Lavender, chamomile and thyme sounds wonderful, Teta. I'm saving up for some Le PdT. Not sure about a decant, or whether to hang out for an official travel size or part-used bottle. I was meant to be saving up, but them La Fumee Arabie cropped up...
It arrived today and I'm still working out what I think of it. Despite lots of comments on similarities with the original La Fumee, I was surprised with how different it is. Despite the smoke, La Fumee has a cool languid quality (might be the lavender/elemi combo) in the opening. in contrast, LaFA has a hot, spicy/aromatic start, like a dried herbal tea compound, made with aromatic seeds crushed with a pestle, with a pinch of henna, and a hint of citrus.
At this point laF is beautiful and LaFA is interesting in an, I'm standing in a wonderfully exotic store cupboard and marvelling at all I can smell, sort of way. LaF is pretty linear but LaFA begins to change into a much smoother, hot, dry, spicy wood, that is comforting and energising all at once. At this point it has an almost effervescent quality, but in a much more refined way than, say Shazam! Agarwood is listed, and peeks through as a subtle and mellow presence, rather than screaming capital 'O' oud.
From here, the heat fades a little and only now does it takes on a slight family resemblance with LaF, becoming clearer, but staying on the warmer side, with the addition of a non-sweet vanilla. There is apparently rose in the base, but I've not been able to detect it yet. Perhaps not a safe blind buy, but lots to like if you enjoy a perfume that takes you on a journey; from a borderline challenging opening this resolves into a rich powdery base.
