teta this is why I am not on FB.

SOTD Chanel 19. I went to the dentist today to get impressions for a new night guard. I always wear Chanel 19 to the dentist like a lucky charm. It was a surreal experience, C19, for C-19, in a very different feeling surgery to usual.

Very wise @Judystilldreamsofhorses.
I've come to the conclusion i'm too old for these sites.
Sotd is Cristalle. I've found it for sale at a very reasonable price on Origines, the French perfume company. The reviews of Origines look ok as well.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/07/2020 22:15

SOTD FM POAL for an eyebrow appointment, and a trip to the optician to have my glasses adjusted.

Has Cristalle been discontinued, teta? My friend got some with Christmas money (that feels like a whole lifetime ago) and had to really hunt for somewhere selling it. She wasn’t even fussed about the price because her mum had given her the money specifically to buy perfume, it was just really hard to get hold of.

OP posts:
Greenpop21 · 23/07/2020 22:49

No not discontinued. I got some in lockdown but had to go to a Chanel £££! In my Boots they only had no 5 and Gabrielle and Coco.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/07/2020 23:00

I just googled green and they seem to just have EDP now? The Chanel counter - and all the counters - in my Boots us still shut. ☹️

Greenpop21 · 23/07/2020 23:06

Yes mine is EDP. It is slightly different to the EDT but I like it.

FloraMacDonald · 24/07/2020 08:03

Can anyone explain the logic of this re: testers? I was browsing in a shop the other day and all the testers were put away - sensible enough as they don't want everyone touching them. I asked to try something (Floris Santal) and she would only spray it onto a paper for me, then handed me the paper. I didn't question her, but surely she came as close to me as she would have if she had just sprayed my wrist. I should have asked her but I was struggling with my mask steaming up my glasses, so I didn't bother.
btw I detest masks - my glasses steam up and no-one can hear me speak. Glasses steam up even worse when it's raining. I think I'll just stay home from now on!

Greenpop21 · 24/07/2020 08:07

I think it’s so only the shop assistant handles the bottle then that stops lots if cross contamination. They’re saying briefly passing someone is very low risk, particularly if you both have a mask. It’s very hard to change habits though isn’t it.

Greenpop21 · 24/07/2020 08:08

They always spray into paper don’t they?

Calmasasleepycat · 24/07/2020 13:21

Les Senteurs have a sale on at present with free postage and packing for everything on their site. I looked through the sales stuff. Some of it is very tempting but I don’t want to blind buy. I’ve bought some samples and they are very reasonable with free P&P.

SOTD Diorissimo, a beautifully green lily of the valley.

Flora, try wiping your glasses with water and a little bit of washing up liquid. That seems to stop them misting up so much.

Hello - please may I ask the expert ladies of this thread for some help. I absolutely love the ‘end’ - is it the ‘dry down’ (?) of Givenchy’s L’Interdit but hate the opening. It is the beautiful powdery end of the scent that I love. My sister in law wears La Vie est Belle and it smells beautifully powdery on her but it isn’t nice on me. I don’t like anything too sweet - prefer chypre/ woody scents usually, but I am desperate for this powdery smell - any suggestions? It is impossible to sample anything in store at the moment and I don’t want to make an expensive mistake. I’m not sure what the note I love is -/iris/orris/ Tonka bean? Any guidance greatly appreciated. Thanks

MrsPerks · 24/07/2020 21:19

Welcome Evelyn - is your L'Interdit vintage or the relaunched version? And what else do you enjoy wearing (with top and heart notes you enjoy more than L'Interdit's?).

Am sure people will have good ideas. A lot of my favourite powdery/sandalwoody-musks are vintage, so I would send you off to eBay to look out for things like Arpege (parfum strength if you can find it), or possibly vintage Joy or Magie (not Magie Noire). But knowing more about the notes you like at the start and middle of a fragrance will help us.

You might enjoy this article?

PS. Have you smelt L'Heure Bleue?

yoikes · 24/07/2020 21:42

I think you'd enjoy valentino poudree which you can get on ebay I believe

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/07/2020 22:17

evelyn you might like Chanel 19 Poudre?

SOTD TF Soleil Blanc, for a day in which I found a Colin Caterpillar cake with a yellow sticker - £1.75! This, my friends, is the best day since March.

MrsPerks · 24/07/2020 22:30

Enjoy Colin, Judy! I've hadmy first hair cut since February so am feeling pretty sharp! Will be able to turn the camera on again in meetings Grin.

Oh Calm - what have you done! Le Parfum de Therese is on sale at les Senteurs, but only the 100ml size is in stock. Teta - have you succumbed? I might have a crazy weekend of ebaying to see if I can raise the funds.

Kali - please bear with me; I'm operating at snail's pace at the moment.

SotD has been Halston (parfum). Unfortunately I spilt most of my 4ml bottle over the kitchen table this evening. Kitchen smells great! I sniffed and thought, funky Cabochard! I looked up the Nose, and lo, Bernard Chant was responsible for both (and Azuree) - truly the King of smoky moss!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/07/2020 22:57

Mine is tomorrow, mrsP - happy new hair!

Mrs Perks & Judy thank you very much. It is the current L’Interdit that I have. I have tried both the Chanel 19 Poudre and l’heure bleu (and Mon Guerlain which the lady tried to tell me was very powdery- far too sweet for me) . No luck so far except for a real cheapy which is good on my skin - Next Enchantment of all things. As for other things I like, my favour summer fragrance which I’m wearing today is Dior Homme Cologne. I love its lemony gorgeousness and don’t find it masculine at all. I have googled powder scents extensively and had been planning to go forth with my list for a massive sniffing sortie, but can’t now 😕
I had intended to try Prada Infusions d’Iris, the current Arpege and one mentioned above - Agent Provocateur blue silk. All thoughts welcome.

MrsPerks · 25/07/2020 00:34

Evelyn - I wonder whether you might like Habit Rouge (Guerlain - sold as a masculine but isn't)? Lemon opening on a powdery base. (I think it's fabulous).

EvelynBeatrice · 25/07/2020 09:03

Mrs Perks thank you. Habit Rouge sounds lovely. Will give it a go.

MrsPerks · 25/07/2020 10:13

Evelyn - make sure you try the EdP rather than EdT for maximum powder!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/07/2020 13:40

SOTD Heeley Sel Marin - I GOT MY HAIR CUT!!!!!!

OP posts:
MrsPerks · 25/07/2020 13:43

Bet it looks fab Judy - is your precision cut restored to it's full glory?

teta · 25/07/2020 14:45

@MrsPerks I'm very tempted by the Parfum de Therese. But it's too much. I only need between 10-30 MLS . And I can't afford it as i've just bought a bottle of Cristalle. But I do have £39.00 sitting in my PayPal account so could partake in a split?🌞
Are you feeling good @Judystilldreamsofhorses?
I had mine done this week too. Golden light brown n gold highlights instead of ashy bleached highlights. With baby lights around the front.

teta · 26/07/2020 14:07

Coming back to Animalic notes, i've just realised we forgot to include Ambergris. One of my favourite notes and the subject of this week's Perfume Society article. So Sotd is Lentisque - a very dry and woody Ambergris.
Where is everyone?
@Yoikes - are you ok?

yoikes · 26/07/2020 14:43

I'm fine 🙂
