Plus size what are you wearing today?

Hello!

There used to be a lovely what are you wearing today? thread(s) on here for people who were plus size (circa 16/18 and up I think).

Could anyone tell me if they've seen one lately please? If there isn't one on the go, would anyone be interested in joining me on here?

I'm size 16/18. Today I'm in a New Look floral dress and DM boots. Pic attached (hopefully).

Ah how lovely to get an unsolicited compliment Charlotte!

I love my kimono and find it really useful at the moment.

Here I am in the same shorts as yesterday and a top from Sainsbury's. I haven't shown my ankles, as they are all insect bites!

Meant to be another very hot one here today! I'm trying to convince my 2yo to go out but keep getting "noooooo" (new favourite word). I'm not 100% convinced about going out myself tbf.

Great legs @LadyPrigsbottom, even without the ankles Smile Is that top recent? It's very pretty.

My "standards" have completely slipped this week (couldn't you have asked last week when it wasn't a million degrees?!). Today I'm wearing last year's version of this dress. It's been in and out of the charity bag several times! I wouldn't wear it out of the house due to the horrid gaping armholes. But it's good for keeping cool.

What is it with sleeveless clothes - why do they all have massive armoholes? Is it just a plus size thing? They look hideous. Sometimes you can sew them up but sometimes it just doesn't work and you just end up with a deformed garment. Bah!

LadyPrigsbottom · 25/06/2020 15:42

Thanks StCharlotte! The top is quite old, sadly. Think I got it in the sale last autumn.

Love the dress! Yes, I always find arm holes don't quite fit in sleeveless dresses. I don't think it is a plus size issue tbh, as I'm sure I've always had this issue, except stretchy tank top things. The problem is if you're quite booby (as I am) and then I show side boob 😬😆.

Blue cotton culottes and black t-shirt. I would prefer a slightly more fitted and shorter t-shirt but I am away with work and the better t-shirt is at home. I love these culottes. They are wide and swingy.

[quote sonjadog]These are the dungarees. I have several pairs of them and also pinafores from the same seller. They cost a bit, but quality is good and I wear them a LOT.

How are they for sizing? If I was a 20 would I need the 2xl ?

sonjadog · 25/06/2020 19:05

Yes, I would think so, unless you want them fitted. I am 20/22 UK size, usually 20 American size and I use the 2XL and they are a relaxed fit, I would say. They would probably be relaxed/loose on you.

The measurements are in the listing and they are generally very accurate with size. Also the seller is really nice and helpful, so she can advise on size and fit is you are unsure.

Sadbadglad · 25/06/2020 19:08

Thank you Sonjadog. I am going to treat myself.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/06/2020 19:21

I remembered to take a photo today. Wore this hanky hem dress from Joe Browns (with of course my trusty chub rub shorts!) Much prefer dresses on this weather just wish they had slightly longer arms to cover my flabby bits but never mind!

@LadyPrigsbottom

I've recently bought a cotton and linen play suit from Asos, which is a similar top half to that jumpsuit Fenella and it looks super lightweight. It's due to arrive today, so hopefully I can wear tomorrow. Lord knows I don't want anything heavy weight at the moment. Goodness it's hot!
My play suit arrived and it looks vile on me sadly. Back to the shop it goes. I probably didn't need it anyway tbh and at least I got some rather fetching new face masks!

Lovely dress @EnglishGirlApproximately!

I'd love to wear a play suit but can't find any that suit me!

LuluJakey1 · 25/06/2020 19:26

@Wagsandclaws

I thought I'd add some photos of my 'best bits' before quarantine. It's nice to see plus size ladies styles, I love following some bloggers for that reason even though I'm late 40's now.

I was anywhere between a 22 and an 18 in these pics. One was my sons graduation, another a birthday party for a good friend, a shopping trip and lunch out ( what's that again!? )

I literally have no excuse to dress in anything other than comfy clothes now though.

You look great. I never looked that thin when I was that size. 😁
sonjadog · 25/06/2020 19:58

I hope you like the dungarees, Sadbadglad. I am very happy with the ones that I have!

I really like the colours of that dress, EnglishGirl.

VelvetSoft · 25/06/2020 20:00

So happy to see this thread resurrected! Size 18-20, working towards an 18 without the 20 Grin

Today I'm in loose fitting white linen look trousers from Asda, a bright pink loose fitting vest top and a flowery kimono if I'm out in the sun for longer than 20 seconds due to party Irish skin. I'm about as comfortable as it's possible to be in this heat when you're fat Grin

I'm aware I possibly look like a sack of spuds but as I've mostly been in pyjamas or joggers and t-shirts or paint stained decorating clothes, I'm better dressed than I have been since the start of lockdown.

buckeejit · 25/06/2020 21:11

Uch hello there now!

@teabaseddiet tell me more about the bootcut jeggings. Sounds ace

@wags - love your green coat? Is it a short sleeved coat?

@FenellaMaxwell I love leopard print a little too much but please tell me where that dress is from!

I will wear something tomorrow-I did wear a dress & some makeup today for the first time in yonks because I knew I'd see some real people. Lots of people commented favourably & I felt good 😀

FenellaMaxwell · 25/06/2020 21:24

@buckeejit the leopard shirt dress? It’s H&M but I’m afraid it’s last year’s.

FenellaMaxwell · 25/06/2020 21:25

@buckeejit also, in case you find one on eBay -
It comes up MASSIVE! I’m a size 18-20 and mine’s a 14!

namechangenumber2 · 25/06/2020 21:29

I wore a plain black T-shirt jersey dress from Yours today, usually totally out of my comfort zone but I'm not feeling 100% and couldn't face overheating! Anyway, it really grew on me so I'm going to get myself a couple more! I'm generally not a dress/skirts girl, can anyone recommend some chub rub shorts please? Ideally some I can get online?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/06/2020 21:34

Snag chub rub shorts are the best I've tried, they dont roll at all you can barely feel them. Tried some pretty polly ones they're really uncomfortable.

sonjadog · 25/06/2020 21:45

Are the snag ones cool in the summer? I have looked at them but thought if they were tights-material, they might be a bit sweaty?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/06/2020 21:48

I've been wearing them all day today not sweaty at all, can't recommend them highly enough. I have more on order I'm a big fan!

buckeejit · 25/06/2020 21:58

Thanks fenella - I know the h & m style dress, it's pretty shapeless on me & I think I actually tried it on once last year & discounted it.

I have a lindybop leopard dress in an 18 that is too tight on the bust but I really want to get into it before summer is out.

Chub rub shorts are the biz. I love snag but not tried the chub rubs. Apparently Asda little angels liquid talc is vg for rub. I have some from Evans that are ok & some cotton stretch ones from eBay I think that are fab

Makemeaname · 25/06/2020 22:08

Ooh @EnglishGirlApproximately how long is that Joe Browns dress? Looks nice but not sure I have the legs for it! Little bit taller than you but find it so hard to judge length from pictures.

MadamShazam · 25/06/2020 22:10

I'm a size 22-24, and today i wore a purple vest top with a pair of loose black harem trousers with multi colour swirly circles on them that I bought on holiday years ago.
