@LesLavandes I don't iron. Ever. Even though I probably should, sometimes!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 19/07/2020 19:45

@Wildernesstips love your dress - I used to have one very similar.
@LesLavandes I never iron anything. I don't buy anything that looks as if it would need ironing.

Top - Top Shop, jeans and cardigan M&S. I'll be more adventurous next weekend.

@LesLavandes I only iron if I have to we often give line dried clothes a quick tumble dry.

Lovely horse @Shannith like.evrything I've noticed way more choices and items for horse than there's used to be, my horse just had 2 rugs one for indoors one for outdoors and if it was really cold he wore both. Now there's so many my mind boggles Grin
I had horses for years and would even ride in jeans or shock horrow old leggings. I had an offer of exercising some horses before lockdown but not had chance to take them up on it yet. I have bought myself some jodhpurs in Lidl or Aldi a few months ago just need some boots I was thinking some of the country boots but they look wide to me and wondered if they might get stuck in the stirrups I'm not going to be riding that often so if someone has any value for money suggestions?

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/07/2020 20:37

Picture of my old boy I got him when I was 12 had him for 24/25 years and this is literally 5 mins before he was PTS don't think I'll ever connect with another horse like him. Silly old thing he'd got Cushing's and was a bit arthritic but still had moments of being the crazy brave horse I loved and that drove me mad that would jump a 5 bar gate because his mate was going in before him.

@Sickoffamilydrama he's gorgeous. Looks like he was a real dude.

In winter I ride in dubarrys. Pricy but comfortable enough to wear all day. I walk for miles and miles in them walking the dogs. Warm and waterproof!

Cost per wear is minuscule really. I have had mine over 8 years now and I don't particularly look after them. I've always felt safe riding in them and when I've (ahem) fallen off my foot has come out of the stirrups fine.

toastfiend · 20/07/2020 00:44

@Sickoffamilydrama your boy was very handsome. I know the feeling of thinking you'll never quite connect with another horse in the same way. I had to have my boy put to sleep in January this year. Missing him is like a physical pain sometimes. I dreamed he was still alive the other night and the realisation when I woke up was crushing. I never felt that attached to the little mare I had until recently. I liked her, but she wasn't him, and sometimes I'm not sure if I want to go back to horse ownership again if I can't have him. I'm sure I will, they've been part of my life since I was 3, but I don't think another horse will ever quite fill his shoes. Here he is on the beach - showcasing the worst of my 'riding attire' with Topshop jeans and some random snow boots from Costco... 😂

Boots wise, I have and love Ariats (my Bromonts fell apart, but the Heritage boots and gaiters are good), but they're only really worth it if you're riding plenty. I wouldn't recommend Dublin River boots (knock off Dubarry!) They sag and collapse down your leg v quickly. My old workplace wouldn't let people ride in Dubarry's as they don't have much of a heel, but I have in the past on my own horses. Saxon boots are ok if you're not riding often and don't mind them being synthetic. They're inexpensive and perfectly acceptable, lots of our clients used to buy them for the yard competitions as they looked OK and weren't too pricey.

I have dubarrys which I treated myself to a few years back. I find in those for winter and also use them for walking. I’m currently wearing a pair of Tuffa johdpur boots. (Well for riding not currently - am in bed currently) these are great.

Sooverthemill · 20/07/2020 09:18

Can’t add any horse clothing wisdom but your horse looked like a lovely old boy @Sickoffamilydrama. My late FIL had horses and the whole family was devastated when Magic age 32 died. DH has ridden him as a teen and I have photos of baby DD on him.

I’m wearing my pink Levi’s today as the weather isn’t great. I cut them off
Too: Fwp by Rae
Jeans: Levi 501 made and crafted

Don’t weekends go quickly? I have relatively few meetings this week, so I’m hoping to actually get some work done. Since I don’t have to appear on video at all today I’ve gone for comfortable casual.

He's lovely 😍 @toastfiend looks like dubarrys are the favourites if you can walk in them then they will be great for winter walking as well 😁

Got an important video call today but as they can only see my top half I'm not ironing this dress, wearing the cardi until it warms up.

Love the jumper @OublietteBravo & that outfit is great @Sooverthemill I live near a Levi's outlet I might go buy a pair come autumn.

itssquidstella · 20/07/2020 09:46

I like your slogan T-shirt, @Sooverthemill.

I'm keeping it casual this morning as we're driving back to London from Devon, but it's our first wedding anniversary today so I'll post a picture of my outfit when we go out for dinner later 😊

Welcoming the sunshine with Sunflowers today (even if I do usually prefer the winter... 😂)

Top - Boden
Dungarees - Lucy & Yak

Torn between swapping these dungarees for the same in a smaller size so they're more flattering, but the comfort of them being baggy makes it tempting to keep these ones...

Ellapaella · 20/07/2020 11:02

Love all the horsey pics... I used to love riding when I was younger, would have been my dream to own my own horse.
Keep meaning to introduce my DC to it, my 9 year old is desperate for some lessons.

@toastfiend can't see a pic attached?

I'm wearing my new Sezane blouse which I love. This was the last of my archive purchases and probably one of my favourites so far.

Shannith · 20/07/2020 11:10

@toastfiend wow what a beauty. I can see why you loved him so much.

It's taken my quite some time to click with my mare but we are getting there. She's a typical mare and I was being a wuss. She's a sweetheart once she knows she can't try it on and get away with it.

@ememem84 I've got Tuffa jodhpur boots to ride in but I can't walk more than a few hundred meters in them before they rub.

I'm going to treat myself to a nice pair of long boots for my riding holiday day with DD in August. Veering towards Ariats.

@Sooverthemill the jeans look great! Excellent chopping skills.

@sickoffamily drama that's a lovely bright outfit. I love how you wear colour.

@itssquidstella happy wedding anniversary. Really nice top too.

Taking DD to the skate park again and possibly to see a pony for her to share. 13.2 so I might get away with sneaking on occasionally.

Spasandstripes · 20/07/2020 12:04

So many lovely outfits. I’m meeting a friend for a picnic. This was a bargain skirt-£10 from £70 from a local gift shop getting rid of its clothing rail. The vest top is next, necklace Alex Monroe bee office flip flops.

@spas what a fab skirt

Moonfacebiggins · 20/07/2020 16:16

Love those sunflower dungas @toastfiend I would keep them or sell them to me! I'm WFH so wafting around in Zara maxi skirt and an old white vest top I've knotted

Moonfacebiggins · 20/07/2020 16:17

@Spasandstripes love the skirt. It really suits you and it has a pocket!!! I love skirts and dresses with pockets they make me stupidly happy

RickOShay · 20/07/2020 16:28

Lovely skirt @Spasandstripes
In a dress today, but getting chilly.
Shown the back as it’s the best bit.
