivery and they haven’t arrived 😢. They just suddenly dropped off tracking. Toast phones are off for the duration and have yet to get an email response.

AmethystMoonShine · 08/07/2020 09:04

They look great @Laska2Meryls. I’m wearing a pair of Hush Amies joggers to do the housework in today. They’re back& navy striped after I dyed a pair of black & white striped ones I got in the sale. I seem to remember a few of us on the Hush thread dying them! Grin

slipperyeel · 08/07/2020 09:07

I absolutely love Persephone books. If you’re in London the shop is beautiful and they run book clubs with madeira and cake.
The earlier books are the best imo, if you haven’t read Dorothy Whipple you really really must! Happy to chat Persephone with anyone who wants to.

In the sprit of today like sensibilities I’m drinking my tea from a beautiful leach pottery mug this morning.
