I thought it might be good to have a thread for alternatives for those who have ditched the BS.

Even better if we could recommend small independent businesses.

I loved their Chamomile cleansing butter/balm so need to find a replacement if anyone has any ideas.

I have had various brilliant things from green people https://www.greenpeople.co.uk/.

MoltoAgitato · 17/06/2020 08:37

Lush is anti woman too, so they’re out.

Another vote for Faith in Nature. I would love an alternative for the pink grapefruit and satsuma shower gels though.

Inspiralcarpetry · 17/06/2020 09:03

I love the Satsuma and Pink Grapefruit range too but am also disgusted by the whole 'people who menstruate' nonsense. If anyone knows of shower gels and body lotions with a real pop of citrus, that would be great.
I've tried a Faith in Nature soap (orange) and for me, it didn't have that forceful citrus burst.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 17/06/2020 09:07

I use a lot of faith in nature too. You can refill the bottles so they're eco friendly, and all natural and vegan.

MrsKingfisher · 17/06/2020 11:56

Faith in Nature shampoo is lovely, it's not as luxurious because it doesn't contain silicones and I do need a conditioner afterwards but my hair is in really good condition now. Really soft and has a nice shine to it.

I'm about to try the KinKind shampoo bar so will report back!

Not the same as the BS yogurt body moisturiser but the Cerave one is good slap it on and get dressed I hate having to wait for stuff to sink in so this works for me.

I'm looking for small independent brands to support too.

This might be a decent replacement for the satsuma and grapefruit

@LorenzoVonMatterhorn

Loads of flavours in Asda. Not sure asda should be getting our business now either!

I need alternative make up that is vegan and not a MLM scheme. Any ideas?

I think Revolution make up is vegan
LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 17/06/2020 13:17

Oh thats interesting. Thank you.

violetgrey · 17/06/2020 14:40

May I recommend Le Petite Marseilles shower gels to those of you looking for fruity and herby scents? The lemon verbena scent is my favorite for summer. I like their solid soaps too.

022828MAN · 17/06/2020 14:51

Would really appreciate any recommendations for similar body sprays / perfumes if anyone knows of any!

Inspiralcarpetry · 17/06/2020 15:13

Thanks for the suggestions, that Kinkind looks like what I'm after - kind of a Tango slap to the face for my shower gel/soap!
For the Q about perfumes, I really rate Shay and Blue. I like Black Tulip, but they also do citrus and fruity scent. Small British company, free delivery, think they're vegan too. I tried the Watermelon scent and that was delish for summer. Blood Oranges is nice too.

LauraChant · 17/06/2020 15:16

The tea tree face wash and the Vitamin E face cream, would love some alternatives for those please.

MrsKingfisher · 17/06/2020 15:50

I love green peoples zap and clear serum it really works for any outbreaks I have

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/06/2020 15:59

I've also bought grapefruit essential oil to put in plain unscented shower gel because that's one of my favourite products from there.

Genius. I just bought two, before the debacle, so I won't need to swap any time soon.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 17/06/2020 16:13

I need alternatives for the aloe vera face creams please. My skin is super super sensitive and almost everything else irritates it, including Simple.

Also, a non-oily eye makeup remover?

For the pp who was asking about citrus shower gels - I really liked the Original Source ones, lime, lemon and mandarin. They are paraben free and not animal tested. I've used bars of soap for years now though.

Apileofballyhoo · 17/06/2020 16:22

Child's Farm do some fruity smelling washes and shampoos.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/06/2020 16:26

REN is good. More expensive, but lasts a long time. Also Dr Hauschka. Weleda excellent too.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/06/2020 16:32

Also Urketram ( sold in health shops and online) make good, eco friendly shampoos.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 17/06/2020 17:00

www.apothecaryoils.co.uk/

This brand is delicious.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/06/2020 19:11

Oh yes I totally agree with Trout apothecary are fab.

ChequerBoard · 17/06/2020 19:42

Wondering if this might be a good alternative to the fruity body washes? Lots of different options to choose from in this range.

JASON Revitalising Citrus Body Wash

jarviscockatiel · 17/06/2020 20:51

A cheapy fruity alternative is the Wilko range. I think it's called Fruits

lakeswimmer · 17/06/2020 20:56

Another Ginger Shampoo fan here - it really helps stop my scalp getting flaky. I've been using if for 30 years! I also use Faith in Nature products so will be trying out a few more things from their range

lakeswimmer · 17/06/2020 21:01

I think I'll also try this company www.purelakes.co.uk which is local to me.
