@Laska2Meryls I’m in a similar situation. I’m not retired but have just completed a career change from an old corporate world of suits to a new far more smart/casual one where Toast style very much fits the bill. I’m able to dress as myself now!
Although work will be via Zoom for the foreseeable....

Moominmammaatsea · 03/07/2020 18:26

Laska, the grandad shirt looks like it’s one that will wash and wear and age beautifully. You’ve reminded me that I ‘loaned’ my mum a Toast pure Irish linen shirt about eight years ago (I can time it to the exact day because it was on a birthday) - you’ve inspired me to attempt to reclaim it. I hope you do really well with your eBaying so that the new shirt can earn its own keep!

Alsohuman · 03/07/2020 19:04

Oh @Moominmammaatsea, let her keep it! She obviously loves it or you’d have got it back long ago. The grandad shirt is lovely, it will age beautifully.

applecatchers36 · 03/07/2020 20:23

Agree with all 💯 that life at the moment can be pretty monochrome so any way to express yourself through clothes or mutual appreciation of clothes is much needed light relief in context of what we are dealing with. A bit of escapism and enjoyment is needed I feel !!

Railingsohno · 03/07/2020 20:54

Don’t feel we need to justify ourselves to any chippy comments. It’s lovely talking about clothes. Especially with all this crazy stuff going on! Love this thread. Particularly because Toast is such a unique brand. 💗 I always meet interesting people in the Toast shop!

Love the look of that Kin gingham dress. I've got one kin top, bought a couple of years ago in the sale for £14 I think. Agree about Hush, I've got harems from a couple of years ago, and a gorgeous skirt, but recently the fabric seems really thin. Still waiting for the Riya dress, hope the neckline won't be too high as I love the colours so much.

SpeedofaSloth · 03/07/2020 21:39

I just ordered a blouse and trousers from the Toast sale tonight, herringbone blouse and tapered trousers. It's nice to find a brand with so much natural fabrics, I just wish I could afford more.

Moominmammaatsea · 03/07/2020 22:25

@Alsohuman, OKAY, I hear you (said in the flouncy tone of my four-year-old). But, know this, I will now MOURN the loss of that gorgeously soft, perfectly washed-in linen shirt (that I had forgotten about for the past eight years). Grin

Countmeout · 04/07/2020 07:27

@ilovecherries sound like a good plan about the neck of the Anni dress.
I wish I had a John Lewis nearby to try more of kin, I fear they may ban me for returns too!
Re colours @AmethystMoonShine do you find it hard to determine the colours online though? Quite often things arrive and they are darker than they appear on the screen which can be a bit annoying.
I am not keen on a gathered skirt which they seem to do a great deal. Although for some reason the dresses seem to work.
So glad your grandad shirt is everything you hoped @Laska2Meryls, it looks like a wonderful buy even at full price. I think now some places have got become so expensive it’s a very little jump to Toast.
The one thing I probably will buy at full price (although have they not started a 15/20% off offer once early in the season) is a pair of Gabi trousers in a different colour , thinking Storm blue.

@Countmeout yes I do find I get a few surprises with Toast colours! I ordered the Lai print skirt last week thinking it would go well with a black top and an orange top I have. It arrived and it’s navy blue and the ‘white’ it are actually pale grey and the orange is much lighter than it appears on screen Hmm

Laska2Meryls · 04/07/2020 08:31

I nabbed a bone short sleeve linen jumper in JL , has anyone tried it?

Thanks everyone who loved my grandad shirt, I am really pleased with it. Count you are right about others getting Toast price point - Poetry for example - and luckily with the 15 %, it doesn't feel that bad. Sadly I don't ever seem to get the discount code email don't know why, that one was passed on to me by a friend ..

I have that, Laska, in both bone and cinnamon. I really like them both. Mine are mediums and are quite a loose fit.

@neveradullmoment99

Hello. Lurker here. Just marking the page :) I have a fair few Toast clothes. Love some of the new collection!!! I bought the oxford shirt dress in pale blue which I love! Have a feeling that it will never be reduced :( Not bought too much in the sale this year. I did get a bargain of the linen half sleeve on JL but a bit annoyed I missed quite a bit in their sale. I know they had the oxford pale blue shirt dress reduced but I was far too late for that and its never come back in as a return. Anyway, hope you don't mind me posting. I mostly lurk anyway!
@neveradullmoment99 What is the sizing like with the oxford dress? I am very tempted. I normally take a 12 in Toast but I worry this may swamp me.
neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 11:21

Take a size down. Its generous! If you are a small 12, you may even be able to get into the 8!
I am at the larger end of a 12 atm [ lockdown excesses!! and other family issues] and the 10 is good on me. I am a 32E in the bust if that helps.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 11:22

It is a beautiful dress.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 11:24

Whatever your normal size is [high street and not toast] size down. I could measure it for you?

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 11:25

I am a 12 but take a 10 in Toast sizes.

That's really helpful - I am also a 32E so sounds like a 10 is the way to go. Thank you!
Gonegrey31 · 04/07/2020 12:40

I have it in an 8 . I’m usually a 10 with other makes of clothing . Let me know if you’d like the measurements.
It’s a gorgeous dress, soft blue , my best purchase of the summer

simplificate · 04/07/2020 12:55

I've never been tempted by Hush but am liking some pieces on &daughter and Poetry sites, what's the quality like?
Just received my further reductions Toast order: chalkboard dress in black/yellow and Seth linen shirt. Both keepers! Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 13:58

OMG i love & daughter. Gorgeous gorgeous clothes. So like Toast too... not buying atm but some lovely things!!

Moominmammaatsea · 04/07/2020 13:58

simplificate, I have the Seth shirt (in white) from the JL Toast sale and I adore it; it’s such fantastic quality that I know it will be a wardrobe staple for many happy years to come. Enjoy!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 13:58

Thanks for that website. I haven't ever heard of it before.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 13:59

Only sale prices. The original price is Shock

neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2020 14:00
