MrsLorenson, my Waft from the Loft is the EDP so supposedly the more incensey one, but it doesn’t feel like a churchy incense to me. It’s friendly rather than austere.

PearsMorgan · 12/09/2020 08:04

I’m lining up some fresh things to wear next week for the hot spell before putting them away for the winter! All the miller harrises I’ve got including a last drop of figue amere. I preferred their old stuff, the new ones all seem very powdery?

Might use that as an excuse to get some more winter things. I loved by the fireplace after a while - not my usual thing but the chestnut takes the edge off the sweetness. Have dropped hints about various tauers for my birthday, husband came up with beyond Rose last year so I have high hopes. I’m going back to the office soon - just as it all kicks off again apparently - and will have to tone down the cloud I’ve been trailing round recently.

I want to go to a shop and spray some stuff. Or an airport! I like solo airport shopping.

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 12/09/2020 08:34

I think the perfume subscription business model is definitely going to increase its share of the market. Masks and physically shopping for perfume don't seem to go well together (reluctant to say the M word given the total bunfight that seems to be the rest of MN atm) Also aren't lipsticks the go to item for women when the economy tanks (wasn't one of us very knowledgable about that?) but maybe people are buying less these days - stand corrected about matte, sadly they don't seem to suit me, even Pillow Talk makes me look more dead than usual. I'm quite liking Elizabeth Arden 8hr tinted balms as my lips are so dry and the colour stays for ages.

Tarts Knicker Drawer reminds me of Misia (or is it the other way round) as the violet seems to be such a dominating note for both of them. Had high hopes for Misia as a bit of a fan of Misia Sert but I don't like having to wait hours for a good dry down, I am far too impatient.

Fire sounds terrifying one I think I missed that, are you at home or had to move out?

Apparently the sun is going to stage a weak last ditch attempt to shine next week. I am not holding my breath. In the very warm weeks of initial lockdown I constantly wore a decant of Tom Ford Blue Agave (and something else). Loved it but now fear it will just remind me of that time - does anyone else have that with particular perfumes? Eg Shalimar is always always Christmas to me.

No SOTD yet, still in my PJs Blush

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 12/09/2020 08:41

Ooh meant to the say the Zara pastry one sounds lovely, does anyone remember we all bought a similar sounding something a while back - little square bottles, very good value? Something to do with cakes or a bakery?

(My memory is appalling and getting worse, please excuse me if I repeat myself, I feel sorry for my poor family stuck in the house with me repeating myself and asking them the same questions five minutes later. I'm like a beautifully scented version of everyone's Great Aunt Ethel at Christmas dinner)

teta · 12/09/2020 09:17

I feel the same way about the newer Miller Harris perfumes @PearsMorgan. Lyn Harris had such a way with citrus scents.
Sotd will be Atelier des ors Riviera Drive. Did I say I now have one of the beautiful heavyweight carved blue bottles with genuine gold sparkles 😁.
Oh yes, I'm probably repeating myself ....
@Calmasasleepycat your Mona Di orio Musk is the only Musk I enjoy in cooler wintry weather.
@FloofyAndYetFragrant yes, I do,
sort of. I have seasonal perfumes . I wear Aedes De venustas in autumn because it's fresh, but has autumnal hazelnuts and incense and Wrappings later on nearer to Xmas because of its piney woody notes. I put all my summer perfumes away, at the same time as my summer clothes. I love doing this as I gain a dressing table piled with new perfumes again.

QueenPaws · 12/09/2020 13:00

SOTD Versace woman which was a boots £16 bargain! Bringing back many memories of university Grin

Boglins · 12/09/2020 13:46

Happy Saturday all! I'm semi-MIA at the moment as I'm pretty Eeyore-like at the moment so haven't really got much to contribute. Well, nothing positive anyway!

I'm going to have to go to the post office in the next week or so, who was I sending my perfume parlour Nahema dupe to? Please can you PM me your address and I'll get it sent.

Sorry to hear about your fire One, that's terrible, hope everything gets sorted with minimal stress now.

MrsLorenson · 12/09/2020 14:41

Nice to see you Boglins.

Yoikes and Calm - nothing Wafty in the post today. The suspense is killing me Grin.

SotD #1 is Saville Row (the Richard James one). This is a fabulous floral suede with an aromatic green opening. #2 is an Aldi Rose, which is smelling a bit too much of bug spray today. Might be about to be relegated to room spray status...

yoikes · 12/09/2020 14:56

It'll arrive soon I'm sure x I think you'll like it. It's lovely.

Sotd 4160 ESSOTPE which is just right for today as it's a bit muggy here.

I've cleaned the interior of my car and cleaned the house as dh and dc are up at pils helping them decorate.

I'm desperate for a eufy robovac...I have arthritis in my spine and hoovering hurts
Ugh. Any of you smell ones got one?

