Hi lovely friendly Perfumista ladies, I am hoping that you can give me some advice. Many years ago my good friend bought me YSL Paris Eau de Printemps - Premières Roses ... it was a limited edition but, I was still able to get it every time that it ran out - until now! It's my summer perfume of choice - I just love it. Can any of you recommend something that is similar? I like YSL "normal" Paris at other times of the year (old school I know!). Thanks in advance lovely ladies!! Flowers Flowers Flowers

Hi!
Fragrantica.com suggests Ellie saab parfum, Rose essentially Bulgari and Stella by Stella McCartney are similar to Paris premier roses....

I can't be much hp I'm afraid as I don't really do rose scents but 4160 tuesdays have scents such as killer rose, raw silk and red roses and rosa ribes. You can buy samples of them.

It's so awful when a beloved perfume is discontinued. Hope you find something!

Sold will be Avon soft musk delice again I think...

Greenpop21 · 30/07/2020 09:30

Have you been in Perfume Parlour for a dupe? M&S had a rose edt the other day. I recently bought 4117 cologne in rose. It’s gorgeous but not as long lasting obviously. You could try wearing your Paris with a layer of rose cologne?!

Greenpop21 · 30/07/2020 09:34

Also, Chloe has a rose edition that my DD Wears.

teta · 30/07/2020 11:22

@WaterLilyThursday I would recommend going to an m&s beauty hall. There are several Rose perfumes available in there. Fragonard do a Rose that is very pretty and available there.
Also l'occitane is a good bet for testing Rose scents.

Yardley freesia & bergamot today.

Thanks so much @yoikes @Greenpop21 and @teta ! I will look into all of those suggestions. Funny - although Paris Eau de Printemps (Premières Roses) obviously has Rose in it, I wouldn't call it a very rose-smelling perfume. I don't really like perfumes with a very strong rose smell - or, at least I thought I didn't!! Thanks again ladies Flowers Flowers Flowers

Greenpop21 · 31/07/2020 20:42

Lol in that case ignore my suggestions!Grin

Currently wearing a sample of Flashback in New York by Olfactive Studio which reminds me of the discussion a couple of weeks ago about skanky/dirty smelling perfumes.

This is spicy and warm. At first it reminds me of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, then it becomes very sweaty and occasionally sweet.

The listed notes are clary sage, white linen, saffron, violet, leather, jasmine, birch smoke, papyrus, vetiver and tonka bean. Reviews liken it to Santal 33 although I haven’t smelled that.

Not something I’d want a bottle of but interesting to try! That’s why I love these tiny samples (I got this straight off their website).

teta · 01/08/2020 09:19

I wore comme des garçons Hinoki yesterday morning when it was cooler. I love the nostril blasting turpentine/tarry opening notes. These soften quite quickly into lemony woodiness on a warm wrist.

FloraMacDonald · 01/08/2020 10:39

Dear Perfumistas
A little bit of Tauer Orange Star is lovely. Too much is 🤮

😁👏Flora.
I feel the same way about Carillon pour un Ange. More than one spray and you can taste it in your boiled egg for breakfast

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/08/2020 21:28

SOTD JM Wood Sage, yesterday was MG Lemon for lovely sunshine, now just endless rain again.

Sotd has been bleach and various other cleaning fluids.
Ugh.
I shall have a bath and scent up soon :)
I've been really enjoying avon lbd weekend during this hot spell. Very refreshing!

Greenpop21 · 02/08/2020 20:23

Do any of you ever wear regular, well known scents? Never heard of some of these. I tried Pomello 67 that a pp mentioned as being herby but on me it was minty candyfloss so teen DD got that. I’m realising I don’t do sweetness. It has to be fresh and either citrus, woody or a fresh floral.

yoikes · 02/08/2020 20:31

I like and regularly wear;
Calvin klein obsession
Estee Lauder modern muse nuit
Various Avon scents

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/08/2020 21:37

SOTD Diptyque Eau Duelle.

green I regularly wear Chanel 19, Rive Gauche, Coco, and Black Opium.

Good to know. Some of the names mentioned sound very obscure. How do you become aware of them? I’m not in London.

yoikes · 02/08/2020 22:40

Neither am I! :)
I trawl houses like 4160 tuesdays, les senteurs, bloom etc
