Sotd avon lbd
Really like this
I might order some nice bubbles...tried tisserand but wasn't keen

yoikes · 13/07/2020 21:55

Sote mmm replica by the fireplace

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/07/2020 22:17

SOTD TF Soleil Blanc. I had my friend round for tea and cake today in the house - it’s only been allowed to have people indoors from Friday here and it was such a treat not to be shivering in the rain!

I picked up some of the Radox Original today, I think it’s a limited edition.

Thanks to the very lovely Kali, I'm trying L'Air de Rien today, satisfying a long-term curiosity. For those who haven't tried, Fragrantica review gems include 'kittens bellies and God's underwear' and 'the platonic ideal of dirty panties'. They are not wrong; this is a fabulous musky/amber skin-scent with a very individual and quite compelling dusty/earthy quality. To my nose it belongs somewhere on a spectrum between Habanita and Bal a Versailles.

PearsMorgan · 14/07/2020 11:53

@KaliforniaDreamz I added some frankincense oil to epaderm, also inspired by boredom, and it worked really well on a stubborn bit of eczema.

Not really into bubble bath but have been enjoying plain Epsom salts and very satisfying Korean exfoliating glove things.

SOTD Guerlain ginger piccante. Felt like something different!

Calmasasleepycat · 14/07/2020 16:56

Who wouldn’t want to smell like kittens’ bellies?! I have the tiniest bottle of L’Air de Rien, from a Perfume Society box, and need to try it again to see if I can smell kittens. 😊

My scent of the day was Burberry Brit, but it almost disappeared on me within a couple of hours, perhaps due to the warmer weather. This afternoon I have been wearing Sensuous Nude, a coconut/ vanilla/ sandalwood concoction and that is lasting better.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/07/2020 18:19

SOTD was Stella, but have since had a bath and influenced by mrsP am in LDR. And pyjamas.

KaliforniaDreamz · 14/07/2020 18:53

MrsP it was my pleasure.
I love your description. Is it what others would call skanky? i never was quite sure what that meant. It is such an intimate smelling perfume and that is why i find it so comforting i think. Like Shalimar.
I think LDR gets a lot of love on these threads, it is one of Miller Harris' absolute gems. Along with Fleur du matin (which i need to rebuy) and my all time favourite but sadly DISCONTINUED WHY LOR,D WHY? coeur de fleur.

Calm i love the sound of sensuous nude.
Pears we should open up a boutique haha we could call it LockDown Lucky Dips

yoikes · 14/07/2020 18:58

Next cashmere which I wear sometimes is a dupe for sensuous nude :) I really rate it.

Sotd avon lbd again. Perfect for this weird overcast muggy weather 👌

I've ordered some Humble rose and frankincense bath oil. Looking forward to trying it.

teta · 14/07/2020 19:41

@KaliforniaDreamz I've just sold my bottle of Coeur De Fleur on a Facebook selling site . Plus I've just used the last of my Fleur du matin. Dd1 has just taken my bottle of l eau d serge lutens and the Roger & gallet orange. So I'm down several bottles this week.
Sotd is Fleur du matin which is also discontinued I think.
Rose & frankincense body oil sounds divine @yoikes. Where's it from?

yoikes · 14/07/2020 19:43

Amazon!
Not very glamorous Grin
Sounds lovely though 😍
I'm SO tired today. Dh is off now for the rest of the week and is planning on painting ds2s room. Ugh.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/07/2020 20:15

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does anyone know what Primark's Collection Prive Peach and Honeysuckle is a dupe for? It's lovely have googled to no avail

MrsPerks · 14/07/2020 22:05

'Fraid not Zeit.

Frankincense and rose sounds good!

It's freezing here - am in my new Yak sweater, the heating is on but I'm still shivering...

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/07/2020 10:09

Teta NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that stuff is the holy bloody grail. It is my all time favourite perfume i have some from ebay but it won't last forever!

SOTD not decided yet too busy dealing with a 12 year old who thinks she's fat. fgs.

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/07/2020 10:13

it might be a Jo Malone Zeit

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/07/2020 12:10

SOTD FM POAL.

zeit I don’t know any of those Primark perfumes but I am sure they were all launched as JM dupes, I remember seeing them on a blog. This seems to be a new one from her.

I feel bluergh today.

Burberry body is more floral than I remember it too :(

Etinox · 15/07/2020 12:59

Just seen that lloyds has a 2for1 offer
Here
Nothing grabbed me but there might be someone's favourite ever, or worth a try...

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 15/07/2020 13:02

I think it might be her Nectarine and Honey one based off a second google of just her scents.

The Pomegranate Noir dupe is SO good I have been asked if I am wearing Jo Malone.

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/07/2020 15:28

well excitement here as my ML perfumes have arrived and on first spray of Kashmir i am reminded of Yatagan!! I am very happy about this. It's got that 80s hairspray, sophisticated lady with big hair and lipgloss vibe.
Yet to try the others....

Yoikes Brew Cake

teta · 15/07/2020 19:57

I have my Rogue Perfumery samples. 😍 Chypre Siam, it's absolutely beautiful. It initially really reminds me of Houbigant Apercu with lots of Oakmoss and cinnamon.. But then veers off into a slightly animalic but tamed civety Jasmine. I don't like skanky normally but this is so well done. Now I really want to try the tuberose, Jasmine and the new tuberose moss one.

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/07/2020 20:51

Teta that sounds gorgeous - would you please explain skanky to me.

I am loving this Kashmir...

i have sprayed the others into their boxes to get a whiff. I can't spray on my skin or i will be overwhelmed. But i am happy with my cheap thrills so far haha

yay cheap date

teta · 15/07/2020 21:30

@KaliforniaDreamz it's traditionally the smell of body odour with maybe an element of halitosis. It can be animalic like the touch of civet in Chypre Siam . Or from some flowers containing Indoles like fleshy ripe buttery Tuberose or Jasmine . Some perfumes are really skanky to me - like Scent which I just can't wear or Salome which I love and admire. I guess everyone has their own personal levels of skank they can tolerate . It can also include faecal or urine notes . For example Dusita do an Oud perfume that contains a whole barnyard of animalic smells .

Someone else on here may explain it better than me though!

yoikes · 15/07/2020 21:39

Oud can be quite skanky

MrsPerks · 16/07/2020 00:10

Yes, I guess you get sub-classifications like:

  • sweaty/dirty (Theo Fennell Scent, 4160T's Maxed Out)
  • knickery/bodily intimate (Bal a Versailles, Habanita, L'Air de Rien)
  • (Civetty)animalic/musky (Paloma Picasso, Diva, Femme, Zoologist Civet, Maai, Magie Noire)
  • leathery animalic - (Beaver (Zoologist), Yatagan).
  • indolic/fecal (Tabu, Samsara, Angel)
  • decaying organic matter (4160T Dark Heart of Old Havana)
  • stomach contents (Jicky)
  • blood (1805)
