Hello, I've been lurking for a while and you're all inspiring me with the autumnal chat! @teta I have a sample of Tobacco Rose which I've been using sparingly, trying to put off the inevitable full bottle purchase...

I used to think of myself as a fully-paid-up perfumista, but lost my way during lockdown for some reason. The past few months have pretty much been: trusty Chanel 19 on repeat, splashes of cheap cologne during the heatwave, and sometimes - gasp - nothing.

This chill in the air and "back to school" feeling is making me want to dig into my collection again and also discover something new. Just ordered a discovery set from Francesca Bianchi. Does anyone know this house?

No, don't know that house Uno. And Papillon are in my blind spot too, chiefly because my internet 'child safe' filter won't let me access their site (I think it blocks anything to do with tobacco!).

I'm having a pine day today - needed something invigorating and uplifting after a stressful week. SotD #1 is Yatagan (everyone needs some of this) and Encens Flamboyant is SotD #2. I didn't realise the latter would be all about the pine from the descriptions I read, but I like the woody sparseness. Both these perfumes make me think about cleansing fires and renewal.

Uno - although I have just read some very intriguing references to FB's house style on some of ClaireV's blog posts.

My 4160 waft from the loft came today! With a sample of a walk in the woods which I adore.
I LOVE it 💜
Its beautifully deep. I got the EDP.
Sotd 4160 extra SSOTPE - I shall be having a bath later and putting waft on 💜

@MrsLorenson yes the FB scents sound really interesting, looking forward to having a sniff. Which is ClaireV's blog? (forgive my ignorance!)

My wish for new perfumes has been granted - I've been given a small vintage bottle today by a relative of DH's. "Memoire Chérie" by Elizabeth Arden - don't know how old it is but it's turned very dark and syrupy with age. A tiny dab reveals a mossy, animalic chypre. Feel like I should be swaddled in vintage furs.

In need of comforting smells today; Eau My Soul is hitting the mark, (as are cups of hot tea), White Queen less so. Off for a walk now...

I'm wearing Atelier des Ors Nuda Veritas today. A sheer osmanthus - tinted skin scent that's just beautiful. Now I want a bottle of this.
I'm not sure who everyone is now due to all the name changes ☺️.

Comfort for me today too: sotd Miller Harris Fleur Oriental. It's a bit Shalimar-lite but I don't think that's a bad thing. I love the spicy carnation.

MrsLorenson I hope you have a better week coming up. Perfume can be very comforting in difficult times, I find.

SOTD was ELDO Remarkable People. It has a delicious champagne opening, followed by soft spices. There is apparently a curry note in there!

L’Attesa by Masque Milano is Sotd.
It’s the most beautiful shimmering delicate Iris perfume I’ve ever smelt. I was sent lots of samples from this particular eBay seller, of Atelier des ors & Masque Milano with my bottle purchase. I can heartily recommend them.

Well, ds2 has been in school for 7 days and just had to go and pick him up as he's poorly :(
Nasty head cold.
No temp or cough though.

teta we just started classes today. I'm at home delivering remote learning 3/4 of the time. Quite daunting with brand new first years!

All this talk of an autumn chill! It’s 32 degrees here and likely to stay that way for the next week at least. So SOTD was 4160 Swann. Excellent light fragrance for a hot day.

Good to see you MrsS - I remember thinking Swann was lovely. The leaves are starting to fall here.
