thanks yoikes Im so proud of him. Ten years ago, i was told he would never be in mainstream secondary school, he'd never sit exams, he'd never move beyond being six years old ish and he would end up in residential care as an adult and NONE of that has happened. Hes overcome so much to achieve the way he has, hes had major setbacks such as his grandma ( my mum) cying after she was his main carer his whole life and then being placed by me into voluntary foster care because between his needs and mine, i just couldnt make it work without someone suffering and not having their needs met. He has defied every expectation set out for him ten years ago and right now, hes on top of the world and so am i. I am furiously ignoring everyone saying they arent real grades and other nasty commentary because I KNOW he would have easily got the marks hes been awarded, the levels hes been given and the subjects they are in perfectly reflect his talents and skills.

yoikes · 21/08/2020 22:21

Amazing 👏

SlipsAndLols · 21/08/2020 22:26

Judys thank you and to you Calmas Fragrantica is a great start for me, I'm going to have a peruse and keep lurking here then come back with more questions if that's ok?

Also Calmas you are absolutely right, my allergy(ies) is to natural things.

I forgot to say: Aveda used to do a parfum which was quite oily but lovely, it was the smell of their Shampure hair range. When I wore it people always commented on it. The smell was additive. Then it was discontinued, later Aveda brought out an EDT spray which is supposed to smell of Shampure and it does but they have added something artificial and now I don't like it.

As I was looking earlier I was reminded that I also liked the sample of Fragonard Gingermbre DH said he didn't love it but he doesn't have to wear it, I can wear it to work Wink

Off topic completely but @yoikes if the HRT patches you're talking about are Evorel ones they are back in stock. As everyone wants them that is causing them to go out of chemists as quickly as they come in. However, if it is the Evorel ones you need get on to your GP for a prescription, then go and chat up your usual pharmacist so that they will set some aside for you. Apologies for tagging you if my comment is irrelevant.

Thanks everyone Smile

Really interesting article; thanks for sharing yoikes. I distinctly remember thinking my mum has gone bat shit crazy during the menopause and that's made me look at her experience in an different light. Though I'm another who has no time for CM and her attitude towards women's rights.
Also a somewhat scary read as since having kids I have found new depths to my rage, feminism and selfishness to my own needs. God knows what I'll be like once peri menopause hits.

SOTD and evening is PP sand feet - their dupe of MMM beach walk. Haven't smelt the original for months so can't compare but it is lovely. Wore it yesterday and suddenly found, five hours later, that I was in a meeting and overwhelmed by how warm and delicious I smelt.

yoikes · 21/08/2020 23:14

slip thank you. Yes it was evorel conti. Sadly, skin issues mean I can't use patches anymore.

lots I used to like CM. But then she drank the TWAW koolaid and did a webchat on here and I told her I objected to her using the word "retard" in the book she was peddling.
and how, in the 21st century is shit like that still getting past editors!??
Oooohhhhh....her fans didn't like that! I was flamed for being "mean" 🙄☺

I so hate lazy stereotypes and disablism.

She eventually gave a not very sincere "sorry"...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/08/2020 23:39

House viewings today .

SotD is La Fumee Arabie which I have been pretty much been living in as it a relatively easy dry spice to wear in summer time, and has an edge of freshness whilst still being quite comforting.

SlipsAndLols · 22/08/2020 16:18

In that case apologies that I couldn't help yoikes I wish you well finding alternatives, I know myself that it's a minefield.

Does anyone know where I can buy a sample of le couvent maison de parfums solano? I can buy samples of their other fragrances, but not that one.

yoikes · 22/08/2020 19:07

No worries slips
I'm afraid I don't know much about natural frags but check out prosody - that could be a house for you.
Hope you're ok mrsp
We got loads of stuff done at mums - short break to bandage dhs finger ..blood EVERYWHERE but he's OK 👌
I'm shattered.
Weather weird.
So I'm off to spray some more by the fireplace 💜
Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks x

MrsPerks · 22/08/2020 22:27

All good thanks Yoikes. Hope DS OK?

SotE is Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves. Hope I got that in the right order? Reminds me ever so slightly of Ellen Covey's original Bat.

yoikes · 22/08/2020 22:37

it was dh...yeah he's ok thanks. It joins his manky toe from last week 😬

I rather liked 4160 BCRD...but it wasn't a love for me. It's quite civety iirc? I'm looking forward to trying waft from the loft.

Lotsofpots · 22/08/2020 22:56

SOTD was commodity pulp, mixed with a big of stress sweat as I took the kids to a fair and the waltzer was fucking terrifying.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/08/2020 23:00

SOTD Byredo Bibliotheque.

SotD vintage Diorama .

Funny you mention civet in BCRD, Yoikes, I didn't detect any yesterday. Perhaps blasted out of the water by the burnt leather and doughy/nutty wood? I didn't even get the geranium and that's normally a robust note.

If it's the fabled ethically farmed civet, the Waft chat suggests it also features in their forthcoming co-creations. Wondering slightly if I should've broken habits of a lifetime and plumped for the EdP in preference to the extrait, as it sounds like that is greener and has the stronger incense note? We shall see in September...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/08/2020 22:44

SOTD NRFH. I am almost out of this. I don’t wear it all that often, but have always had a bottle on the go for the last five years or so.

Where is everyone?
Sotd is Edo Riviera Drive . It's a fantastic citrussy herbal perfume with a soft green patchouli/cashmeran drydown. Comes with flecks of gold in it for added sparkle.
