@Laska2Meryls you look dead chic! I love black/dark outfits in summer.
Thanks everyone for the green light on Poetry/&daughter! Although my bank balance does NOT thank you. Wink
I'm wearing the white Seth shirt today with the burgundy merino wrap cardigan hehe channeling Moominmamaatsea and Countmeout

Almahart · 05/07/2020 15:41

Someone mentioned on one of these threads the supplier of soap to Toast. Does anyone remember what it is?

Moominmammaatsea · 05/07/2020 16:01

It was me and the business is called Droyts (based in Lancashire).

faustina · 05/07/2020 16:48

@Alsohuman and @Laska2Meryls - those JL bargains are brilliant! I never realised their sales were so good!

That parka is a really nice colour!

Almahart · 05/07/2020 18:08

Thank you @Moominmammaatsea Smile

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2020 09:35

Sadly Toast sale is coming to the end soon ( I dont know when) and lots of us have spent more than enough it seems!
But its been fun hasnt it and I have really enjoyed talking to my fellow 'carrot planting librarian hessian skirt lovers' ( was that it?)..
So shall we keep this going ?( with not just Toast which I am sure not too many of us but at full price often) but other lovely Toast-like clothes talk?
We could even do a bit of Toast and "nod to" 'What we are wearing today ?

Saurus72 · 06/07/2020 09:55

Yes please @Laska2Meryls ! It’s been a joy - I love talking about/planning clothes buying and wearing. When you find just the right thing it’s an absolute joy isn’t it? Am still carrying on ‘buying less but buying better’, which means everything I acquire needs to be really considered, particularly in the context of potential wfh for the next 3-6 months at least. I’m foreseeing lots of merino/cashmere jumpers, but with what I have no idea cos I don’t do jeans or trousers. Jersey skirts maybe. Anyhoo, as you can see (sorry 🤓) I can rumble on about clothes for hours. Would love to carry on!

AmethystMoonShine · 06/07/2020 10:15

Sounds like a plan! Smile

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2020 10:41

Great , a 'less but better thread ' it shall be !! Smile
I must actually plant some more veg seeds!

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2020 10:45

Saurus I really rate And/Or silverlake jeans

ilovecherries · 06/07/2020 11:02

Second the silverlake jeans, although tbh I’ve never been a jeans wearer for wfh. Hate sitting for hours in them. Yes, let’s carry on.

LanternHill · 06/07/2020 11:46

Thank you Laska for linking to the french website....was really interesting. I bought a lovely raffia Toast hat last year from there and I am now eyeing up a bag Wink
I recently purchased some Plumo trousers from this Swedish company nygardsanna.se and have since ordered a jacket from them directly..the postage was expensive, but it arrived promptly and I love it Smile. I prefer the more utilitarian Toast clothes and these clothes have a similar vibe. And although the nyardsanna clothes are expensive- probably more expensive than Toast- both the trousers and the jacket are very well made.

Saurus72 · 06/07/2020 11:55

Definitely need to wear a non-elasticated waistband, wfh proving disastrous for weight management 🙄

JulesJules · 06/07/2020 12:22

My Riya dress arrived, but it's going back. Although I love the colours, it just didn't look right on, the neckline was high and weirdly baggy, and the general shape was unflattering on me. Shame.

slipperyeel · 06/07/2020 13:11

My breen parka arrived, it’s lovely but is going back as it’s too tight across the shoulders. I wear a 10 or a 12 in toast but I would have needed a 14 in this.

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2020 17:47

So here's my last Toast bargain in this sale ( its meant to be the last , anyway!)
Short sleeve cotton linen jumper in Bone
From JL so a bargain at 37.50 👍

I ordered the velvet jumpsuit, it was crazy big

I am 6ft with wide hips, 12 stone, nothing petite about me... yet it was massively big, so much so I might need a size 10

But not sure I can be bothered

If they did free returns I’d buy a lot more of their stuff, but I already paid delivery and returns for the size 14 so may just cut my losses...

Countmeout · 06/07/2020 19:17

Back in from checking on my carrots .

I’m wearing my wrap cardigan it’s so light you’d hardly know you were wearing it.

I was awake at 4.30am (combination of insomnia, wriggly toddler and an horrific nightmare in which I was trying to protect my family from a random shooter in a shopping centre massacre. Anyone else having really intense dreams during lockdown?) Anyway, I logged on to the JL site (there’s something overwhelmingly reassuring and comforting about John Lewis, a bit like the poem, when I’m in a state of panic or distress) and ordered a Toast almond print shirt in black (was £95, down to £28.50) as I thought it would brighten up my black Jessa dungarees and I love the print which reminds me of mid-century graphics.

I’d love to stay on the thread to discuss our mutual love of Toast and perhaps pinpoint to other quality and heritage brands.

Has anyone here invested in a Toast throw (Ikat or silk velvet)? I’ve been contemplating replacing my sofa, which I purchased in the late 90s for an embarrassingly large sum of money but I honestly can’t find anything near as fantastic quality for an affordable/reasonable price, that is anywhere near as sumptuously comfortable. So now I’m considering a luxurious throw to primp my existing sofa - which has survived numerous children (my own and fostered) for another 25 years!

Moominmammaatsea · 06/07/2020 19:38

@Countmeout, Nantes, Nigel, Chantenay or Berlicum?

faustina · 06/07/2020 20:07

@Moominmammaatsea - wierd dreams a definitely a pandemic Thing - I read an article about it. I was also awake at a silly time this morning and saw that shirt - it's very nice!

I haven't bought a throw but have bedlinen and a blanket from Toast - all wonderful quality.

When I wanted to protect my new sofa from DS2 (adult but accident prone) I bought a fairly cheap linen sheet from Soak and Sleep in almost the same colour as the sofa and it did the job really well. Which throw are you thinking of?

Saurus72 · 06/07/2020 20:26

@Moominmammaatsea that was a brilliant spot this morning - I have the dress in the same print and it is truly beautiful. There was another tranche of return on JL earlier but nothing that I can really justify. Would really like the stripy 3/4 sleeve t-shirt if it comes back, it’s £32 on Toast - less than half price - but about £20 on JL.

Has anyone been to the Toast outlet shop at Kilver Court? Planning to take a trip in September if we can do it sensibly. Hoping for Archive sale style bargains - so I really need to save some money for that.

ilovecherries · 06/07/2020 20:43

I’ve been having terrible dreams then jerking awake gasping with my heart hammering. It’s horrible. Good spot on the shirt moomim.

Alsohuman · 06/07/2020 20:54

That’s a beautiful shirt, it’s got a real 1940s vibe. And £28.50!

My Kin parka arrived this morning and it’s going back, it’s just not me. Hopefully the replacement will work better when it arrives. I added these to get free delivery, I’m undecided, I wonder if the lightening flash is a bit too much.

Kilver Court TOAST is lovely. Been there a few times. Bit of a long way for me at about a 90 min drive but have a friend in Glastonbury so we meet there once or twice a year.
