I thought it might be good to have a thread for alternatives for those who have ditched the BS.

Even better if we could recommend small independent businesses.

I loved their Chamomile cleansing butter/balm so need to find a replacement if anyone has any ideas.

I've just ordered some MooGoo shampoo and conditioner to move away from the ginger.

Reviews are great, fingers crossed it's a winner. Looks like a nice brand.

I've used LJ Naturals homemade products before. She created products for her own skin as she has excema. I started out with a hand lotion and the used her scratchy balm on my daughters molloscum. She has shampoos, skin care, and very much into ethical products and reusable/recycled products. I don't know her personally, but would recommend.

Notthisnotthat · 17/06/2020 21:45

She has a website and is on Facebook.

If anyone is looking for vegan makeup I believe Tarte is all vegan. Their shape tape concealer is AMAZING.

Sexnotgender · 17/06/2020 21:46

Also this range gets good reviews- amaranthinebeauty.com/

Cismyfatarse1 · 17/06/2020 21:57

MooGoo has totally cured my dandruff and eczema on my neck and scalp. It is miles better than the Ginger Shampoo and I switched ages ago but am sad about all the Body Shop grapefruit and Shea ranges as I love these.

At the risk of blatant self promotion, I have just started a little soap business. All vegan. Search for Rebel Diamond on fb & Instagram. My online shop is going live this weekend. Just soap bars at the moment but I have plans Grin

AHF1975 · 17/06/2020 22:30

Also looking for alternatives to the Aloe cleanser/toner. I will never buy from them again.

RubberDinghyRapids · 17/06/2020 22:41

Someone on another thread suggested the M&S rose balm cleanser as a swap for the camomile cleanser. I'll be trying that one next.

For eye makeup remover, I still haven't found anything more cost effective or reliable than plain old baby lotion on cotton wool.

FreddoFrogAddict · 17/06/2020 23:12

Thanks for this thread. Reading with interest.

HyggeTygge · 17/06/2020 23:39

I really need a dupe for the coconut shower cream! It's soap-free and so creamy, it's perfect for shaving legs etc. Made with coconut oil but not actually oily feeling at all.
Doesn't actually need to smell of coconuts.

Sousone · 17/06/2020 23:44

Is body shop closing?? Shock

RightOnTheEdge · 17/06/2020 23:48

Sousone no some women are boycotting over their treatment of JK Rowling on Twitter and calling women "people who menstrate"

LindaLovesCake · 17/06/2020 23:49

I’ve bought a M&S body butter today so I’ll be giving that a go. It’s lemon but they had a few in the Simply Food shop so might have even more in the actual shop.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 18/06/2020 01:12

I rather like Friendly Soap. AFAIK they’re all vegetarian/ vegan. Nice simple packaging. Minimal nasty chemicals, aka it’s “proper soap”. I like the shampoo bars, soap bars & shaving bars.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 18/06/2020 01:16

@sousone JKR recently disclosed that she had previously been the victim of physical & sexual abuse in a relationship; the BS response was to send her a bath bomb & tell her she should read more about the disprivilege of trans women.

OneOfTheGrundys · 18/06/2020 01:17

Faith in Nature here.
I order the 5l bottles and we swap the pumps over.
The coconut shampoo and conditioner and the orangey shower gel are great.

OneOfTheGrundys · 18/06/2020 01:18

And team JK here too.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/06/2020 01:18

Ginger shampoo has been the best ever thing for DDs long, curly, dry ends but greasy scalp hair. Any recommendations as a good alternative?

Sousone · 18/06/2020 11:36

Ah thank you both.
