Very best wishes for Friday flora xx

I'm hoping to go back next month 🙏

teta · 26/08/2020 17:41

😂 @FloraMacDonald . The very best of luck for your op.
@Yoikes sorry you feel down. I will be doing a little dance of joy when mine all go back . I'm fed up of months of moody stroppy teenagers ( although I love them dearly ) .Two of mine have online schooling for the first two weeks so it's going to be a while.

MrsPerks · 26/08/2020 18:54

Also just about 'here' but distracted by house stuff. Good luck on Friday. Yoikes Flowers.

Riviera Drive sounds very snazzy, Teta.

Am mainly smelling of L'Artisan Ambre home fragrance, lavender Zoflora, Flash bathroom bleach spray, and Method almond floor polish, all at once Grin.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/08/2020 19:42

I’m here! SOTD Diptyque Eau Duelle.

Good luck, flora, and 💐 for *.

Our local lockdown is OVER, so we went for coffee and cake this afternoon. First time I have eaten or drank anything outside this house since March!

He had a great day thank you.

I'm watching X men: Dark phoenix.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 26/08/2020 21:38

all i smell of is fire Sad we had a housefire at the weekend. Thankfulyl contained to one room and no one was hurt but utterly terrifying all the same. Not int he mood for perfume right now as nothing is going to cover up the smell of the smoke Sad

FloraMacDonald · 26/08/2020 22:18

Goodness One how scary. Glad you're all ok. Not sure if this really works, but apparently onions get rid of the smell of smoke. It might be worth a try.

yoikes · 27/08/2020 16:09

omg one we had a small fire last year. The smell!! It's horrid. So glad you're all OK.
Take care x

Sotd little lace dress 👗

I'm so, so tired. Like proper fatigue. Ugh.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/08/2020 23:27

Bloody hell, one, really glad you’re okay. My mum had a kitchen fire when I was a child, and my neighbour actually put it out before it spread, but it still remains one of the things I fear most.

SOTD Liz Earle 15.

Someone I vaguely know walked by me on.the Street earlier today and stopped me to ask what perfume I was wearing as I "smelt lovely" :)

It was pp by the fireplace. Love this stuff!

teta · 28/08/2020 17:32

Wearing lemony incensey Hinoki . The weather's definitely changed . It's too cold to wear my sparkly Riviera Drive 🌧️*@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack* I'm glad you're all safe 🙏.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/08/2020 23:33

SOTD MMM Fireplace. It definitely feels like autumn is here.

teta · 30/08/2020 09:33

I'm wearing Riviera Drive again. It's a chilly but beautifully sunny day here 🌞. I've just ordered several more samples of the Atelier Des Ors range as they're getting a lot of love on Facebook sites. I've also found a sample set on the Perfume Society website but it's not necessarily the ones I want to try.

yoikes · 30/08/2020 14:16

Hi 👋
Sotd pp by the fireplace.
I have a problem (a very 1st world one!)
I'm boycotting lush and the body shop for their stance on TWAW and their support of hateful TRAs.
So...who do you buy your skincare/body care stuff from?
Not to spendy but will pay more if its really nice/eco friendly.
I've spent 2 hours scrubbing the bathroom.
Rock n roll!

MrsPerks · 30/08/2020 21:53

Korres for bodycare (especially the violet), Yoikes, random TK Maxx finds for skincare.

SotD #1 vintage Opium, #2 vintage Shalimar. I smell gorgeous Grin.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/08/2020 23:12

SOTD Kiehl’s Musk.

yoikes I buy most stuff from Boots. I haven’t set foot in Lush in years, the smell makes me heave, and the only thing I ever get from BS is the hemp hand cream.

Lotsofpots · 31/08/2020 09:41

Ahhh yoikes this is my specialist subject.

Eco friendly:

  • evolve skincare
  • nathalie bond
  • nut and noggin shampoo bar
  • moogoo (for face, body, hair). Not plastic free but huge bottles so last for literally a year. This is holy grail brand for me

Great but not sustainability focussed:

  • beauty pie. Brilliant skincare and body stuff. And they do perfume...
-lixir skin. Expensive but amazing facial skin care.

I still have some lush shampo bars so haven't fully investigated alternatives, but think I'll explore this next: bain-savon.co.uk/

(Also trying to avoid BS et al)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/08/2020 09:46

SOTD Miss Dior.

FloraMacDonald · 31/08/2020 13:17

Skincare is Paula's Choice, Ordinary, le Roche Posay from look fantastic or escentual or whichever online retailer is having a special offer. Skincare is just matching shower gel & body lotion. I usually just ask for loccitane or molton brown at Christmas and get enough to last all year.

teta · 31/08/2020 13:27

Faith in nature is good for shampoos and body washes. I'm currently using the Rose shampoo and it smells delicious. In terms of skincare I use Cerave and Aveeno, as I love the smell of almonds and I don't react to it . Though body wash usually comes from Tk Maxx, as do my face oils. L' Occitane do divine products but are expensive. But how come I'm happy to buy very expensive perfumes but skimp on body products 🙄.
Riviera drive is Sotd again.

yoikes · 31/08/2020 13:42

Thank you!
I will check all of them out 😃
I have quite a few faith in nature soaps, they are lovely.
I've ordered a few bits from heyland and whittle as they have a sale.
I really need to ramp up my skincare routine (or start one at all!)

yoikes · 31/08/2020 13:43

I use aveeno too - its great stuff

Calmasasleepycat · 31/08/2020 14:25

yoikes, you encouraged me to investigate as I shall definitely not be buying any more Body Shop stuff!

I like Aveeno. They are owned by Johnson & Johnson. My favourite body lotion is Palmers Cocoa butter (unfragranced as I don’t particularly like the chocolate smell 😨). They are USA owned and seem to have good sustainability and ethical policies.

I like many of Kiehl’s creams and lotions. They are expensive, so a rare treat but I have discovered by researching this morning that they support an LBQT+ charity that goes into schools so I need to find out more about that. I can do without Kiehl’s if necessary. For cheapy creams I generally go to Boots (various makes).

I prefer soap to shower gel and my favourite is Nesti Dante, an Italian brand which uses sustainable sources. It is a hard, but gentle, soap which lasts ages. They have dozens of different kinds and I’m still working out which are my favourites!

I am trying to find some UK manufactured products and will look at some of those suggested above. One I came across was the Scottish Fine Soap Company. I used some of their Silver Buckthorn hand wash at someone’s house - it has a divine smell.
