How much has your hair grown in lockdown?

Just a bored musing really. I had my hair cut 2 weeks before lockdown started and I cannot believe how much it has grown! I’m considering growing it back, it used to be very long.

My eyebrows are well on the way to being something they resembled before the 90’s too 🤣😂

How is everybody else fairing?

I got my husband to cut the bottom off!

MummyGoingItAlone · 10/06/2020 15:07

I shaved my own undercut and buggered it up 😂🤣

Mine is like yours originally shorter by a good inch and now same length I normally have it cut every four weeks and like yourself was cut mid February.

thefamousfiveplusone · 10/06/2020 15:16

That is lovely bob you had cut. So sleek and stylish.

I've not had a haircut in months and months AND literally more months. I've made an appointment for 8th July and I cannot wait!! It's far too long and ratty now.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 10/06/2020 15:20

I normally have a (very short) pixie cut and have it done every 5 weeks. I had it done a few days before lockdown.

What was a 30 second towel tussle in the morning has become a 20 minute fart about with a brush and a hairdryer to tame it into submission. And it still looks shit Grin I now have to sweep it all back and tuck it behind my ears.

The only godsend is that I've never bothered with colouring it so I don't have any roots to deal with.

StCharlotte · 10/06/2020 15:30

Mine was a short layered cut - last cut end of January. Now It's like your first picture. There was a flicky out bottom layer at the back (like a mid 90's "Rachel") but I trimmed that last weekend. Huge improvement.

Preoilai · 10/06/2020 15:44

Your hair is lovely, I think it looks great longer and you should definitely grow it!

Mine is just a long frizzy mess. But it was before lockdown too. I’ve hacked at my fringe a couple of times but other than that I’ve done nothing to it.

Thecazelets · 10/06/2020 16:35

Almost none at all. Am very disappointed. Highlights seem to have grown out a bit, but it doesn't seem to have increased in length at all. It's about six months since my last cut as my 10 week appt for a trim and half-head highlights was cancelled on the day of lockdown. Meanwhile DH & DS's hair has grown like grass Envy.

Ineedtobecalm · 10/06/2020 17:12

Honestly I was just comparing selfies for this reason! About 2.5 inches, however I've been taking kelp tablets.

I also had the grotty over bleached ends trimmed off just before lockdown and told the hairdresser I was going to try and grow it. She advised me to try and leave 12 weeks before my next trim, funny how things turn out eh?

YouStupidBoy · 10/06/2020 19:31

I have gone from a hair cut like the attached (clearly not me!!!) to it being about the length of your "before" OP. My fringe is now midway down my nose as it was due a cut two or so days after lockdown began, so I now wear it clipped back all the time (luckily it suits me so I don't look too unkempt!!). Can't wait for a nice sharp cut again though!!

I've cut about 4 inches off mine. I'd just summoned up the courage to go to the hair dresser when lockdown started and I ran out of patience.

Jocasta2018 · 10/06/2020 20:09

It's grown so long my split ends have split ends...

Pipandmum · 10/06/2020 20:10

I can tell by my roots. Holding off colouring it as figure the Tesco guy doesn't care. I have curly hair so the fact it's a bit longer is ok. My son normally has a number two cut and now looks like a surfer dude! Mu daughters hair is waist length so looks good - she only cuts it a couple times a year anyway.

CatBatCat · 10/06/2020 20:16

Not enough. I've been growing out the pixie for months and just before lockdown I had it cut at the back so it's at least even and not so mullet like but waiting for the length to come in feels like it's taking forever. Its just too short to tie it up but it's getting on my nerves in my face all the time.

woodhill · 10/06/2020 20:17

Grey roots and more my hair has definitely grown.

Shame it doesn't grow at the ends instead

Vinorosso74 · 10/06/2020 20:23

Mine is almost the length I would like. I have some layers which I want to grow out. The ends aren't in a good way though, last had it cut in November, was going to get a cut in March but never got around to it.

Cheesypea · 10/06/2020 20:33

Ive been growing out a crop. its been handy not to go out the house in the awkward between stage. Its now a somewhat triangle shaped bob. Ive ordered some thinning scissors im trying to hold out till september to get my hair cut.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 10/06/2020 20:56

Mine was a pixie, now almost down over my ears! I used to get it cut every 4 weeks and last had it cut early March. I have found that the more I mess about and try to style it the worse it looks.

I have coloured it so my highlights have gone but I dread to think what it will look like in another month. I am seriously thinking of growing it out though now I have got this far!

Bella2020 · 10/06/2020 23:05

Mine seems to be growing outwards as well as down, it's so thick. It's become so heavy that it barely holds a curl any more, too. I am looking forward to an appointment when my salon reopens, though it feels like nothing will ever reopen here in Scotland just now!

lotusbell · 10/06/2020 23:07

Same as @Bella2020! Quite a bit lengthwise, far too much outwards. Get me in that chair!

Gammeldragz · 10/06/2020 23:10

Mine was about 4 inches below my shoulders, getting straggly and split endy so I cut it off to just above my shoulders. Doesn't look too bad, everyone at work was really impressed! I started with a ponytail method and tidied it up by snipping at it...

Rumtopf · 10/06/2020 23:16

Going by my grey roots mine grows about an inch a month, however it's falling out rather a lot so who knows how much I'll have left by the end of all of this!

Alicatz66 · 10/06/2020 23:22

Mine was a white blonde pixie type cut .. done every 6 weeks .. it has been breaking though and must be because of bleach. It's hideous now though .. last cut was 12 Feb .. has anyone ever managed to nurse broken hair back to health !!! .. can't wait to get it cut . But think the bleach blonde may have to go ... super sad

Cheesypea · 10/06/2020 23:31

^ condition condition condition and stay away from the heat 66.

Cocolapew · 10/06/2020 23:31

A surprising amount, for me. I've been growing out a pixie cut. I've chopped at the back and fringe but left the rest alone