I would adore the bloom year discovery pack for xmas...have any of you got it?
Its a bit £££ though :)

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/09/2020 16:37

floofy at home, the fire was thankfully contained to one room so the rest of the house is fine but that one room has to be totally gutted, everything from the flooring to the plaster on both the ceiling and walls and everything in between. Its a real mess.

No SOTD today, felt a bit sickly when i got up and soemtimes adding scent in actually makes me sick so i decided to wait until the sickliness cleared up. Will probably stick one of the few Vera Wang Princess bottles ive got on in a bit, they are nice but inoffensive

PearsMorgan · 12/09/2020 17:20

@yoikes no but I’ve got a roomba. We need a new one and compared the eufy but it didn’t match it for reasons that husband explained and I didn’t listen to. Anyway I wouldn’t be without a roomba now. Also just got a shark upright lift off which is like a feather compared to the dyson we had before so may be worth a look.

@FloofyAndYetFragrant yes - for me
Mojave ghost is mainly a winter perfume because I first smelled it in February.

@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack sorry to hear about your fire and I imagine not a nice smell either

SOTD is anima vinci oud delight and I was going to ask for some more entry level oud recommendations until Instagram reminded me the Ffern will be with us in a couple of weeks. Apparently smells like petrichor.

FloraMacDonald · 12/09/2020 18:18

Ealing Green for me today, which is a lovely fresh fragrance. Apart from possibly this, I'm not after any more 4160s, too many of them just smell like lemon sherbet to me.

I quite fancy the Bloom unisex box. I also noticed the new perfume society box is unisex (or Sharing, as they call it. As if!) but I didn't recognise anything in the box. I don't want any more samples at the moment, I've nearly worked my way through all of mine and would prefer to hold out for some full bottles now.

yoikes · 12/09/2020 18:31

Yes, I'd go for the unisex one too :)

I'm determined no more perfume society boxes...I've had some lovely stuff but 80% go to mum/sister/niece...

FloraMacDonald · 12/09/2020 18:40

Oh I've missed loads of messages. I'll try to catch up later.

yoikes · 12/09/2020 19:15

Did I ever show you my blue hair??

The Lovely Friendly Perfumistas may not be going anywhere, but they still smell AMAZING! It’s thread 26!
PearsMorgan · 12/09/2020 19:23

@yoikes very nice!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/09/2020 20:08

SOTD Jo Malone Wood Sage. floofy that was me - “the lipstick effect”! But I did read somewhere that lipstick sales had tanked because of masks, so maybe not this time. The same article - maybe in the Guardian? - said makeup and perfume sales are right down because of WFH too.

Nice hair, yoikes!

one I really hope things get sorted for you soon.

Hello! I’d like to join please! I was researching some today and this thread came up so here I am. They were Frederick Malle Musc Ravageur and Chanel Coromandel. I dropped my son off at uni today so needed a distraction Blush

GreekYogurtWalnuts · 12/09/2020 22:37

Oh ok so today I wore Estée Lauder knowing. It’s a scent I first wore when I was probably too young probably around 19/20? Am 48 now. Also I recently bought a bottle of relaunched Estée Lauder spellbound. I remember when this was compared to Dior
Poison - a love or hate! I’m pleased to say that I love the relaunched version and actually got 2 compliments; an amazing feat seeing as I only ventured as far as the greengrocers and office! (Of a socially distanced total of 4 people!)

yoikes · 12/09/2020 22:39

greek
EL knowing is one of my favourites...must get my vintage bottle out once the weather gets colder again.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/09/2020 21:07

SOTD Tauer Carillon - the very last drops. I went to a bar today for a glass of wine, for the first time since March!

OP posts:
teta · 13/09/2020 21:26

@Judystilldreamsofhorses did you enjoy it?. Have your restrictions been lifted? My nephew was dropped off for the first time at Glasgow uni today. I don’t know how freshers will be this year - definitely different!
Welcome to the thread @GreekYogurtWalnuts.
Sotd is Fleur du matin for ‘ silaging’ my lawn . The grass was so long the motor kept cutting out. Then I got fed up, so have the other half to do tomorrow .
Cool hair @yoikes.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/09/2020 22:07

Yes, teta, a few weeks ago now. I met a friend for coffee and he suggested we go for a drink afterwards. It was fine, restricted numbers, everything spaced out, contact details on arrival, and app/table service. The barmaid said it is wild though, because they only allow customers a two-hour slot, so people get as much alcohol in as they can. We just had one drink, but I was conscious a lot of trays of shots were flying about!

Are Glasgow doing face to face? My place have done a u-turn and while I was going to be in one day a week (one morning, one afternoon) it is now going to be 100% remote delivery since cases are rising.

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/09/2020 22:09

(That was 5pm that people were tanking shots.)

Having a civetty night tonight. La Nuit (Paco Rabanne) civet, musk and honey (somewhere between Diva and Paloma Picasso), and VC&A's Gem, another 80s powerhouse. Someone describes the latter as the lovechild of Femme and Kenzo's Elephant (think softly animalic plum chypre with cardamom), which perhaps explains why I am so fond of it. Smile
